You guys can relax. Both of you made it past the deadline
in my plans we are only getting 1 free agent this year. (Guessing ball)
This means we would still have up to 35m of cap space.
we can spread the money around for returning players for 1 year and a team option the following year.
I expect to see
Ball
2 new drafted guys (we will use 2 picks for ball)
Returning players

veteran scorer
streaky shooter
competent secondary ball handler
average but willing defender
doesnt create much for teammates
good 1on1 scoring skill set from several zones
decent finisher and shows quickness despite being an average NBA athlete
coachable
GREAT in his current role. NOT a guy you are going to be happy with after you pay him. He's being paid like the 7th-8th guy in the rotation on a young/rebuilding team. He's bringing great value at his current price point.
There is nothing not to like about Burks.
I would be fine if our offseason was bringing everyone back and just drafting the 3 BPAs we can
resign
Rose/Burks/Bullock/Taj: similar price points
Noel: gonna have to pay him a bit but he's worth locking up for 4 years as a backup/spot starter. He's 26 and a great fit w/ Thibs for the right price. Can backup Mitch if we bring him back as well.
Frank: 2 years $8mm, stick around we'll work with you. He's my fucking Ron Baker, NDour, Nate Wolters
At some point he may turn into your Joe Alexander and we'll have to give up on him
we got a little time yet. Continuity and chemistry matter. I think we are really seeing that with the Randle/Bullock/RJ trio. Those guys are really learning to play off each other and getting as a unit. The more of that the better
With Frank, it has to be a value contract for the Knicks, he just hasn't displayed enough IMHO. I am not sure if you are suggesting 2 years @ $4M each or $8M each.
This past year:
DRose - $7.8M (trade)
Burks - $6M
Payton - $6M
Noel - $5M
Bullock - $4M although he was a holdover from last year
Rivers - $3M
Those guys have displayed value for contract and have played tons of minutes for long stretches. Can Frank do the same? I am questioning that
$4mm a year (like Rivers/Bullock) and idk if Frank can do that or not. I do know even if he doesnt score his defense is still top flight, so the gamble (like with the other guys) is he outplays that contract. If he shows some durability and matures into a better offensive player we could have another young stud. If he doesnt we have a defensive sub and good practice guy who's a money balancer in a trade
Frank has become my Charlie Ward ....
Burks and Bullock's offense/defense hustle performance in the last 20 Knicks games has done a 360 for the better of a .500 Team. I'm sure they have RJ Burks & Bullocks names on the "Most Improve Player" list too, maybe not as high as Randle winning it all.
So far .. Watching Knicks ball this season (1-10) Is a Big TEN! Coach Thibs magic are turning RJ Burks Bullock and Randle into NBA Starters. Those four players in a lineup show confidence in each other.
Will the Knicks grab a playoff spot? Well ..
How the Knicks do in the playoff will determine players $$$ contract !!!
The official called a illegal 3 second defensive violation. Randle as usual went to the line. Bullock comes over and says something to him and Randle respectfully backed off with no complaint. (The little things say it all) trust respect friendship and teamwork within a team.

Rumor was Reggie told Julie “If you say another word we gonna give you my haircut on the next road trip”.
I trust the Knicks will get the contracts done. There's give and take for contract value.
Burks is an extremely high level role player/spot starter. He did some great things last season (with GSW/Phi) and again, this year. I think he has value around the league, but let's not get carried away.
He signed a 1yr/$6m contract with the Knicks. If another team would have paid him $10m+ or given him a multi-year deal, he would have (or should have taken it). Maybe his camp shops around for a bigger/longer term deal, but I wouldn't be surprised if he's back with the Knicks on a 2yr/$15m, player option on the 2nd.
You want them on your team, unless you can get something better. I suppose the same can be said for any player outside the 1st team all-NBA'ers.
Burks really is such a vital piece. He is just a winner. So many recent games you can confidently say we don’t win without him. Bullock is so important too in his role, but Burks is a step above a role player. A guy who takes over games in spurts when needed. Still only 29 years old, he’s a must to resign, even on a multi year deal. He’s a quality player in a bench role or as a starter. The 3pt shooting and secondary playmaking is something so hard to find and so valuable when you find it. I don’t see how Fournier or Powell would really be a tremendous upgrade over what he brings.

That’s probably pretty fair. Injuries has always been the question mark. And it seems like he went from a slasher early in his career to a pure shooter now. He’s a solid defender too. Well worth the investment.

Something in this range or even more I can agree with. Burkas is 29 still in his prime. He can shoot, good locker room guy etc
If we don’t resign him someone will overpay
The process that has accumulated talent will both fail and succeed going forward. Have to assume there will be other players at discounts. What got Burks here? Covid related off season was crazy short and he likely had small window to make choices. He got a great opportunity to play at perhaps a discount price. Does that mean we lock him in? Fans like predictability. We like to see a path for a future. It don’t work that way.
I like Alec and the job he has done. I’d like to see one of Burks and Bullocks go because there are other choices with higher ceilings. I can’t see it, but that don’t mean it can’t happen.......
