Simple as that

I'm in agreement. They absolutely need 1 more special player - and whether that consitutes close or not is anyone's opinion - but feel like they have all of the ingredients in play

Close if we get Kawhi Leonard, and RJ, Quickley, Mitch take the next step

Im wondering about Beal. If he is so good why do the Wizards suck so bad

This would be a coup. Nothing would make me happier, I think. Except signing Anthony Davis last offseason...

NYKBocker @ 3/24/2021 8:17 AM
Gotta wonder if Rose didn't get COVID how far along we would be. That is valuable time we have lost without him. I mean we have the 3 point snipers now and just need that dynamic PG.

we haven't beaten a good team in a long time..
Allanfan20 @ 3/24/2021 9:04 AM
Not even close right now. We can’t beat Philly without Embid.

The team has somewhat morphed over the year. I think the defense has gotten better— now we have Robinson back— I am darn well aware we have not beaten a great team —-But as we continue to evaluate — I think we seem to be much closer to a team that can win big.
Now we have to replace someone to get better— someone we like— cuz all the players for the most part have been good.
I’m not sure Toppin should be playing now— it would make great sense to find someone to get Julius down to 33-35 minutes for the long haul— or do what van Cindy did and play 3 guards more — cuz we have them

Is brining in Powell a good choice? Is Powell better than bullock?

I’m pretty set with Robinson Quickley and Burks as three main bench players— gives us a great bench. Noel is good to start games Barrett’s going nowhere Payton Rose frank pg is good solid not great

But that pertains to just about every team in the league. Put Lebron or Giannis or a healthy KD on Detroit and they're probably a top team.
JesseDark @ 3/24/2021 9:35 AM
1 game difference between position 4 and 8 in the playoff race. The optimists in me says we can make 4. Either way it’s gonna be wild and fun down the stretch.

Well based on what I'm hearing, the knicks will not trade assets for RENTALS (which i agree) but if they can get a verbal commitment (to resign) from Drummond or Dipo they will make a move.

We need a solid backup for Randle, everything I have read, heard, and saw with my own eyes indicates OBI is super lost, looks a lot like KNOX

fishmike @ 3/24/2021 10:37 AM
we are not close to being a top team.

However its great to see some simple practices paying off.

Selling when you are supposed to: Thanks to that and the extra picks we have Mitch and IQ.
Drafting and being patient. RJ is really showing high ceiling promise.
Staying flexible. Signing safe value guys to short deals has kept the roster super flexible
Coaching matters. Its not just Thibs, Its Thibs + whole staff being on same page as FO. You can see real synergy and that is critical...

Plenty of time to phuck this up, but if we just stay the course, be smart with the money and keep drafting BPAs we are on our way to having a squad. I still say your best bet is the Detroit model where you have 6-7 borderline all stars who are 2-way high IQ players. You can win that way.

BigDaddyG @ 3/24/2021 11:24 AM
I'd say we're close to being .500, one game over .500 or one under .500. This team still needs major improvement in order to hang with the big boys consistently. Hopefully some of it comes internally, but at some point this team will need another star.

We are that 1 big piece away from being really good. Randle has become a star and Barrett and Quickley look like up and coming major pieces. The role players of Mitch, Noel, Bullock, Burks, and Rose all fit their roles perfectly. Adding Ball would make a difference, not sure if he's the big piece, but he's a piece. But this team is moving in the right direction and has a lot of keepers.
