Giving up picks to upgrade your franchise, weather F/O or Players, should never be considered a bad thing..
In Bargiani trade we gave up a 1st round pick to the raptors, that turned out to be the 9th pick Jakob Pöltl, after him, there isn't a single game changer in the rest of the draft.
Now im not saying it was a good trade, but the draft pick had more value when it was unknown. Jakob ended up getting thrown in the Kawhi deal a yr later as a cap filler..
Imagine if we would have traded the 8th pick (frank) prior to the draft, it would have had way more value then what we ended up getting.
If i can use my draft pick to get a player or someone I know is good as oppose to drafting someone i have no idea if he will ever be good..I'm going with the know vs the IDK
knicks1248 wrote:your post and the bold. The good thing about written words is you can look back and in your case see just how stupid they actually are. Lets just talk about the quality starters taken in that draft after the 9th pick Jakob Pöltl: Pascal Siakam, Malcolm Brogdon, Dejounte Murray, Caris LeVert, Taurean Prince, Domantas SabonisSambakick wrote:Then I don't wanna give up any picks for any GMs. What's the point.

I cant tell if you dont understand the game, dont understand the league or are simply just this ignorant and too lazy to look deeper into something you profess to be passionate about

desperate times call for desperate measures... I would rather burn a pick on getting someone with a clue hired that let another guy comparable to Steve Mills decide who should be on the team. What this year was gonna be was obvious to me immediately after all the signings. Took a lot of abuse for saying that in the offseason. I think there is a lot of value in cleaning house if someone who understands how this is done is in charge. If they just fire everyone to bring back Isiah or another old dude who is trying to cash his last paycheck, you might as well just give the picks away anyway
Say we get Masai. Then a guy like KAT tries to force his way out of Minny. How do we know Dolan won't pull a Dolan and offer up the moon and the stars so we have KAT and nobody else. Basically the MELO situation.
I'd rather keep what we got. Let Perry drive for a bit. Ujiri isn't the only person who can do this job. We just need a competent person and we need him to not have to answer to empty suits like MIlls or morons like Dolan.
Sambakick wrote:So say we burn a pick on a GM. How do we know that Dolan will listen to the new GM? We didn't seem to be listening to Perry.bang... this is it 100%. I dont see how people who have followed this team can ignore this. Those picks came from the KP trade. Its like we got spare change in the pocket and are just dying to spend it. The team stinks. There is no desperation. This is not getting fixed next year. We need alot. No picks!Say we get Masai. Then a guy like KAT tries to force his way out of Minny. Your under the assumption that a player of know talent can one season to the next replicate (barring injury) a similar expectation the next. Depending on age how long after. Trading for players is one thing. Making the assumption for FO is another story. If you have figured it out this talent does not always carry over. Look at all the names that have come here and the variables that did not match there past could not assimilate to the future. Its common sense. Got any?

well I don't think we are going to do anything anyway.
I tell you what though, i'll bet any amount of money that the the next F/O will not be building through the draft like Phil and Mills have been doing for the past 6 yrs with horrible results.

So your saying they will build with good results, or make some trades along the way.
Maybe that was the plan. YOu cant keep everyone and we had little to trade over the last few years.
Your brilliance and foresight is a gift.
Logic that we fired the Pres, GM contract is tied to him, knicks are in a holding pattern regarding making a big move. Expectations for MOrris are field by fans desire, not reality. Logic stands to reason that much won’t get done. I think we trade Morris based on logic that we want big cap to have season after next, not tie up his salary. I’d offer him 25mm for one season based on his production. That was JJ Reddik money when he took a big one year deal, then about half subsequently with sizers.
He might be a 20pt per game player but he is a free agent and he is hanging those numbers on a shit team. He is a low 1st round pick in return. Let’s not get ahead.
Anything we get in return is a gift.

So if we get a bottom feed 1st rounder and do what with him, we are boarder line embarrassing when it comes to developing. Thats why most young players are on the trading block.
This vicious cycle has got to stop... trade willy for trash, trade kp for trash, trade melo for trash, waive Kanter, waive what ever vet you traded for so they can go to a contender, or let them finish the season and lose them for nothing (rose, DeAndre Jordan).
Hopefully that's in the past

WE got two picks for Willy. We doubled our return. Your making stuff up again. Melo was trash. Kanter would not take a buyout. he is a 5mm player now.
Rose and Jordan are not in our timeline. your frustrated and ranting.
I get yelled at when I call you rainman. This is why.
When teams are not desperate they can take a risk on a euro player or others with high potential. Teams with more picks can do this. Spurs took tony parker at the 28 spot, Ginobli with the 57th. You whining about not picking well. Might try to learn what are the good teams that do well and how they do it.
Manu did not come to NBA until he was 25. He contined to play few years in Europe. Dont' turn your nose up at a late 1st round pick. You whine about not getting return on players? WE paid nothing for morris. ANyting of value is a plus.
You career as a GM is pricelss

Perry knew he was gone the minute the Leon Rose announcement was made.

Suppose Minnesota was willing to drop from 6 to 8 in exchange for acquiring an extra 1st round pick (even if its in a future draft)? Instead we end up with Jordan Hill. People seem to only look at these picks in terms of drafting players. They're also trade assets.Nalod wrote:Pknicks1248 wrote:Nalod wrote:knicks1248 wrote:Sambakick wrote:Then I don't wanna give up any picks for any GMs. What's the point.
