meloshouldgo wrote:What a great game. Hats off to Mike Miller for giving these guys well defined roles and for playing to their strengths. Peyton with a really solid game at point - ZERO turnovers, Barrett, Knox and Mitch had their best combined output ever. Knox showed glimpses of his game from Kentucky for the first time since becoming a Knick. That dunk he went coast to coast had Giannis written all over it. Barrett was sick and Mitch was just having fun all thanks to heady PG play by Peyton. And then there was Morris doing his thing. I hope we keep Morris, and I hope Knox can actually take this game and build on it. Most of all I hope we give Mike Miller enough time to really show what he can do. The people who wanted to keep Fizdale and his bass ackwards incompetence can suck it.
A lot of this is bringing Payton into the fold but a lot more of it is putting guys in position to succeed. Morris and knox spending more time at PF is an obvious example. Hope the front office is taking notes and Miller keep doing what you’re doing.
And I don’t know what is going on with DSJr’s chin but it looks like it was groomed after Trae Young's hair style
Last night was awesome !!! Great win Miller is night and day to fiz ....how valuable are the knicks, vs the hawks we led the league in attendance last night with 19,700+
Feel like this was the first game where DSJr used his speed to fruition and was locked in. Also saw 1 rebound where he SKIED, can't remember him getting that lift in previous games.
Could be he is rounding into shape/over some back tweakyness?
Anybody got the gamepicker right for this game?

I'll never understand how much support he got here.

from who? Sounds like the most support he got was guys saying they didnt see the point in firing him (yet). Who was "supporting" him?

There was a poll with 21 votes saying keep him. That's a lot of support for keeping Fiz. Those who didn't want him fired yet, what were they waiting for? 10 straight losses wasn't enough?

there were a lot of guys in this camp -- who rather than be outed should man up and admit their erroneous ways!!
Many were also in the DSJ camp -- who oddly enough may have been sucking ass because of Fiz or just a coincidence that he sucked ass with Fizz at the helm.

He's just trying to stir shit up. Drama about when Fizdale should have been fired. Really? Not even the end of the year.
Knicks have been a graveyard for coaches for decades. You dont want to add another tombstone unless the coach has lost the team in a big way. Setting a franchise¹ record with two 30 plus pt losses in a row was. It was more than just a losing streak.
Absent that record, could have waitied to the all-star break, if it meant not making the Knicks an even more uninviting place for a quality head coach. Its why we keep hearing about retreads as potential replacements if Miller doesnt work out.
Top level coaches know the risk of taking the job. Hoping Miller turns out to be one. Looking good so far.

I am of course pleased with how the Knicks are playing better under Miller and I hope the upswing continues and he's our coach for the next 15 years. And I definitely questioned if Fizdale was the guy. But let's note that the improvement has coincided with Payton's return and that teams historically get a bump from a coaching change. The mob demanding heads to roll will return as soon as we have a losing streak -- they'll be screaming for Mills and Perry this time but you can bank on Miller being dragged to the guillotine before it's over. I want the right guys in place too but the constant turnover in all areas is not a recipe for success.

I have to say, Fizdale comes out of this thing looking pretty bad. And all the coaches that supported him in the last few days have to say those things, but still look bad as well saying he is a very good coach. Fizdale is a good guy, and probably still can be a head coach, but it will have to be more of a ready made team where he can just focus on managing the personalities and not so much player development. If he was fired last year, he would probably be the Lakers coach right now, and it would be more of a good situation for him. He's on that Ty Lue level of top assistant or specialty head coach where his relationship with the players is more valuable than his Xs and Os.

. Agreed. I respect the fact that Fizdale is well liked but let’s be honest the guy is not a head coach from what I saw. I know it’s a short sample size but Miller has already shown more structure and has them playing harder than anytime in Fizdales tenure. But let’s be honest part of it is the league just likes to take cheap shots at the Knicks especially that idiot Steve Kerr who just got lucky he was handed basically a all star caliber roster the previous 4 years. But yeah the way the Knicks have played lately have certainly debunked their claims

Felt that was low class shown to speak on another organization like that. I also don't think Fiz gets another head coaching gig in his career.

I'm in this camp, though the analogy to Lue is good. A team full of superstars who don't want or need a coach other than to yell at the minions anot not hold the stars accountable
Miller is 3-3. Two loses were to great teams Pacers (with no time to really prep) and Nuggets where we made very respectable showings
There was an unnamed contingent on this board (who are invited to fess up
) who kept blaming the roster and saying Fizz runs the same stuff as the other teams. It's the talent. Not true
Fizz had way too much iso and way too much switching. He had all the players confused because he was trying to mold them in Lebron and Wade roles.
Miller has simplified everything from a player perspective, but from a team perspective it's great. Tons more off ball movement. Assists are way up. Defense is there. Sheesh even KK is showing up on both ends of the floor, and we got a glimmer of what DSJ can do if we stop telling him to shoot 3s
Hoping he's our Nick Nurse, or P Jax (back in the day)
