Elf/Rose/Ntlikina
Barrett/IQ/Rivers
Bullock/Burks/Iggy
Randle/Toppin/Knox
Robinson/Noel/Gibson
Current depth chart is really only 10 deep. For a playoff run, you might want some injury backups but any “improvements” to the team need to take place in the top 10.
The team has been improving their 3pt shot to the point where I am not looking to beat up any individual player.
If I could only make one move, it would probably be to upgrade the wing. Either a SG or a SF. I.e moving Bullock down the depth chart and adding another wing next to Barrett.
Thing is, there aren’t many wings available that would be upgrades.
What’s your one move?
I have been thinking the missing pieces are a wing and point guard.
My brain says the new Orleans back court paired with rose and quickley is obtainable and ideal.
I like the idea of a pass first ball in our orbit and a shoot first three point marksman.
But random top of brain post.
Elf, Knox and bullock or Burks.

As stated by many elsewhere myself included don't do anything stupid. No cosmetic, bend to the mob, mortgage the future, clog the cap stuff please. That said, if you can do something along the lines of a DSJ/#2 for Rose deal then fine. But I don't really see anything which is better than what we have at any position. I'd actually rather see moves that portend to the future.
Down the road you want to get that guy at PG or SF/SG. No need to rush it in the pre-deadline seller's market.
Focus on 1 position, PG. Personally, I want Ball. I would make a call on who I like more, Frank or Knox, and offer the other guy and a protected 1st rounder top 5 protected 3 years out. Let Bullock's spot play out but you need to to give increased minutes to guys who really earn it. I would love got Frank or Knox to take the spot from Reggie.
I would really get behind a line up of
Ball
RJ
Frank
Randle
Mitch(Noel)
Rose
Quick
Burks
Obi
Noel(Taj)
Apart from getting Doncic, Kawhi or maybe Donovan Mitchell, I do not see for whom the Knicks might want to trade valuable assets this season. I would have been willing to package all our 2021+2022 first round picks and any player not named Julius Randle, RJ Barrett or Mitchell Robinson for Dame, but doubt that's enough value. Ball just does not look like much of an improvement over the current PG by committee approach. You do not need Zach Lavine if you have RJ, and the emergence of Randle and drafting of Obi have made Lauri Markannen and John Collins unnecessary for us. Drummond is a younger version of Deandre Jordan, and we have stepped into that river already. Would be nice to get a great 3pt gunner in the Joe Harris mode, but he is expensive and unavailable.
Sometimes, not making a move is the best move.
Oladipo ain't the same player, plus he's a FA this summer. I like Ball, but why give up anything when he's a free agent this summer as well....We need to let the year play out and and re-assess this summer.

. Agreed I’m all for standing pat or just a small move

Agree...my biggest fear is realizing we probably have the best we can get do right now at the PG position. I rather continue making low risk power moves, like rose for dsj. That was huge from a team impact perspective. Otherwise, why mess up something that's heading in the right direction, especially since we are no way close to competing for a title.
I feel like SF is the place where an upgrade would be most helpful. But there isn’t really a lot of good SF available. I’m not looking for a crazy upgrade, but if you could add a defensive SF with a little more offensive output than Bullock, you try to do that.
The guy I am staring at is Kyle Anderson of Memphis. He has one more year on his contract at 9.5mm. Memphis is sitting in 10th.
He is averaging 13 point with 38% from 3. 6’9 with a 7’2 wingspan. Decent defensive win shares at +1.3. 27 yrs old, so a little older than this core.
Can’t imagine he would be free. But if you could replace Bullock with Kyle Anderson, it’s probably worth something decent.

World Wide Wes gotta earn his keep and convince Kawhi in offseason

Yes! He is a top ten passer at his position too, maybe top 7
I’m not advocating for Dipo. If he is not the same player he was then his price drops accordingly. To what level?
Not every position need be a star. If we draft or subsequently improve the player need be tradable within reason.
Thus Dipo can be an asset for a year or two then potentially moved if development occurs from within.
Same for any other player.

Adding Leonard in the offseason would be a coup. My head has been broken too many times though to go star hunting.
I am against buying high on just about anyone. Instead where do we get our next Julius Randle at another position? To go with our upcoming picks and growing young uns.

I hope the FO/WWw will do their homework and get a feel of the possibility of signing Kawhi in the offseason. If they feel we have a good chance skip entertaining an Oladipo trade and just focus on getting Lonzo here on a reasonable trade package. Just let Bullock, Burks and Frank hold the fort for the rest of the season and hope we can sign Kawhi outright. If that doesn't happen continue the original plan of rebuilding slow and look at the possibility of signing LaVine in the next offseason when he becomes unrestricted.
If we can get Lonzo on a reasonable package, a group with Mitch, Randle, RJ and Ball with IQ off the bench can be a fun and exciting team to watch for years. The only missing piece is the starting SG/SF (Kawhi, Lavine or Oladipo)
Unless they strike Gold on next year's draft and find the starting SG/SF we need. That will be great as well.
I feel iffy about Lonzo but he's litterally everything we want in a PG. He's shooting 38% for two seasons straight on really high volume, he's proven as a passer, and is a plus defender. Not to mention he's improved every year hes been in the league but I'm not sure. We've had success with Randle in taking a chance on a young guy in hopes he'd take that next step and maybe Lonzo would do the same assuming we extend him.
Lonzo ball or Terry Rozier. Either would fill a major need as a combo guard that can shoot, create off the dribble and defend.
We need to have a firesale while we still have leverage. The reality is that we've been a huge beneficiary of the oddest season to date: (1) no COVID outbreak, (2) no major injury to a rotation player before Mitch went down and (3) having had more rest the most due to us not making the play-in tournament last season. In spite of these advantages, all that seperates us from falling to the 10th seed is a single game; 2-3 games from the 12th seed. This is NOT a recipe for sustained success. Better to shutter this and acquire assets to build the foundation of a long-term winner.
Fortunately, we are in a ripe trade market. There are so many teams competing for playoff spots, in both conferences, that have to satiate local regional networks and auxiliary business interests. This gives us the opportunity to get a serious haul for players like Julius Randle, et al, that can swing a game or two in a team's favor before and during the playoffs.
Personally, I'd start by giviving the Kings a call. If they were willing to give up their lightly protected 2021 1st round pick for Julius Randle, I'd be more than happy to oblige. Does Julius Randle and Austin Rivers for Marvin Bagley, Nemana Bjelica, Jabari Parker and their 2021 first round pick work for both sides?
I mentioned this in another thread, but I'd be more than happy to take back the Danilo Gallinari for a favorable package from the Hawks. If they were willing to give me a premium first or some combination of protected picks, pick swaps and/or their youth I'd oblige as well.

I'd be a proponent of expanding that deal to include Brandon Ingram, as well as Lonzo Ball and Josh Hart. The Zion-Ingram pairing doesn't seem to be ideal, so I think there would be motivation on the Pelicans side to indulge the idea. We could build a package around RJ Barrett, younger players and draft picks to aid in a youth movement, mitigate cost and pacify Zion with his best friend and former Duke teammate.
I still think we should have a firesale of our current team for draft picks BUT I also could live with the possibility of being the pre-LeBron Lakers, which I presume could basically be as good as the Indiana Pacers in the East.
The Pelicans are 15-21 before the All-Star break for a reason .. All 4 of the Pelicans PG (Lonzo, Bledsoe, Hart, and Reddick) are in the rotation, and are not allowed to be the play-maker PG to run the offense for the team, because of Zion & Ingram 35 minute of dribble-dribble performance. Why are these two players (Zion/Ingram) running the Pelicans offense on every possession? Example: Center Steven Adams has been a double-double 2 block center the past 5 yrs having PG Westbrook, then PG CP3 throwing him lob passes for easy dunks 2 to 4 times in a game. Today, Adam is lucky to score 8 pts off of put-backs, and grab 8 rbds a game on the Zion/Ingram Pelicans.
We need to be happy with D.Rose this season.
Will Randle in his new role as a point-forward (LOL) let Alonzo Ball run the Knicks offense? I doubt it.
Randle dont like Rivers, Quickley, or Frank running the Knicks offense. Randle only favors Payton running the Knicks offense.
And I doubt Lavine will let Randle run the offense on every possession like Randle been doing the past two seasons as a Knicks.
The 2020-21 Knicks season belong to the development of all the Knicks young-core players who been cheated-out of their NBA rookie program by our FO 4 head coaches in 4 seasons.
