Boston is rumored to explore moving up in this draft. They may not want to try to take in this many rookies in 20-21 at the same time. Draft and stash overseas has some complications with the pandemic.
Would you trade this years No# 8 for the Celtics 2020 14th, 26th, 30th and 47th?
If so, who would you take with this bounty of draft picks?
If not, but you became the new GM and inherited this situation, who would you take with this bounty of draft picks?
Yeah. I wouldn't consider this trade in most drafts, but I would move on this if it were offered. I just don't see too much of a difference between picks 8-14. But I think Boston would look for a higher pick. I would target Cole Anthony or Kira at 14. Poku at 26 and let the chips fall where they lay with picks 30 and 47.
when is the last time Boston lost a trade?
so we'd have 6 picks and have to find a way to flip some for current players or future picks.

That’s the real issue. Boston doesn’t lose trades often.
We don't need volume, we need quality so I don't think so.
Imagine Boston with Vassel or a few of the other more interesting picks. And we'd be sitting around with 4 or 5 Cleanthony Earlys. That would be tough to take.

Atlanta is thinking about this right now, as they look at Luka

The Knicks are bereft of talent. MRob, Barrett... who after that can you really say would be on roster on long term on talent alone?
And you can play the Cleanthony game with any draft at any pick really, but you can also look at individual players and start to see if there is talent to mine and know the Knicks barely got any of it.
#14, 26, 27, 30, 38, 47 the Boston and remaining Knicks picks.
Maybe Vassel is gone and then what? 8-14 are similar? Or is it 8-16? 16-32 are also pretty similar? Deep draft for the mid picks

It wouldn't be that bad. Remember, Early was free falling when we nabbed him in the second round. We should've taken the hint. Pick #14 probably makes sense if you're targeting a lead guard. Boston would probably want Oneyka with our pick. I like him, but he probably doesn't make the most sense for us. Plus, honestly, I'm just looking for any excuse to get away from pick #8.

Why would Boston do that? In a year where its thought to be pretty even in terms of level of talent 10 to 40? But yes, would be awesome. I would even take just 2 or 3 picks for the 8.
But okay. I would take Vassell, Okoro or S Bey in that order of preference if available at 14. 26th I would take Bane Green, Stewart or Ramsey. Take remaining with the 27th. With 30th take anyone of previous still available or or Mcdaniels or Hampton. With the 47th Pritchard, Terry, M Howard or Hughes.

True but they have Trae Young. Boston did this with Fultz and ended up with a pick and Tatum.
In this draft, I'd definitely trade down if the opportunity presented itself.
COVID-19 really messed us the scouting/pre-draft process. It looks like a mediocre draft, but taking out the top 3 picks 2019, I'd say this draft can easily produce some NBA starters and rotation players into picks 15-40. Lots of players with notable gaps in their games - seems like a lot of players have questionable motors or can't shoot.
So with that, the player you're targeting at 8 could potentially be there 5-15 picks later.

It's a good question and a fair one. Who says either side has to lose this trade. Maybe, though it's rare to happen, it could be a win/win for both sides.
As a matter for thought discussion, who would you take if you inherited this situation as a brand new GM?
(Same question being asked of techno, Philc1, Nalod, everyone else, etc, etc, thanks)
Not the worst thing if we can flip our 3 other first rounders for picks closer to the middle
Okay that's fair.
Personally I shop 38 and 47 say for 17 from Minny, They probably will be cost conscious so second-rounders might work for them.
At 14, I take Tyrese Maxey- shooter.
At 17, I take Tyrell Terry - shooter.
At 26, I take Dan Oturo.
At 27, Jalen Smith
At 30 Immanuel Quickly
That's a lot of bodies though.
Yes, thisplayer and that "won't be there" - BPA
If we cant identify a prospect better than Okoro after 8 (if he's there) then you don't do it. Okoro, with proper development, has a chance to be a monster in this league.

I agree. But I doubt he's there for us. I'm hopeful tho. A lot could change by the time this years draft commence on Jan. 27, 2025.

LOL....Seeing Okoro moving up on some boards and is concerning. I've zeroed in on him, hopefully he's there. I'm not concerned about paring him up with RJ, despite the fact neither are considered shooters. Okoro's athleticism, defensive ability, intensity and work ethic screams that he has the potential to improve by leaps and bounds. If he's there at 8, he will be the best player available and when drafting that late, you take the best prospect and figure it out later.
The more I think about this Hell No. do not trade with Ainge he’s a dirty dealer and will pick a player the Knicks should have picked themselves.
I think this is a tough one to dissect. I think the players that are being thrown around as mid-to-late first round picks did not get the benefit of their conference tournament or NCAA tournament to advance them in the draft. that said, our pick is even more valuable because we would be able to draft a known commodity. I think if you trade our pick for a bunch of scratch offs, the prizes better be there. I am unsure if this draft class is going to produce many high end talents. I think it would be best to keep #8. If Bos still wants to trade if no one we want is there, then maybe.
If this is how the draft plays out, why trade down? I havent followed college much this year, but all the guys people talked about is available at 8.
