As we move forward with our team, its becoming clear that we are not seeing Randle as our PF. His fit with mitch and rj was awkward all year and the lack of shooting, usage will not work + we drafted Toppin who the team was ready to go up to 4 or 5 in the draft just to get him. Despite averaging 19 and 9 with a friendly contract(23M this year and a team option next year) Randle is still valuable esp since he is in his mid 20s.
Here are rough trade options I see for randle
1. Randle and DSJ for rozier and Cody Martin
- rozier looks expandable with the ball draft and the emergence of graham. Moving him for Randle makes sense for both teams especially for the hornets as they get a big that fits the playoffs now mantra of MJ.
2. Randle, DSJ and cash for Otto porter Jr and picks
- with Williams as the 4th pick, the bulls want to see what they got with him and Randle gives them an audition between him and lauri for the future of the team. DSJ gives them a ball handler to replace dunn and cash to help the frugal owner
3. Randle and DSJ for Ariza and picks
- Randle auditions as a fit with SGA and is actually a good fit with horford(if tjry keep him for a season), DSJ gives them a 6th man.
Other long shot trades
4. Julius for THJ and picks.
- macs just drafted josh Green and got josh Richardson, but are still thin in the front line especially since Kp6 will be coming from surgery
What do you think?
I am not really feeling any of those deals because the ones that have us getting picks back I don’t see those teams doing that because those players are on 1 yr deals so what’s the incentive....
The rosier deal is interesting....but I would need more ...we are giving them more in theory...rosier is tied to their cap for another 2 yrs as with Randle and DSJ...they are essentially 1 year deals...
I’m hoping Randle is moved as part of a big deal soon. Otherwise Randle for Rozier makes a ton of sense for both teams.
I think limiting Randle to 30 minutes a night and giving him a little time at center is going to be our best bet.
Taking back salary, when the season is going to only be 70 games doesn’t seem prudent. Rozier has another year left after this one at just under $19MM. He’s solid but not at that number.
We all know that the Bucks, Pacers, Hawks, Lakers and Dallas want Bogdonavic. I would rather offer him 4 years at $18MM a season. Getting a younger guy that can space, dribble and create is unbelievably important. If we want to move him, teams want him and his game will hold up well. He can be included with picks and a player in the future for a potential difference maker. Otherwise just keep the space open for a mid season trade or a dump for a pick.
Let’s give DSJR one more season and see if we can increase his value. Having Toppin and real coaching should really help.
Maybe Kenny Payne can get through to some of these kids.

Agree with using Randle in s&t to get Bogdonvic; assuming both Bogey & Kings want to go that route.
Anything to get rid of spinover is good with me
Obi while 23 has not played at the NBA pace. I’d rather him off the bench behind Randle. He might be good trade fodder as his contract runs out.
As for Rozier, he is not that good. He is not terrible but charlotte will give him away. We are undervaluing Julius because he was our 1st option on a shit team and had the ball out of position via Fizdale.
Maybe the goal is let Payne work with him via wth Thibs wants and see where it goes. Getting rid of him does not make us better.
Those of you who didnt like the Payton signing. He should do a good job of showcasing Randle. Might be partly why he was signed. Looking at all the recent additions to the frontcourt.
Randle, DSJ and one of the Mavericks picks to Golden State for Klay

Don't even need cash. We can do that deal straight up since we're under the cap. I'd want a pick back. The problem is fit. They already have enough bigs and Porter, who expires after this season, makes sense for Chicago.
I like the idea of playing Randle off the bench this season and letting his contract expire... unless we could be in play for a quality player like a Bogdanovich (or another very good player becomes available during the season).

I think most of us want to move Randle, but no way does he come off the bench. He's the teams leading scorer, rebounder and highest paid player by a mile. He's starting. Hopefully, we can move him at the deadline for an asset and Obi will slide into the starting lineup...
Obi Toppin needs to spend this season learning how to play competent defense. He is not ready to start, so I would hold on to Randle at least until the trade deadline unless a really good deal materializes.

Randle isn’t much of a defender either and he can’t shoot.
Randle, Dsjr, mavs 1st, 3 2nd rounders for Beal

Yes, but he can rebound and he is a vet. Once he stopped the spinovers under Miller, he started looking like a decent player. I am not saying Randle is better than Toppin may end up being. I am saying that Thibbs should not just hand the starting job to Toppin. He needs to light a fire under him that his focus this year needs to be on defense and that until he can play competent defense, he is not going to get major minutes.
Would you guys trade Randle to New Orleans for Eric Bledsoe? He's going to make 16 mil a year for the next 3 years. He's not ideal, but much better than Payton.

I’ll take him to NO myself.
Jonathon Macri said on his Knicks Film School podcast that a) he knew for a fact they're discussing moving on from Randle, also cryptically said something about them the starting PG for this season isn't on the team yet, or something like that. Then later in the podcast he again cryptically, carefully choosing his words said /hinted they're working on acquiring a player who can run the offense, that may not be a PG but would be pretty good at the 2, and then it wouldn't matter who's at PG.
Can anyone think of a SG who we could trade for who could be traded for (possibly for Randle) run the offense, and move RJ to the 3?
Only one I can think of is Bledsoe? Hope not! Buddy Hield? (can he run an offense?)

I assumed NO would want to move one of their PGs, but maybe they keep Ball and Bledsoe for now until they see what Lewis looks like
PG- Ball, Bledsoe, Kira Lewis
SG- Bledsoe, JJ Redick, Hart, Alexander-Walker
SF- Ingram
PF- Zion
C- Adams, Hayes, Willy
They look a bit thin at SF and PF. They did have Randle in the past too.
I'm surprised the Conley for Randle never happened, seemed like a good deal for both sides
