My issues are, I think it's a fluke year for him shooting wise (playing with 2 other pgs likely is leading to better shots), plus why part with assets when you can draft a PG in a PG heavy draft? If we love schroeder why not wait a year until he's a free agent?
Also someone said schroeder is a great back up PG but not a good starting one.
The way I see it you could run a pairing of Haliburton and Shroder together. As for his shooting numbers he's made a similar jump to Brandon Ingram and his form looks a lot better. You give away the dallas 2023 pick and an expiring is it the worst thing in the world?

Fair. At the very least a Randle + Payton for Shroder and a 2nd isn't a bad deal and improves both teams.

This. Morris and Bullock are guys that should have a market. I don’t think there is a market for Portis unless the Knicks take back a longer contract. Not sure what they should do with DSJ or if there is market. I think Ellington is either traded or bought out. Probably the same with Portis.

OKC originally took on Schroeder to get out of Melo’s salary hit, with the assumption that although Schroeder had more years, he would be easier to move than Melo’s salary due to the smaller annual salary. However he ended up having a sub par season last year and so wasn’t as movable as they expected at last years deadline, so we’re stuck with him. Don’t think OKC ever really wanted him, so I doubt they’re particularly attached to him now.

With that, I did see him quite a bit here in Atlanta. He's a ball dominate shot-first lead guard who doesn't get many assist so he needs to be paired with another playmaker. He puts a ton of pressure on the defense because of his quickness and can get into the paint at will. He's tough minded, plays hard and aint afraid of the moment. He seems to be a much improved shooter from deep by looking at his numbers this year which was a weakness of his in the A. Another weakness of his was shot selection. But looking at his numbers this year, he may have cleaned up that aspect of his game.
Not a huge fan of Schroeder, but he most def is an upgrade at point. Making this trade seems to indicate that the Knicks are still trying to make a push at the playoffs....

Agreed...Our owner is delusional With that said, I was at a family get-together last night and was talking basketball with some of my cousins. My cousin and her boyfriend are a part of the entertainment scene here in the A. He was talking about how he never sees Trae Young at any of the hot spots for athletes which is a good thing. However, he said he used to see Dennis all the time. In fact, he said Dennis told him he needs to get out of Atlanta because of the night life. Hopefully he has matured because bringing him to NY might not be a good thing.

When players around that age make huge jumps in production during contract years, you have to be kinda worried. Plus, he has the rep for being a knucklehead. Also, you have to wonder if Dennis is just benefitting from being the third wheel in a pretty dynamic backcourt. I wouldn't do that trade, but I'd look into possibly signing to short term deal.

Despite his numbers this season, looking at the OKC boards, the fans don't like him. Also remember he wanted out of Atlanta because he didn't want to be part of a rebuild, so I doubt he'd be happy here.
