Had to happen. Got more than I thought he would, but if that's the cost, so be it.

Cap hold was 9.7 with his early bird around 13.6. This could be structured using the cap hold with a trade move coming to preserve 4m cap space.

ekstarks94 @ 8/2/2021 8:29 PM
Not surprised by these moves at all in a vacuum. They were not getting Ball…..he is not a Thibs player…FA this season and next season are washed…..and they are not trading the kitchen sink for Dame or a Beal…and there trove assets does not even get them to the doorstep…

The assets that grease the skids on deals are young players with promise……summer league Knox …..FIBA Frank…..iso zo with less iso….etc. One or more of these players pop then this get you in the discuss to trade into close to or above 10 in the draft….or go get Dame with emptying everything….you need young players to pop….

Whoa, nice call even if there isn't a trade.

If we had to lose a FA I always rather it be Bullock. He is too streaky and too one dimensional.

fournier will start at SF and Burks will be off the bench. I like that Burks can hit shots in the 4th and clutch. Not a lot of guys have that gene

Separately, Fournier has the advantage of hurting the Celts a bit. that is an added bonus

still preferred Oubre because of his length, but Fornier should be more reliable shooter

Right now Knicks bench got Burks, IQ, Grimes, Rose, McBride and that's a lot of guards

Gonna keep an eye on this and see if any of these players are sign and trade material

Starting to see comments on twitters accounts that have the name "Knicks Fan" in the tittle making comments wondering if in the next few days if a trade is coming.
Chandler @ 8/2/2021 8:45 PM

no disrespect to Bullock because i think he's a quality person and outperformed for us

That said, he was a liability though because of his extreme lack of ability to create his own shot, and he was better as a spot up shooter than someone who can fly around and shoot. The reaility is someone on the opponent gets a breather guarding him.

hindsight is a bit 20/20. If we knew TT could coach up Burks, Bullock and Noel to the extent he did we would have been better with year deals. (Flip side of course is if they stunk up the joint you'd be stuck with them)

i don't know what FO has up its sleeve but i hope it yields a pg in some way. That was our area for biggest potential improvement.

Because i'm a sucker and eternal optimist I'm looking ahead to KK or Obi making a step forward the way RJ, Julius or even Bullock did.

franco12 @ 8/2/2021 8:49 PM
I am not crazy about the signings, but I feel like most of these are deals we can trade without having to invent the moves with a first round pick.

true. But it will only be a problem if the rookies play at an IQ level or better (which is a nice problem to have). My suspicion is that these guys ride pine and i wouldn't be surprised if McBride starts in the G league AND i like the guy a lot. Thibs historically doesn't play rookies much

And at the moment Rose is the starter, not the bench, though i hope that changes

EwingsGlass @ 8/2/2021 8:52 PM
Rose/Vildoza/McBride
Barrett/IQ/Grimes
Fournier/Burks/Knox
Randle/Toppin
Robinson/Noel

Sims/Sims

Signing ability?
Room exception
7mm or so
Gibson on Vet Min

jskinny35 @ 8/2/2021 8:54 PM
Don't think it's realistic to think D.Rose can replicate last season's high level of play consistently during the next three years. Hope Knicks rest him so he gives us vintage Rose every 3 games or so. We still need a starting PG so unless Vildoza is our surprise starter - who is going to start? IQ is really more of a 6th man type and don't think Thibs will start a rookie. Maybe Schroeder or R.Jackson on some type of short deal is necessary at this point?

Please say the plan is not to start D.Rose - he'll be toast at the midway point of his 1st season and we'll have his contract for 2 more seasons.

Quite frankly, I'm the same

Knicks can put the nail in the coffin on free agency by resigning Frank right now :)
martin @ 8/2/2021 9:04 PM
Dahhhhmmmm

Overpay IMHO but fits nicely with Dallas

martin @ 8/2/2021 9:05 PM
Bucks gonna miss him

jskinny35 @ 8/2/2021 9:05 PM
PJ Tucker signed 2 year deal for $15m with Miami Heat - good pickup for the Heat

me too: CHarlotte and Sacramento each have excess pgs and have needs. Can see Obi or Mitch being involved and depending on the particulars (e.g. Fox) possibly even RJ (though i hope that's not the case)
