Knicks · If draft assumptions hold true on Top 7, who do you choose? (page 1)

martin @ 11/11/2020 10:49 AM
Okongwu should be in there too
BigDaddyG @ 11/11/2020 11:06 AM
I picked Hayes, but I think he goes before Hal. Okoro is my next choice if Hayes is gone.

Possible but not probable... I have seen him go anywhere from 4 to 8 in the mocks I have looked at

SupremeCommander @ 11/11/2020 11:15 AM
of the names on the list you gave, I went Okoro but would be cool with Hayes of Vassell
NYKBocker @ 11/11/2020 11:32 AM
I clicked on the wrong button. I clicked on Nesmith but I really wanted Vassell. However, I would be happy with either one.

I just think that with Vassell's defense, length and perimeter game, he would be perfect to play along side MRob, RJ and Frank.

Allanfan20 @ 11/11/2020 11:43 AM
I like Nesmith for his shooting and defensive potential and size.

I am ok with Lewis even though he’s small.

I am okay with Hayes but I’m not totally convinced by him

mikesknicks @ 11/11/2020 11:46 AM
I picked Hayes, but I'm good with any of these except Maxey because he is too high at 8.
KnickDanger @ 11/11/2020 12:29 PM
I will be surprised if the draft goes in any kind of expected order. I'm hoping Hayes or Halliburton are there for us at 8.
Uptown @ 11/11/2020 12:32 PM
If we are staying at 8, you take Okoro. He is the most physically gifted player on the board and probably has the most potential. He can guard 1-4, is physically imposing, attacks the rack, and scores well around the rim. All indications are that he is an extremely hard worker and I believe with proper coaching and training, he can and will improve his handle and shot. If we were to hold a redraft 3 years from now, he has the potential to be the number 1 pick or at least top 3....This draft is mos def a crap shoot. Most unpredictable draft in years....

If we trade back, then its Kira, Maxey or Terry...

I have Maxey over Kira. I'm all over the place with Terry. I really wish we had an NCAA tournament. As for Okoro, he has the requisite physical package and athleticism to be an impact player. His outside shot needs work, but I'm not convinced it's as broken as some would have you believe. I think he just needs reps and improved focus. The Knicks aren't at a point where they can draft completely off of fit. I like RJ a lot, but I'm still not convinced he can be the best player on a contending team. The team needs talent and athleticism.

Agreed about not drafting for fit. We need a serious upgrade in talent. RJ, I think will be a nice piece to have, but no way do I see him as the best player on a contending team.

Okoro is a dog who plays above the rim. He's the type of athlete that contending teams have and his strength on the wing will be tough to deal with for the opposition on both sides of the ball. If he can develop some consistency with his jumper, he will be a perennial allstar.

Okoro seems to be wired like Jimmy Butler... I don't know him well enough to say for sure, but he seems like he is confident to the point of maybe being irrationally overconfident... but I mean shit John Starks was wired that way too as were many of the 90s Knicks

Well there's a Starks clone in this draft in Maxey. Undersized but hard-nosed. Good defender, streaky but good shooter, stuck in between positions but is a gamer.

xblvdels3 @ 11/11/2020 7:51 PM
Okoro. An athletic strong slasher who can’t shoot or make a free throw. so we are picking him to play defense on the opposing teams best player?

I think we have sinething similar to his game with less strength and Defense already. 🤔

Not that it matters he has good length and a great vertical but he is really only 6-5.

It will take atleast 4 years to get to 34 percent from 3.

this is the classic shoot for the upside pick.

I just can’t do it. sorry. You need to make 3s in today’s game. I prefer 90s ball but unfortunately it’s 2020 lol

xblvdels3 @ 11/11/2020 7:58 PM
Maxey. You can’t pick him at 8. Period. Heart and hustle player. streaky shooter. Strong finisher.

Sorry. Not at 8.

xblvdels3 @ 11/11/2020 8:06 PM
Okongwu. Seems like he will be a good forward/center for a decade. Seems kinda redundant and doesn’t work for what we are doing.

Halliburton. I don’t see us raising any trophies with him as our pg. he does everything well except create his own shot and get by a defender. I doubt he can beat a athletic 4 off the dribble. He is like the classic runner up point guard who loses to the more dynamic pg.IF you put him with a dynamic backcourt guy then you might have something. Secondary ball handler off ball.

Sorry not for us.

Nalod @ 11/11/2020 8:06 PM
Starks was not Jimmy Butler. John was cool, hard nosed player he was not the leader or the hardest worker by example.
I’m not slighting him. He was just epically focused like Jimmy.
xblvdels3 @ 11/11/2020 8:13 PM
Hayes. You have to take him if he falls. No brainer. I think he will go before 8.

Williams. He is a tweener. Small ball 4. Kinda rigid. He is like almost the exact player we need but not fully it lol.

So that leaves us with toppin vassel nesmith and Kira .I’ll give my thoughts on my final 4 at the end of the weekend.

THIS.

Should be listed as one of the players that go in the top 6.
And ddfinately listed as a pick for us at 8. If available at 8, he is a steal and should be the pick. Doubt it though.

Like Williams but do not think he is a top 10 pick. Same with Maxey and Lewis.

Out of list provided, I would go with Hayes or Okoro.

Chandler @ 11/12/2020 1:04 PM
i suck at projecting college talent but voted for Nesmith in the hope that this is another Devin or Klay situation where a premier shooter slides for some reason (again)

worried about Okoro's height and lack of offense

hayes was on my mind but wondering about fit with another ball dominant left hander

Not drafting by fit is a terrible way to develop chemistry.

If a player doesn't fit, then you have to find other players that fit the way he plays.

That was mills problem to begin with, just get some talented players that don't compliment each other
