Knicks · I did not care for the "fck Trae Young" chants (page 1)

BRIGGS @ 5/27/2021 12:22 PM
We can boo whoever we want--but it stinks that we had to go there. If you say Fire Dolan you get kicked out. It was cool it was a rowdy group--I appreciate the fan intensity--but leave the fcks at home.
ToddTT @ 5/27/2021 12:24 PM
Yep. Low class.

Now, if Reggie Miller came out of retirement...

Welpee @ 5/27/2021 12:24 PM
Agreed.
knicks1248 @ 5/27/2021 12:35 PM
Most of these fans in the early 20s never really experience that Reggie Miller classic.

To be honest MSG is making that young man famous, so he shouldnt mind the heckling

KnickDanger @ 5/27/2021 12:37 PM
I've held my tongue on the game thread -- not wanting to be the grumpy old get off my lawn guy (but I own it ; ) ) -- but thank you Briggs for saying so. Limboing under the Lowest Common Denominator is what we do as a society now I suppose. Bimbos breaking into the monkey exhibit to feed them Flaming Hot Cheetos so you can post it on Instagram, punching out a flight attendant because you don't think you should "have to" wear a mask, cursing and spitting on Trae Young because he is an excellent player doing his job...and so on and so forth....

Get off my lawn dammit!

firefly @ 5/27/2021 12:52 PM
There was a guy leaning over the tunnel as he was leaving at the end of the game yelling at him and giving him two birds and I just thought, hey dude, games over, players have left the court, there's kids here. Have some class. Shame.

I like the crowd getting into it. I don't like the spitting but the chanting is electrifying. But what's more, you're not going to get it to stop. So embrace it.
jskinny35 @ 5/27/2021 1:08 PM
I propose next home game the fans remain silent but all wear Bird hats!

I can stop the pollution of our oceans -- should I embrace it?

This behavior shows no intelligence or class. Brings us down to the level of Philly fans booing and throwing crap at Santa Claus. Heckling is fun. This makes you look bad and stupid. So have at it kids.

VDesai @ 5/27/2021 1:43 PM
Focus the energy on giving the Knicks some cheers- its been 18 months since they've heard them.
Clean @ 5/27/2021 1:53 PM
I love them. Chants are part of sports. Spitting and throwing stuff crosses the line. I personally don't believe in magical evil words. So that is my perspective.

Pretty easily solved. Start hitting the Knicks with technical fouls if the vulgarity is over the top.
Tier one swear words not allowed— not needed— not necessary.

The guy who actually spit at trae young— reality is he should face criminal charges. How would he like to be spit on?

Nalod @ 5/27/2021 2:03 PM
Sophomoric wrestlmania younger white male dominated type crowd. Great fans can get hyped but balding taunts is just nonsensical. The Mecca was not representative.

Exactly..... he’s becoming notorious, and showing he is more than a foul machine.

Also Knicks might have their first rivals. Prior to this I know their was saltiness between the Knicks and the Kings and the Mavs.... but those are west coast teams. The Hawks can legit be a nice rivalry similar to what the Knicks has with the pacers and heat.

wargames @ 5/27/2021 2:27 PM
It’s not out the norm, except for the scale. I seen pictures of fans making fun of Derek Fishers daughter’s eye cancer and Paul pierce getting stabbed.

You just don’t see it on such a large scale, but there have always been scumbag fans. If anything the handout and organization of “Trae is Balding” chants was the biggest negative.

We had beef with the Kings? Over what?

Not understanding why people are so sensitive to the balding chant? I thought it was pretty harmless and funny. The profanity chants have got to go.

This series could very well be his leap into superstardom. He is getting the public stage and he's already hit a playoff gamewinner. I give him credit - like Reggie it seems to be fueling better play from him.

Its a little surprising how much hate was out there for him to start with. I don't like how he initiates contact for all these foul calls, but the guy has a killer game. Unlimited range, crazy handles, crafty, insane court vision...very smooth.

Seems like the only thing we can really do to defend him is try to stick in front as much as possible, if he beats us off the dribble, meet him as soon as possible and force the floaters and alley oops from further out. He can hit those 40 ft 3 pointers, but I'd rather get him to shoot more of those...

Same reason we hated Tim Hardaway Sr., Reggie Miller, Michael Jordan, Alonzo Mourning, Scottie Pippen, etc. in the 90s. They were the main opposition blocking us from our goal.
