Keep the L’s coming!
Houston is starting to play some good ball and it’s going to be tight for Dallas to make the playoffs. Most underrated part of this season and the trade itself is what happens to that pick.
Randle is just 1 year older too

Love to hate KP for sure, but really love to stick it to all the trolling media who pissed all over the Knicks for making the trade. Cap space has already given us Randle and Quickley plus. That’s before we even see what the #1’s bring. Not to mention that $102 million for who knows what won’t be our problem.
And the horse he rode in on....
I’ll gladly admit I may have over reacted to this trade. I still think KP has a shit load of potential that he can reach but he isn’t really progressing. If he ever stayed healthy for years on end... tall order and a big if.
If Dallas missed the playoffs and we got a good lotto pick...that’d be nice.
I bet if offered to trade Randle for KP straight up, over half this board would jump at such an opportunity.
Reminds me of how everyone gloated when we traded an injury-prone Camby for McDyess, but Camby proved to be the more durable player with a more productive career.
And I hate KP too.

It does not remind of McDyess, lol. Here life gave us lemons and we made lemonade. Trading Canby was just bad
While Camby proved durable after he left NY, he was not mentally or physically in his first tenure here. One has to look at the moment he was traded.
As for McDyess he was repaired knee on paper was successfully recovering. His preseason play showed he had his hops back.
The other knee is the one that blew. Not to say it was all not regrettable as Camby and Nene had good careers. The pick could have been Amare.
KP came into the league with question marks which PHil was brazen enough in his arrogant manner to even vocalize. We read his concerns but also his ultimate respect for his head scouts opinion his skills were off the charts. In both cases it was accurate. KP at 7’3 was a unicorn.
Reading that KP is slower this season, rarely posts up and his volume keeps the point avg. He is proving to fulfil Phils concerns.
Prior to Dice knee injury he was durable in 6 seasons and once healthy he had a very nice run after including two back to back 82 game seasons! Granted he was not the same player but he had some good years in a different role with less airborne ability.
KP is still just 25.
I think many of us said to wait 5 years after the trade to see how it plays out for both teams. We lost on Dennis but the cap used for Randle proved productive. The draft picks will tell the tale.
The KP we had before the injury was a hell of player. But since we love to hate him, we have moved on.
Good for us.

I think the “stay healthy” is kind of the problem with guys his size. Not saying it isn’t possible, but it seems unlikely. A 7’3 stretch 4 that can truly shoot and plays D is special. No one can argue.
I think if he hired a professional agent instead of his brother he may have lasted longer. It’s possible that leaving was better for his career as the team has a new identity each year.

Apparently, he can't play stellar D anymore, given his size, you'd expect more than 1.8 blocks a game. I guess Luka can't make everyone better.
We've replaced all of his current production with a second round pick project and Randle. Who both manage to stay out of suits for games. For the missing drama, we have DSJ. And we got picks. Cuban got a mostly broke unicorn that's not helping his team win much.
Good riddance.
If there were a bigger critic of the kp trade than me I’d be surprised
That said, those numbers do make me happy and I think randles current play has intangibles not in those numbers
Nobody was a bigger KP fan than me but I feel like we dodged a bullet because the guy can’t stay healthy and it will only get worse as he gets older. Plus I don’t think he has progressed like many experts said he would. The first rounder this year has a good chance to be high and we have another one in 2023 from the trade. It’s a shame DSJ didn’t work out but other than that it turned out to be the right move. Plus dealing with Janis is a monster headache
To be fair KP has not played but a handful of games and despite all his verbal bravado regarding his recovery and how he feels, its logical for him to not play as hard. That edge is what made him special. The blocks shots and recover of the ball, the athletic feel and instinct was incredible at times. He really played hard and was special. Losing that edge he will to go for steals, chase balls out of bounds (The MIlwaukee game I thought he broke his ankle!).
Does he become the guy with that build, anemic condition, height, etc that proves durable as he goes on? Can’t say the odds are with him!
As for Janis? Perhaps much of the issues are on him but he we don’t know if KP is really insistent like Mitch is and is hard to handle. Bottom line might have been to secure a max deal.
In hindsight Knicks (even Mills!) was correct in doubting his worth giving him an extension.
In the end it was all regrettable but hoping we take care of our business and move on......
Honestly looking at the trade, I think we are forgetting we actually gave them two good role players.
THJR 17.5pts 44.3%
Burke 11pts 45%
KP has been a major disappointment, that’s not debatable. The trade still isn’t great, unless we get a lottery pick this season which looks very possible.
We had one max slot available to sign without making a trade, so saying we signed Randle with the cap space isn’t necessarily true.
We actually misused our cap in a big way, at the detriment of development.
The KP trade is Smith and three first rounders. Honestly without a regime change we wouldn’t have been able to get Quick, which leads me to believe they will nail the Dallas pick.
I still think there was a better deal out there with competent management in place. They essentially flushed the roster without information that they had commitments from Irving snd Durant.
You never get a good package rushing. Im not saying I would have maxed him, but you can never let players threaten you.

THJ was missing a lot of games, which is why it made sense to send him (and his cap hit) to the Mavs. I liked Burke, but the Mavs needed a healthy, reliable, player in the deal. Hardaway got hurt again, after he was traded. Hasnt been relatively injury free for very long.
The trade worked out well, and it created other opportunities. KP is "Robin" on the Mavs, and he's having trouble playing that role well. Imagine if he was the franchise player.

Im in this camp... we could have done better. Lets not revise history. That being said Im good with where we are and also expect this FO to do really well in this upcoming draft.
There's a very real scenario where both Knicks/Dallas both miss the playoffs. Maybe both teams win the lottery and we have 2 top 3 picks
THAT would be the fastest way to kick start the building process. Even if we end up picking 8, 12 and 32 I feel good about our FO coming away with a gem
I B all teary eyed right now! Seeing KP with a side helping of Timmy helping us to get that lotto pick! Let us all pray it continues. We deserve it!
It is crazy that Randle is playing so well, better than KP imo. KP can block shots and play good help D with his length, but he really is not getting better. And where is his shot?
I feel bad for the guy in a way, but he made his bed in this situation. Enjoy sleeping in it.
We are gonna have 2 nice picks in the middle or higher of the first round this next draft. And I think we gots 2 in the 2nd as well? Oh boy, assets.
If KP stays healthy, I wouldn't be shocked to see Dallas trade him at the deadline for a better fit next to Luka. Though, he should be fine with Luka you would think.
In other news, let's see what DSJ gots because, as crazy as it sounds, he can either be a trade asset or do some PG'ing here. (If not you take your loss.) But these short rotations are gonna bite us.

All of this is Facts.
KP would have had been a better fit next to Randle, and mitch of the bench

No regrets about the trade. He didn’t want to be here so no need for that drama anymore. I’ve moved on and happy we got multiple first rounders and flexibility. He is far too brittle to play any extended period of time
