Got around to trying it. Played 10 times, almost split between 2 and 5, with one 4. Morant would be one great consolation prize, and a season to see if Morant and Smith jr could work together. Barrett and Smith jr, might be a solid backcourt.

Not predicting anything. Having a top 3 pick, as well as a season to give DSJr a tryout is a great situation to be in. If posters are right that he wont be a good fit, at least we would know for sure. Did a relatively good job under difficult circumstances this season.

4 or 5, and I will trust Perry to make the right choice. Mgmt/Scouting has earned the benefit of the doubt after last year's draft. Will be PO'd though, being the first team with the worst record to take that hit, under the new rules.

Yep- did 20 yesterday, we ended up with the 4th or 5th 17 times

Even worser, the Mavs kept ending up up with the first (or at least leaping into the top 4)- which would be highly annoying!

I've tried, but I just can't get too excited about anyone in the 4 and 5 range- help me out here!

not for nothing, but if we end up with the 4th or 5th pick - and that's what the odds say- after this season, Adam Silver needs to reevaluate what they did to the lottery this year.

And- we might cover up the insult with adding 2 FA stars.

But what if KD, Kyrie and all the big names pass on us, and we're left with pick 5 and crumbs? How does that not piss you off as a fan?

Effin Cleveland lands top picks, and we finally start to build and do things right, and we get a sucker punch of the new lottery, and watch a franchise/potential league changing talent go to Atlanta, or Miami or Dallas.

All things being equal, and they sort of are the teams you mention are on the upswing but still were lottery bound. That any of those teams after years of losing can then land Zion is not dissimilar to Cavs string of luck. They had 4 top picks? LeBron, Bennett, Kyrie and Wiggins.
Yet GSW build their dynasty on non top 5 picks!
What did we sacrifice this season? 10 wins perhaps? Am I pissed? NO! I won't say your wrong to be. Not even all knowing "High and Mighty" Nalod can say that. This will be a redundant theme for me is that I manage my expectations thus my ire to lay blame as a form of release is pointless. Knicks have had many good ideas poorly executed because of impatience by the owner. Read between the lines and you see leadership starts a the top. Wiz owner permitted Grunwalds easy style and lack of accountability. Most blame the GM/President for things. Lets be real, owners sign the big checks.
Dolan has evolved for the myriad of reasons and circumstances over the years well chronicled on these pages. He hired Mills then could not help himself to hire phil. We are lucky Mills stayed. Phil did not bring results and made some mistakes but fundamentally some good things did happen as we changed the process/culture. The buzz about Durant is about a franchise that is poised to make good decisions with assets and opportunities.

How that shakes out? Might not be all that great. But for now we can dream a bit.

I tried tankathon ten times and averaged a 3.3.
And signing Kyrie would be a HUGE mistake after what I observed
throughout the season as a Celtics fan. Honestly, hoping that he signs elsewhere and the Celts can sort out what's left. Still in great shape with all those #1 picks and Ainge has been pursuing AD for several years. Good riddance, Kyrie.

yep, at least if we land the 1st, I'll be happy even if we lucked out in free agency. If we land the fifth pick AND luck out in free agency, Knicks fans are back to feeling gloomy.

I think Kemba has been unfairly maligned on these boards- he seems a nice guy, injury free and a good player. Irving, I have concerns with, but at the end of the day if KD would only sign if we land Irving then we have to go with it.

That's what I get nearly every time. Yet Mavs seem to land the 1st pretty often. Thats would be a disaster for us because not only does KP gloat, it also pushes our pick from them back a year AND likely makes it pretty poor (a team of KP, Zion and Doncic will do very well for years).

Time to post some vids of players at the 4 and 5 range to lesson lottery day disappointment. First up, Darius Garland:

He has a weird looking body but we have to check him out:

And Deandre Hunter:

At worst we walk away with Reddish or Culliver. Its not the end of the world. I flly expect the Lakers to get the first pick and Mavs to pick 2nd. We will get screwed we always get screwed
