I feel for this guy, he's in a really tough position and he is going to need to make a solid move to keep his job.
The "SELL THE KNICKS CHANT" was the final straw for mills ( i said he was on his way out a long time ago) it was meant for DOLAN but Mills built the team, and you know Dolan ( gotta listen to this sht in my own building in front of me)
Perry had very little to do with building this roster, which is why he didn't get fired (I said that before) I'm sure he had some input, about as much as Mills had with phil and his moves
Perry has 48 hrs to make that power move that can elevate his status in the game, or he can sit on his hands and be petrified of the raft of dolan and do nothing, he can trade all his good players and go backwards again, he can get rid of the low IQ, low work ethic players and move forward
I don't care what it is as long as he's increasing the talent and getting some balance to this misfit roster..For the right deal, no one is safe
You have a weak draft, and weak FA class coming up, you got assets, draft picks, expiring contracts....what the hell you going to do, whats the PLAN
ONCE AGAIN a MAJOR part of the front office is canned, and we get a fckng MeMO (largest market in the world, and a loyal fan base)..no press conference...funny stuff

I don't need a press conference every time someone is let go.
What's there to say? It only invites questions and focuses on the past.
Knicks need to purge Mills bad vibes and the less that's said about him the better.
I agree. Mills sucked, we don’t need to understand why he was fired, it’s just a surprise it took this long.
Basically Perry has an “out” because he can move some of these summer signings and it would tell the fans “these weren’t my free agent choices, so let’s build the right way starting now.” Whether that’s true or not, he got a get out of jail free card with a 48 hour window to fix as much of it as possible. Morris and Randle getting traded would send a big message. I only want to move Morris if we get a good young player in return (Kuzma or Shamet is a start.) Randle can go for an expiring. How about Randle to charlotte for Biyombo and Monk? And smith to Minnesota for a 2nd round pick? There’s 3 realistic moves (including Morris to the lakers or clippers) that would send a message and jumpstart what is going to be an extended rebuild.

Immeasurable concepts with self bravado as if all the stupid shyt you make up don’t matter.
You ask one good question “what’s the plan”. 17 wins last season, blown opportunities, a failed coaching hire after one year and even captain obvious knows the knicks need help. After PHil, we thought it could not get worse. It did. Tell us oh enlightend one, what will become of us??? Next guy goes in big and gets the cap space wrong we then hit rock bottom. We might not be there. Its not who gets the gig, its what they do.
Now our asking Scott in 48 hours to right the ship. The boss dictates the direction of the team. Not the President and not the GM. Right now Perry is on orders.

Maybe for us die hards we don't need an explanation seeing that It happens so frequently, it's like another day in the office...
Functional organization have a press conference, they don't just leave the interim coach to answer the 150 questions tha going to fired at him, that's usually the GM's job..smh
I'm sorry but I don't understand why we have to trade Morris. Guy has been our best player, wants to be here, supports the development of all the young guys.
Throwing Knox out there for 30 minutes simply exposes him, and possible retards his growth.
I honestly believe we're just a couple pieces away from being good - granted, those are big pieces we need.
"Rox-anne..."
If Ujiri really is on Dolan's radar it might already be too late.

Because he’s not good enough to be a good teams best player. Our young guys are not developing, whether they like him or not. He’s 30 and his trade value is at an all time high, plus he’s a free agent. We can always retain him again over the Summer, if the Knicks cream themselves over him that much.
Knicks1248 is right. Perry has 48 hours to save his job. At minimum, trade Morris. At the very best, see what you can get for Randle as well.
what is the measurement of development? This team did not develop 19-20 year olds in the last year?
Frank is a better player. Dot is a better player. Robinson is a better player. Knox is 20, he is debatable. Statistics are down, he is held to high standard this year. He is stronger goning to the rim. Has a way to go.
Randle is playing better under miller as the season progresses. Mitch, Still raw, not fouling out in 10 min.
I see progress. RJ better by the week. Dennis has to get back to square one before we can see any improvement.
Is it enough to win 30 plus games? Nope. Make us happy? Nope. But I think they are getting better. Not fast enough to save Mills ass.

Imagine how different things might have been if we started the season with a different coach. Heck, even Jeff Hornacek would have made a difference. Does Mills keep his job if we scrounge 20 wins at this point in the season?

No - Morris isn't good enough to be a good teams best player. I look at finding players 1 through 8. He's not a good teams 1, but he can be a 3/4, just like Randle.
We need to find a 1 & 2. No doubt, very hard to do.
But trading Randle and Morris just means we have to replace them, and means you are looking to find players for 1-4 instead of just 1 & 2.
My hope is RJ is our #2. That means - the draft this summer, FA - trying to find a 1.
From everything I'm reading this morning, Perry probably isn't going to do a thing.
At least nothing big
More than ever, Dolan has veto power on significant salary moves like taking on point guard D’Angelo Russell’s $117 million contract as the point guard star of the future. The sense is Mills — not Perry — pushed for Russell.
Besides his Track record is far from impressive, and i rather leave it to the professionals.
He's more than likely done by the end of the season, so why would Dolan allow him to make trades..If anything Doaln is the one doing the negotiation, and do you really want that.
The most he might do is trade DSJ or frank

he should veto Russell. Losing culture player. You always love these guys
Why was Perry hired if Mills and now Dolan had the power all along? We gave up draft compensation for Perry. For what?

Why isn't there a baseline understanding that all owners have power? Every team. Smarter owners hire smart folks and walk away, but they stay involved to some degree
Every owner.

I know i'm asking rhetorically. Why did Dolan/Mills give up draft comp to get Perry? To get them their coffee?
Nalod will turn blue in the face but who signs the checks? The owner. Who allows a team to suck and rebuild? the owner. Who takes the hit. The owner. Over and over again.
Even Phil could not spend on players without Dolans stamp.
neophyte Scott Layden does 100mil contracts and brings in Mcdyess without the owner? Might have been Dolans idea.
Layden don't do Marbury, Isiah does a week later. Why? Dolan wants it.
Blame Donnie for Amare and no insurance on contract? Right. Dolan.
Melo deal? Dolan finished the trade. Go back in time and you know he trades Steph Curry who hand ankle issues then had we drafted him.
Over and over. Owners are involved.
Clay Bennett bought the team in seattle and let it rot so he could move it. While so, he tanked. Who is clay Bennett? OKC owner. He had the Fracking money just oozing in and needed to show how bad attendance was.
He was losing money. You thinmk Presti is some genius??? Also Portland took Oden and left Durant for them. sweet!
I like Presti, he has done well but we all know its not a given he succeeds here.
Then I don't wanna give up any picks for any GMs. What's the point.

I agree. It's not a big deal, but it is another example of the dysfunction. Instead of press conferences, we get "leaks" about Mills and his actions leading up to WWIII...same ole story. We blame Mills and let's face it, some of potential moves were scary, Mills was just a symptom. This organization is filled with sycophants from top to bottom. It's like a sports version of that Trump reality TV show. I was excited when the news first broke, then I hear crap like we're considering Rich Kleinman and some stooge from CAA...effin merry-go-round. That said...maybe it's a good idea to keep Dolan away from a live microphone.
Sambakick wrote:Then I don't wanna give up any picks for any GMs. What's the point.
Giving up picks to upgrade your franchise, weather F/O or Players, should never be considered a bad thing..
In Bargiani trade we gave up a 1st round pick to the raptors, that turned out to be the 9th pick Jakob Pöltl, after him, there isn't a single game changer in the rest of the draft.
Now im not saying it was a good trade, but the draft pick had more value when it was unknown. Jakob ended up getting thrown in the Kawhi deal a yr later as a cap filler..
Imagine if we would have traded the 8th pick (frank) prior to the draft, it would have had way more value then what we ended up getting.
If i can use my draft pick to get a player or someone I know is good as oppose to drafting someone i have no idea if he will ever be good..I'm going with the know vs the IDK
