With 2 or maybe 3 more games left, the question is does the team continue to need to see Quickley at PG (knowing he is a lock for the rotation and will get reps in preseason), or should they use this time to evaluate guys like McBride and Rokas at the PG position? To me, given the odds are Rokas goes back to Europe and isn't back with the team till next year, it makes logical sense to give him more of a look now with our coaches so they can get a better feel for what he brings. I'd also like to see McBride handle the point a bit more. Personally I think Quickley and even Toppin to some degree have shown what they needed to show.

As I have already written, some have compared Luca to Campazzo. Campazzo was a star in Europe and one of the top players. Luca wasn't even close to that. Of course that doesn’t mean he’s a bad player and I’d say he’s on a contract like this “low risk, high reward”, but he’s far from a safe thing and if I have to bet I’d rather put money on that he’ll never be a serious NBA player than to he will.

And his case is certainly not helped by the arrival of Kemba and the great games by McBride.

Agreed he wasn't gonna have super high odds of being a major contributor, but he did win a Spanish league championship and was Finals MVP in the process. Stats over in Europe are tempered by the pace of the game, and he certainly was a solid player. There were some nice flashes in the Olympic qualifiers, but then he seemed lost in Olympic play and didn't get many mins or show much in his brief summer league career. Now with the injury odds are low he remains a Knick, but his style of play (if he can get that shot working) could fit the NBA pretty well with the right team.

it's a good question. If they wanted my opinion, i would continue to do what they're doing. They are getting to see IQ and Obi in a new way, which will better inform what they want to do in pre-season. I also think it's helping Obi's game, knowing he's a bona fide option in a role he's good at

Also knowing full well that Rokus is only allowed to play 3 summer league games per his arrangement with Barcelona. Next game we could see a lot more of him.

Meh, assists only does not make a good PG. Just like blocks only does not make a good defender. Sims had multiple blocks yesterday and played his worse defensive game by a longshot.

My perfect situation for Quick is for him to play PG the rest of summer league and use those PG skills he learns to be able to attack a scrambling defense. Rose will put the defense is scramble mode and swing the ball for Quick to make the right reads and put in the finishing touch by making the right play. I think Quick has improved as a PNR ball handler a lot this offseason and that will be huge for next season. One thing I have always loved about Quick is his knowledge of team balance on the floor and directing players to move to improve it. He also did that last year and that is a good PG skill.

I found it interesting that they didn't let Rokas play much (At all?) in the second half.

The Knicks brass might already think they know what he can do and that he is heading back overseas no matter what he does in SL, so he won't get the 20+ minute game I was hoping to see for him yesterday after he looked so good in minutes he was on the court in the 1st half.

So unless the Knicks want to keep him and buy out his Euro contract, I'm guessing he won't get big minutes in his next game.

We will see.

NYK still has a chance at the Championship game @ 2-1.

Only 8 undefeated teams left and no 3-0 teams yet.

Win out and we're in.

Last year I was so confident in coach Thibs Defense (username is DefenseWinsChampionships on our Jets forum) that I dropped $777 on NY to JUST MAKE THE PLAYOFFS @ +1,400 ODDS and won back $11,655! I was a career gambling loser before that win but not anymore I'm now in the money lol

I live these types of + payout value bets.

Vegas loves our Knicks talent and youth so much to the point of having our Knicks and then Detroit as both the #1 favorites to win the Summer League Championship (+550 for both NY/DET).

17 minutes until game time baby!

So, about this;

What are you talking about?

@ 2-1 I'm still alive because there are only 7 undefeated teams remaining and no 3-0 teams yet...

Nonetheless win or lose making a friendly bet has made our last two wins so much more exciting for me and Summer League too because I keep watching games hoping the undefeated teams lose 1 lol

He'll be at the vs Pistons summer league game, watching, apparently- maybe reports of his Knicks demise have been exaggerated

Hopefully he doesn't strain or break something while watching.

Update on why he was still seen wearing a boot recently will clear that all up

Hopefully- though the last update I heard (was it twitter or something?) was that the focus of his offseason was going to be getting his body right and free throws, nothing else, which suggests his foot maybe isn't healed enough to risk much else

Knicks summer league starts to date? anyone have them?
smackeddog @ 8/14/2021 5:34 PM
Certainly seems to be talk out there that Miles Turner to the Knicks for Knox and Mitch plus 2 second rounders is a done deal and will be announced next week- some caller to Knicks fan tv who has some sort of links to the heat said last night (they said he revealed the Lowry trade, though that one would have been easy to guess), and today on Knicks film school a caller with links to Craptors marketing said they’d heard the same thing. They’ve likely both just heard the same rumor, as I don’t see any way we can make this deal cap wise- though it would fit with Knox suddenly being withdrawn from summer league.

Not sure why Turner would make sense when we’ve also just spent $9mil on Noel

Could be from Indiana trying to create a market. I'm lukewarm. Turner isn't really a stretch big, but a guy who can hit an occasional three. The Knicks would gain physicality, but lose switchability on the perimeter. Mainly, I'm not sure how Turner blends with Randle.

Me too, if the reason the pa ers want toymove Turner is because he doesn't work next to sabonis then why would having him next to randle work? Though there was the video of them. Working out together. I think there's definitely a rumor doing the rounds, I just don't think it's true

Jaren Jackson Jr is the guy we should focus on.. he will be up for his qualifying offer at the end of the season then a free agent. His dad is a coach with Westchester Knicks. JJJ has potential to be the star of this team.

What an enjoyable summer league this ones been- best since... David Lee, Nate and Frye? But it's not just our team I've enjoyed watching, just seems this years rookies and sophomores have been very talented and a lot have performed well
