Doesnt shoot the 3 as well as Bullock, but maybe a better defender. Meh, but I can see how it makes sense if the cost isn't too crazy.

Berman reports we are offering draft picks for Ross. At $12.5mm per year, I don't really understand the use of draft picks to acquire this guy. I would have guessed we were getting draft picks to assume his salary.

If we give away draft picks and cap space for Ross— any faith in front office will be warn quick. Front office got LUCKY with reemergence of Randle

Doesn't even make sense as a rumor. Why pay out anything for Ross in order to pay a higher salary than Burks & Bullock (combined) last year. Why not just work to resign Bullock and/or Burks?

He's a scoring wing....they are looking for that...if it is 32 & 58 to acquire him I'm ok with that...

With one year left on his deal, if we shed Knox in the trade it might be a wash salary wise vs. resigning one of those guys. Ross is a better defender and has historically been comparable as a scorer (though his shooting% leaves something to be desired).

Chandler @ 7/29/2021 2:07 PM
any chance this isn't part of a larger deal, e.g., for us to get to #8??

i agree with others, as a straight up trade i'd be surprised. what's he offering as an UPGRADe over Burcs or Bullock --- if it's sideways why trade picks

NYKBocker @ 7/29/2021 2:14 PM
me no likey

He's a legit scorer from the wing. I'd say he's a moderate upgrade. I think he's a few years older than Reggie and he makes more than what Reggie and Burks are likely going to make. I wouldn't be dead set against this move. It depends what's in play.

I'll admit i haven't followed him but checked out his stats and was underwhelmed. do we need ot give up assets for a guy like this? seems like those are the kind of guys you get in FA (where we have done so and gotten better value).

i'll keep my fingers crossed so that if there is any truth to this, it's part of a larger deal. Orlando seems to be a mess right now. I can see them wanting to keep both lotteries. but i also can see them wanting picks and youth

they've either drafted worse than us or had bad luck for a loooooong time

He’s not that good at scoring.

You kidding me....he was great in Toronto and with the Magic he used kill us...that counts for something...solid defender...if it is 32 & 58..great...if 21 & 58 not my preference...but ok. They are trying to get the wing they wanted in FA before FA starts that's all....

Same…

I don’t love it but I also don’t think we’re going to end up with anyone better at 32/58

smackeddog @ 7/29/2021 3:48 PM
Only one more year at $11.5mil- think that would be the reasoning for it, better to take on an expiring $11.5mil than commit to a 3yr $10per for Bullock or Burke
MaTT4281 @ 7/29/2021 3:53 PM
As far as I'm concerned, it's all smoke until something happens. We have 4 more hours until the draft. Prepare to hear more rumors or different pieces involved as we continue.

If there is any truth to it, not a fan of using cap space this way - much rather bring back Bullock or Burks to build with the chemistry we've already got. Would be OK parting with the 2nd rounders.

BRIGGS @ 7/29/2021 3:53 PM
Just resin Burks
Buick’s won’t cost draft picks and 11.5
And he’s better?
MaTT4281 @ 7/29/2021 4:22 PM
For what it's worth, we also asked Orlando about the #8 pick.

He has 2 years left. $12.5 and $11.5

League Average eFG last year was .538. Ross' eFG was .485.

League Average 3pt% was 36.7%. Ross shot 33.7%

Feel like with 12.5MM and a pick they can create this kind of performance without too much trouble. He's getting 15pts off of 13 shots for a pretty bad team. That's not really that impressive to me. I don't see it.
