Knicks · 2021 trade deadline is fast approaching, who do you want the Knicks to try to get? (page 6)

GustavBahler @ 1/27/2021 11:04 PM
Watching the Pels game. Not hard to see why Lonzo isnt playing his best bball.

NO has lots of backcourt/wing players who can and do set up the offense.Ball/Zion/Ingram/Bledsoe among others. Ball is more of a ttraditional PG than those other players.

Lonzo might bring up the ball one trip, and not see the ball again for a few trips down the court. Hard to get into a rhythm. We alao have players who can set up the offense. Not to the point where the PG becomes extraneous, like with the Pels.

Dont know about his shooting slump, got better last season. But I see Lonzo's game taking the next step, without so many other chefs to deal with, so to speak.

Just for the record I would take Charlie Ward over all these guys but can't find the 2021 version of him in this NBA. He didn't cost much, could defend, shoot well enough, pass well enough and had grit.

Yeah, yeah, Derrick Rose isn;t listed in the tweet, but he;s in the piece, I assure you.

Despite the slow start to the year, Rose, who;s averaging only 14.8 points and 4.6 assists per game on 43/33/84 shooting, is still drawing interest from teams. Thats good to know as the Pistons gauge the market around the league for Rose and other Pistons.

Oh, great. Let's also trade RJ and Mitch for Melo and Kanter while we are at it. And bring Noah and Amare out of retirement. Will be fun.

Wait, aren't we still paying Noah?

Hmm, if so then that one less piece of the puzzle to take care of

ramtour420 @ 1/28/2021 3:56 AM
So when we say who we want to get we mean other than Noah, who we technically already have.

jskinny35 wrote:I'm all for picking up Ball and getting rid of DSJr at the same time, but it would take more than that as Ball has shown ability within the past year and DSJr seems to be getting worse as time passes. They can have DSJr or Knox and maybe a Dallas 1st for Lonzo? What's a realistic price to pay for him?

I'd trade for Ball if it was very low cost (simply because, even with his flaws, I'd rather have him as our starting PG than Payton- at least he wouldn't freeze out RJ), like Frank or a second or something.

Yep next year too.

Only if it’s cheap

Absolutely. Never been a big fan of his but if it’s cheap I’m fine with taking a flyer in him. I’m certainly not giving up a valuable asset to get him

Party Boy is our Bobby Bonilla. The gift that keeps on giving.

Reality: Lonzo Qualified offer is 14mm IF tendered. Otherwise he is a restricted FA.
My eye test sees Lonzo about as good as Payton with more upside, but here we are.
Y’all are treating him like a salary dump. What does NOLA have BtW? Draft picks from Lakers trade.
They don’t need the protected Dallas pick for 2023. ITs a swap I believe. Please correct me if anyone knows.
Do I do that and Frank? Yeah but do I even like Lonzo’s upside? Everything we hate about frank is correctable but “he is old now at 22”. SO is Lonzo. But we not talking about frank, we talking about Lavar’s son.
I don’ want Lavar anywhere near this place. I can type this all in real easy and throw in some scrub player or low 2nd rounder to make a point.
Let’s just say if Johnny Bryant wants this guy real bad, then I have a reason. But until then I don’t.
smackeddog @ 1/28/2021 4:31 PM
How about Randle, IQ and both Dallas firsts to the Mavs for Tim Hardaway Jr and Kristap Porzingis? Who honestly would do this?
fwk00 @ 1/28/2021 8:05 PM
I'm looking at Minnesota, a team in a world of hurt.

Their only pick this year is 1-3 guaranteed which means they probably will lose it.

They are spending waaaay too much money and the team chemistry sucks.

Oh, and they could use a PF.

How about Randle, Knox, Bullock, and #37 for D'Angelo Russell and spare change?

No thanks. Not a fan.

Minny just traded for Russell and gave up that sweet sweet pick to GS to exactly pair him with KAT and they will trade him away....?

The owners are unhappy with the team composition from my read. AND its an expensive roster.

I'm simply aiming high. Randle's value is as high as it gets and Kat needs help at PF (again, from what I'm reading in a small sample size).

So, D'Angelo has a hefty contract and the team is losing and losing fan interest. If I'm GM I tickle them and ask what it would cost - Randle + what? Knox a former first rounder, Bullock an expiring and a relatively high second rounder in a loaded draft in which Minny has (barring cosmic luck) 0 picks.

If no to DLo, what about Rubio and Culver for BullocK and Payton?

They have some players worth talking about and we have assets they could use.

Worth knocking on the door.

Chandler @ 1/29/2021 8:55 AM
Minny isn’t getting rid of D.Lo and even if they were I wouldn’t want him. Way too inconsistent for the dollar

They have a problem having Beasley and Edward’s who is showing flashes. There will be griping there soon for sure. But beasley strikes me as a head case and his history in Denver suggests he does not buy into team ball. So no thanks to him

Maybe a minor deal for Rubio but would they be so stupid.

It’s not a roster I’m interested in

jskinny35 @ 1/29/2021 12:28 PM
I'd be somewhat interested in Rubio as a 1-2 year stopgap but he is pretty inconsistent shooting-wise and not sure Thibs is a fan of his.
jrodmc @ 1/29/2021 1:55 PM
Yeah, that's what we need. Rubio, a PG who can't shoot consistently. I'd rather push slightly hard for Beal, provided Washingdone doesn't want all our picks and anything more than Knox, DSJ and Frankie...

Perfect is the enemy of sufficient.

The griping in Minny has already started and ownership has taken notice by my reading. And as the old baseball saying goes, "I don't need [insert high-priced player's name] to lose."

I wholly understand where you are coming from but the Knicks discussions all center around "what if" scenarios concerning the usual suspects.

Why should the FO settle for whoever falls out of a frying pan? Why not target a player who is on a losing team that's losing its shirt during a pandemic when NBA teams are losing value?

DLo ain't perfect, granted but he's an upgrade that wouldn't break the bank - unlike Beal.
