Knicks · Have to give credit to Reggie Bullock (page 1)

Knixkik @ 3/16/2021 10:58 AM
He's really stepped up. Seems to be the heart and sole of Thibs' defense. He's shooting 38% from 3pt and making 2 per game. He can guard multiple positions and easy to slot in at the 2 or 3. He's only 30 years old (today). Knicks probably have to keep him on a multi-year contract this summer. It's hard to find true 3&D guys even if he doesn't really stand out. He's not a great shooter, more like above average. He's probably not a great defender, although he's very good. But his combination of skills on both sides of the floor and leadership is needed. I think he plays very well off of Barrett and Randle too. He's a limited player who will they will always look to upgrade, but we could do a lot worse.
EwingsGlass @ 3/16/2021 11:09 AM
Tony Snell seems like a decent comp. He signed 4 years 44mm and is coming off that contract. Might have been overpriced. Certainly is now that he doesn't have a starting role. Bullock's 4.7mm is due due for an increase.
martin @ 3/16/2021 11:42 AM
Of the 2 wings the Knicks have in Bullock and Burks, Bullock will be the most likely to come back IMHO. Prob around $6M

Agreed. I wouldn't be opposed to bringing both back though.

Yeah i can see that. I also see Snell as a possible bench filler here next year for cheap. He played for Thibs in Chicago and is CAA.

IMO there is zero chance the Knicks DON'T draft and/or acquire a front line wing. Just too many opportunities to draft and then one of Powell, Fournier will be offered a contract

unstopaball12 @ 3/16/2021 11:54 AM
Solid fringe rotation/ spot starter on the team

Yup, early when some fans were screaming to start Burk over bullock, i was quick to say no way, Bullock as been super solid under THIBS.

He went through some tough things last yr and he really came back very focus, thanks to our Coaching staff.

Was our best player last night

So now your expounding on “Patience”? No your all taking credit about Bullock?
Remember who signed him? Yep, that guy you love.

As for bringing them both back. I’d rather we grow or add better players. Maybe bring one back. They are solid pros and have been great. At some point what are we doing with Iggy?

TPercy @ 3/16/2021 1:51 PM
Yeah if he keeps this up we simply have to bring him back. Gotta reward our guys for stepping up but I hope it doesn’t mean we don’t pursue upgrades.
fitzfarm @ 3/16/2021 2:12 PM
Bullock was great vs nets a big credit to quick in the starting lineup gave bullock a lot of open looks .

The only person I would take to fill that sf spot is MELO

I really wouldn't unless this is an off the bench capacity

He is filling his role nicely.

Taking up that end of the roster space until the real professional BBall players return from injury

He's probably not going to be on the team after this season, but even so, let's remember he was a late second round pick. Basically a flyer. Maybe he turns into a end of rotation player eventually, or maybe he is more of an overseas player. Either way he probably isn't in the plans. Most second round picks don't become NBA rotation players, especially late 2nd round picks, so any development from him would be a bonus.

foosballnick @ 3/17/2021 8:59 AM
If it comes down to Bullock vs Burks at relatively the same cost, I keep Burks. Bullock is a good 3&D guy to have, but he can't create his own shot. Burks is probably not as good on D, but much more versatile on offense.
VDesai @ 3/17/2021 9:56 AM
3 and D wings are key in today's NBA. You probably need 2 in every rotation. The sons of Bruce Bowen. You gotta be careful - can't be paying premiums for these guys, but there is an artform to finding them.

For me, that extra versatility should be coming from a completely new player for the Knicks, it's a key ingredient that's missing wholesale from the team and one in which they will probably draft or sign which will squeeze out Burks

HofstraBBall @ 3/17/2021 12:20 PM
A NBA pro. Impacts game on several levels that many cannot appreciate or understand. Luckily we have a coach that knows basketball.
