Knicks · Your Ideal 2020 Offseason (page 1)

Knixkik @ 2/12/2020 7:38 PM
Obviously realistic only.
- trade Randle into charlottes cap space for a future 2nd round pick (we own most of them anyways)
- draft Cole Anthony, Hampton, or Haliburton with the top pick. Nwora with the clippers pick. Isaiah Joe with the high 2nd. Add shooters and playmakers.
- sign VanVleet for big money and overpay Jerami Grant on a 1 year deal at 15 mil.
- bring back Bullock and Gibson

C Robinson
PF Grant
SF Barrett
SG Bullock
PG VanVleet
With our top pick as 6th man

In VanVleet and Grant we would be adding 2 26 year olds who play both sides of the both. VanVleet would split playmaking duties with Barrett and Grant is a 3&D PF. We instantly get more athletic, better shooter and would be a great defensive team. Basically surround Barrett, Mitch and VanVleet with shooters and defenders and maintain future max cap space and draft assets.

What’s yours?

My ideal offseason isn’t realistic because nothing good ever happens here. I don’t hate your offseason, though.

If we signed Van Fleet, then I'd rather draft Tyrese Haliburton for the SG spot than Cole Anthony.

Pellscup @ 2/13/2020 7:47 AM
ideal offseason for me is quiet, we keep miller, let him work with the squad from the start, maybe add one or two players if they're reasonable and keep improving slowly...i just hope we don't build another super team this year like with rose and noah
TPercy @ 2/13/2020 8:44 AM
Bring back Morris and sign VanVleet. Draft Hayes/Haliburton with top pick and a shooter with 25th pick. Relegate Randle 6th man.

Van Fleet
Hayes/Haliburton
Barrett
Morris
Gibson

Frank
25th pick/Bullock
Knox
Randle
Robinson

I kinda like this. I think bring back Morris, add VanVleet and Miller time from day 1, and we've got a team that will be playing right around 400-500 ball.

I don't see the player that will bring us a championship, but baby steps!

stanleybostitch @ 2/13/2020 8:54 AM
Ideal off-season is no starphucks. I'll have a coronary if we dump our youth and picks on John Wall or Chris Paul types. Anything but that.
meloshouldgo @ 2/13/2020 9:31 AM
Little Jimmy overdoses and dies or Silver tells him Knicks will be placed on indefinite suspension from the NBA till he sells them.
Chandler @ 2/13/2020 9:42 AM
agree with a lot of posters to not reach, keep it simple

Well, that got dark really quick.

fishmike @ 2/13/2020 10:18 AM
Man why would Van Fleet come here. He's gonna get paid and stay. It would be a great pickup but why?

The only qualifying aspect of truth is that it needs to be true. The hell with the toxic positivity of our dystopic culture. I answered the question posed. Enuff said.

I like this. I think we are more likely to sign Gallinari than bring back Morris. CAA client and probably a better shooter/player.

I think they we will blow this roster up, I think they will work with whoever they hire as a coach and figure out the style of play they want to incorporate, and then build the roster via trades and some FA..

GustavBahler @ 2/13/2020 11:08 AM
Dream offseason for me would be Perry and Miller staying. They get a season to make a case to be part of the teams' future.

Rose avoids a nostalgia tour. No Jax, JVG (except as an asst. coach) No rush to bring in people from NY, mainly because they're from NY.

Hated Layden's "Utah Connection" trades, and Isiah with his "Chicago connection" moves. F making geography a big consideration in the hiring process. Its lazy thinking.

Would like to see no big moves made until 2021. Like to see Rose not make big moves just to look busy. Work around the edges, draft well (a PG)

what is YOUR ideal 2020 offseason? Chris Paul? Derrick Rose? Blake Griffin? Boggie Cousins? Add RJ and that could be next year's starting 5

Man, those Howard Eisley and Shandon Anderson contracts felt like they lasted for decades

Ideal?

France wins the Olympics with Frank playing a key role on BOTH sides of the ball.
We draft a franchise potential stud top 5 pick. We just won't know it other than the Summerleague starphuch.
Kevin knox gets mad.
Leon the Professional is just that, "Professional". There is one of two plans:
1. The starphuch path: WW Wes already knows what it will take to get giannis here. Hire a "calipari type" to coach, some over blown Isiah the GM return and hire Oak as "sergeant of arms" postion or "Liaison to community outreach and security".
2. or some boring moves that the Rainman hates but moves the dial slowly but with substance. The plan is multifaceted and not really understood by most fans. It involves not blowing it up as there are assets and a process that are valid here. What it might need is "Refinement". Build upon the existing foundation of picks, young players and SOME of the staff already in place.

Blowing it up as suggested is feeble starphuch stuff. Do the above and you have the basis to attract players and make trades. Assets can be used and concentrated to make other moves. Team construction is like cooking. It takes time. If you add too much too soon it won't cook properly. If you add too many spices at once its overwhelming and inefficient. Leon the Professional needs to exercise his leadership with judicious process. That's What Dolan would be paying him for. Us fans? We are reactive.

In retrospect, maybe Howard wasn't so bad. He could hit a three and he didn't turn the ball over.

2016-2019 Howard was an assistant coach with the knicks!! He never really left.
