Does this stem from the shoe accident?

This stem from the lows of gravity and how heavy constructions are reacting to stress...
He need to lose weight and gain some flexibility. Need a lot of Yoga and less time in weight room.
Same knee. Signed with Nike anyway.

Interesting that it is the same knee. Was that the same knee that caused him to sit out all but one half of the summer league?
He was limping on draft night. No one wanted to say anything.
Thank god we lost the lottery
terrible. i wish nothing but the best for this kid.
A little early to sound the death knell.
I know the ghost of Greg Oden is out there, and the risk is there, but we'll see.
Agree with Marv that I wish the best for him and I wanted to see him play as well.

Want to say team mentioned that it was from preseason game vs Spurs.
6-8 weeks means they cut out whatever part of meniscus was damaged versus sewing it back on (typically 2-3 months recovery).
Rj is the real deal. Zion will be injured and off the court more than on the court.
Sorry to hear that. Hope he has a speedy recovery.
From what Ive read, and the clips, Zion got most of his points in the paint before he got hurt. Was expending a lot of energy using his vertical, probably more than he will down the road. There was no perimeter game to speak of. Combine that with his NBA topping weight, and its not that big of a surprise that Williamson paid a price for all the time he put in the paint, outworking the other team.
Dont believe it means that Zion is at risk of being a bust. Dropping 20 or so pounds, and spending more time on jumpers, 3pters, should cut down on the wear and tear, I imagine. Talking to Vince Carter about the right balance, couldnt hurt either.
So Kyrie breaks his face, KD tears his achilles and Zion rips his meniscus. That was going to be our 3 offseason additions. The Knicks curse is starting to affect even players that don't end up with us!

EXACTLY
And you won’t hear anyone in media who trashed us all off season mention this at all
It's not good that he is having wear and tear injuries this soon in his career.
The fire storm this would be if he was a New York Knick

Same. He strikes me as a great young guy and someone who should be the face of a franchise. Hopefully he gets healthy
Hope he gets better. Unfortunate regardless but specially so if it stemmed from sneaker incident. Good news is that he is young and can heal quickly. Think they will go slow with him.

not sure why this keeps getting brought up, no one from Pelicans references back to this incident.

Yeah i would want nothing more than Zion, RJ, and Ja to become the faces of the NBA as far as the next league superstars. I want Barrett to become the best player from the draft class, but not see Zion struggle to stay healthy. Hoping both are great.

This is how bad it is for knickfans. After a 17 win season we have a skewed view.
"how much worse can it get"? If the historical pattern of "Worst team gets top pick" we'd be looking in the mirror at Zions knee and shaking our heads. Durant was b'lining to knicks until he got broken? We don't know the real story there do we? Kyrie breaking his face is just a minor setback.
Media won't go there because its a bad place to go. Knicks "win" but really its mostly statistical thing. KP fell to us, then he got broken. With his character and injury it became a "regrettable" circumstance that set us back. When your franchise on a long run of bad and seemingly did the right thing, but then KP happened its more sad than anything.
Back to Zion.........We all saw this. We all saw this freak of nature man-child and have no comparison other than guys that are amazing running backs in the NFL. Or Lawrence Taylor. Not at 18 years old!!! Lose weight?

This kid look fat to you? The kid can fly. But why did we never see this before? Kids this size don't fly, they destroy on the football field. Bodies peak at different times and change. Zion was way better in his year at duke than what was projected. His preseason it continued. We have seen The Elgin Baylors, Connie Hawkins, David Thompsons, Darrell Griffiths, Jordan, Dr J, Barkley, Ewing, Lebron, etc....High fliers at young ages. The ones that lasted evolved their games to rely LESS on crazy hops. We never saw a kid this size fly. Gravity is unavoidable. The human body cannot take it at that size.
We all talked about the doubts but the Zion train and hype damn near mandates you take the kid. You don't want to pass on that. I suppose we had hoped we get a few years of Zion before he evolved. It might have come and gone. We don't know.
while we at it, I have not heard a peep about Ja Morant. Nothing good or bad. Looked at his stat line. Good assist numbers, shooting % OK for a rook, 3pt not so good. He in Memphis so no media crush.
