If traded he should be discounted given his injury prone status. His outlook? I don’t know.
what would he cost? I don’t know.
Then we’d have to pay him. Until you get down to it it would be a nice addition.
Once you do then the conundrum becomes apparent.

Agreed. I suspect a lot of teams are happy

Good summer league overall

IQ was able to work on his reads and get plays as the main option and adjust to the new rule that benefitted him last year
Toppin showed more assertiveness and quick decision making with the ball aside from playing hot potato like we saw last year. He played like Amare during the melo era.
Grimes played good D and had a strong finish; he really reminds me of Alec Burks, if we trade Burks in a package deal in the future, we have Grimes who can come in and fill that gap
McBride showed his good defense and surprising good shot at the 3, hope he can get burn this year, but I think he gets the frank situational role. G League stint will help him this year
Sims is a low baggage solid pick at 58. Sets great screens, good finisher even in traffic and rebounds the ball well. Perimeter D on switches can improve, but at 58 and a stint in G league will do wonders. Good insurance in case we trade Robinson

JJ must be 99% healthy and back in shape when Grizz made the trade for center Adams, plus trading Bledsoe for two defensive transition guards in Rondo & Bev. Plus the Knicks wouldn't need JJ if they used their 19th pick on a NBA-Ready foward Jalen Johnson, who's SL game performance showed he fits great into coach Nate's rotation without a problem (having Tatum's potential).

It would've been a great exciting Knicks SL Games, if our Knicks FO used the 19th draft pick on Jalen Johnson to replace Knox position in the SL games .. McBride, Grimes, Jalen, Obi, and Sims.
I'm also not happy having Evans, Burks, (Raw)Knox, or Barrett's weak defense at the SF position to replace Bullocks offense/defense hustle performance.

A 2nd unit of Rose, Quickley, Jalen, Obi, and Noel/Gibson would've been rough on many teams to out-score on.

Last season we didn’t have depths in a few positions. Rose was de facto the only legitimate PG, we were missing a wing and after Mitch’s injury, we were left with only Noel at center. In this offseason that has all changed and now we really have a well-rounded team.

But I have to admit that part of me regrets it a bit for the reason that McBride and Grimes unfortunately probably won’t play at all. I wish I was wrong because I’m really looking forward to seeing them on the floor.

That is one of the problems with integrating rookies into a rotation when you have a win-now playoff contending team...something Knicks fans haven't been used to for a long time.

Quality will usually rise to the top, though, so you just have to wait and see.

I've become fascinated by your pretzel logic on this board. It's like watching a train wreck. You seem to have forgotten the timeline.....

- Barrett started alongside Bullock last year as interchangeable 2/3 so is not his replacement

- Burks was on the roster last year - and will likely be in the same role. So he is also not Bullock's replacement

- Knox was not in the rotation last year and barring injury or miracle of spectacular improvement in play - will likely not be in the rotation this year - so he is also not Bullock's replacement

- EF is essentially Bullock's replacement. While he may likely not be as effective on Defense, it is misleading for you to bring Bullock's offense into the equation. Bullock is essentially a spot up - streaky 3 point shooter. Fournier is much more dynamic on offense as a playmaker and in terms of creating his own shot. They are also pretty comparable in overall 3pt%.

- You're worried about losing Bullock's defense but then go on to propose a 2nd unit that will be weaker defensively than the current roster.

- You've evaluated JJ based and would place him directly in the rotation based on 2-3 Summer League games and a freshman year that he barely played due to opting out. In case you haven't figured out the current Knicks process, after years of failure they are bringing in "team oriented" guys who are bring it on both Offense and Defense (Does Jalen he even play Defense?) and are willing to work. Hard to tell if Jalen fits that mold - but obviously a significant amount of NBA teams passed on the guy in spite of his skill set - which speaks to questions about his character. The Hawks already have Hunter, Reddish and Hill ahead of JJ on their depth chart at SF. Nate stresses defense just as much as offense - and especially so given Trae's defensive limitations. I guess we'll see - but it is likely JJ will sit as a rookie in spite of your portraying him as HOF ready. Point is, why cry over spilled milk when we really won't know until several years from now how these careers all pan out.

Man I hope the Knicks have the luxury of Noel/Mitch health so that Jericho can marinate in the GLeague for a year

Could be a mirage but damn this kid was very impressive.

So explosive but at same took his time and was very solid defensively — did not jump at every fake and handled 1 v 1 switches on smaller ball handlers outstanding. Very nice insurance pick up I hope.

And the picks he sets are super solid. He'll learn a lot from Mitch, Noel, Taj

For all I know, he might be right about Grimes going left...but in the clip this analyst shows us, Grimes is probing, but makes the right decision by not attempting to force the issue. There were literally 3 players in position to stop his penetration if he had attempted to play hero ball. He had his head up and seemed to be thinking of passing or penetrating based on what he saw, but I thought he played it right. We'd be screaming if he forced it and was stripped or got a charging call.

I thought I saw him do it once in SL (not sure, though), but my take is he prefers to go left and penetrate a little bit, but then pull up for a midrange fall away jumper. We don't have a large selection of plays to look at, though.

I thought Grimes showed polish...I wondered about him early on, he seemed hesitant, but he gained confidence and looked a lot better as he played more games.

And he boxes out when there's a shot. I was very impressed by his play.
