He used to play for Thibs with the Twolves, remember there were rumors Thibs wanted to trade Rubio to us for Rose bt Phil wanted Bjelica as well so the trade broke down.

He's 32, had a great year last year from outside (3pt @ .419!) - would he be a great pick up? Sure - would we have to include our Piston's second rounder? Maybe. And the way we spotted talent with IQ - I don't know that I want to give up any picks!

jskinny35 @ 1/25/2021 12:07 PM
We know Hield can shoot and he may be available. I think Harrison Barnes is like treading water and doesn't move the needle. I think we have Randle and RJ driving and using the limited floor space - if they both are pieces than we need more A.Burks type that can shoot off the dribble but are mostly space threats. What about Shamet from the Nets? See he's having a lousy year but remember he was pretty good on the Clippers before?

PG - not sure who checks all the boxes as a ball moving, defensive focused and good shooting PG at the moment (that wouldn't cost our future). Ball was the closest I could think as he plays defense, moves the ball and may be attainable. His shooting would have to improve and he is struggling with the rest of the Pels these days. Still think as good as IQ has been playing - teams are not starting to adjust and his floater isn't dropping as easily. He may get there but I see him as the perfect combo/3rd guard on a good team. We need to find a starting PG that is not ball dependent otherwise RJ and Randle will have a tough time as they like to handle a lot. Any players like that come to mind?

Jimbo5 @ 1/25/2021 2:10 PM
I think the Knick already found a special player in IQ, our point guard need is to replace the minutes of Payton. Depending on what Thibs does when frank returns, if Frank can somehow suplant paytons minutes, problem solved. Otherwise the Knicks need to find someone by the trade deadline. I dont mind IQ not starting now because we can see that Thibs can trust him to close the game, its a matter of time before IQ join RJ and Randle as 30+ minute players in the rotation.

I would rather prioritize a reliable shooter for this trade deadline. Does the Magic have any surplus shooter we can swap for DSJ? DSJ for monk is no longer an option with Charlotte's pG rotation.

In the event that he became available: Marc Gasol anyone? Still plays pretty good D and can space the floor. Improbable, but its a small move that could help us out.

Marc Gasol, who just joined the Lakers? Is going to be traded to the Knicks because....?

My thinking is that we have some guards who could help provided needed offense in their backcourt( Rivers/Burks). As I said, its improbable but if the right deal is there I'd pull it.

Feel like it's throw stuff against the wall day and see what sticks.

Knicks are going to trade their only shooters because....?

And Lakers are going to trade their one really big man because....?

How many shooters does Lakers have on their team? 5 or so? Need 1 more because....?

Report: Knicks, Clippers interested in Derrick Rose

Yeah, yeah, Derrick Rose isn’t listed in the tweet, but he’s in the piece, I assure you.

Despite the slow start to the year, Rose, who’s averaging “only” 14.8 points and 4.6 assists per game on 43/33/84 shooting, is still drawing interest from teams. That’s good to know as the Pistons gauge the market around the league for Rose and other Pistons.

Because he's got more entertaining Luka highlights than Frankie?

Oh, great. Let's also trade RJ and Mitch for Melo and Kanter while we are at it. And bring Noah and Amare out of retirement. Will be fun.

I was thinking they bring THJ back and extend Noah

Not a lot of options out there if the Knicks don’t want to spend assets. Rose for DSJ and a second rounder isn’t bad.

Keep in mind Berman said the Knicks haven’t even reached out to Detroit yet so this story doesn’t have as much legs as you would think.

Even giving up just DSJ, let alone a second rounder, for Rose is bad. Rose would demand lots of minutes and a starting spot. Yet he does nothing for our future. It is like re-uniting with your 47-year old ex because you are still childless and want someone who would bear you kids.

Rumors and articles about Lonzo to the Knicks have picked up steam lately. He' hasnt played well lately. There ia a story out there that the Knicks were considering it last summer, Quickley made it less important.

Lonzo has been struggling, his stock has dropped. A DSJr swap would give both PGa a new start. Thibs would get one of the best on ball defenders in the league, at a minimum. Maybe both players find their mojo in a new home.

Knicksfan @ 1/27/2021 8:02 PM
Knicks better make a significant move, as in a better PG to start instead of Payton and another shooter, or else it’s fools gold to want to win this season. And if that’s the case, just make it easier for me to go all in on the draft, which feels like the way to go after our suddenly classic 3-game losing streaks.

I'm all for picking up Ball and getting rid of DSJr at the same time, but it would take more than that as Ball has shown ability within the past year and DSJr seems to be getting worse as time passes. They can have DSJr or Knox and maybe a Dallas 1st for Lonzo? What's a realistic price to pay for him?

Dont believe we would need to trade Knox. Knox might benefit from Ball at PG. Pretty sure Mitch and Noel would. Lots of alley-oops. Id also offer Frank. He cant stay healthy being the biggest reason at this point. Going back to before his first game as a Knick.

If they only want DSJr. thats a tough call. Would want any first rounder to be top-something protected. We never seem to do that. Ball will be an FA, dont want to overpay.

No way I’m hell im giving up a first rounder for him

Watching the Pels game. Not hard to see why Lonzo isnt playing his best bball.

NO has lots of backcourt/wing players who can and do set up the offense.Ball/Zion/Ingram/Bledsoe among others. Ball is more of a ttraditional PG than those other players.

Lonzo might bring up the ball one trip, and not see the ball again for a few trips down the court. Hard to get into a rhythm. We alao have players who can set up the offense. Not to the point where the PG becomes extraneous, like with the Pels.

Dont know about his shooting slump, got better last season. But I see Lonzo's game taking the next step, without so many other chefs to deal with, so to speak.
