this is so the opposite of what this franchise did for the first 20 years or so of Dolan owning it. We're almost up there with OKC!

Still no Theo...I'll have to take the plus away and just grade this an A.

That's a lot of random second rounders! Couldn't even guess which trades some of those are from! Great to see zero in the outgoing picks column. Pretty sure this is the only time in my KNicks fandom where that has been the case!

Have to hope he joins Sims on a 2-way contract.

It was one of the best moves ever - I was on board trading him when it wasn't popular. Don't know if Phil Jacksons trade & subsequent moves would have paid off better, but we sure did well with that move and subsequent moves - a change from when we were trading picks away for Eddy Curry & his ilk!

So the Marcus Morris trade gave us Quickley, McBride, and Rokas. Not bad at all. I wanted to keep him but that is great return.

I believe the only reason why KP wanted out is because he caught that rape allegation and wanted out because of it. But yeah I had a lot of emotional attachment because my daughters grandparents are both born and raised in Latvia and during his rookie season we got to meet him during shoot around during the Orlando Magic game and then after the game he spent over an hour talking about Latvia to my daughters Grandma I didn't know what they were saying in Latvian lol but it was awesome. He was just so happy to see someone from Latvia. A Country no one makes it out of. As soon as he heard my daughters Grandma speaking Latvian to him he immediately stopped warning up and came over to her and let her know where to meet him after the game it was pretty cool man. But yeah. I'm glad we traded him because we received excellent value in return but I can't lie, all those nights watching KP and the Knicks with my wife, my daughter and her grandma were moments I'll cherish forever.

Don't worry. Rokas will be over soon to replace any lingering feelings for the Unigone

Knixkik wrote:I think before today the off-season was best described as boring, vanilla etc, with moderate improvement. It wasn't good or bad to me, it was just fine. Most seemed very underwhelmed, and expected more. The common theme the day going into free agency was the most likely scenario was probably Fournier/Schroder or a similar combination. Adding Kemba came completely out of left field, and the mood here has done a complete 180. We expected another shoe to drop, but this was a shock. While we don't know if Kemba will be the star level player he once was, his contract will limit any real concerns, as well as the guard depth. We got the combination of Rose/Kemba for less than Ball (as well as DeRozan on his own.) Adding Kemba and Fournier to replace Payton/Bullock, drafting Grimes and McBride (while adding a future 1st rounder from Charlotte) and bringing back the remaining of the core from last year is the home run of home runs when you consider all of which was done within cap space. Additional, each contract is non-guaranteed in the last year. Leon and team have successfully added talent, added youth, maintained continuity from last year's success, and maintained future flexibility with both tradable contracts and future draft picks. The outcome is unknown, but big, big win today!

I couldn't have put it better myself.
Now, that doesn't mean things couldn't have gone better for them. They could've had an impact rookie come off the bench if someone slid and they were able to move up (which they tried). A lot of FAs signed elsewhere, a lot via sign and trade. I'm sure Fournier and Kemba were not the top FA targets. But all things considered, the Knicks did a hell of job IMO.

Kemba/Rose/Quick/McBride
RJ/Burks/Quick
Fournier/Burks/Grimes
Randle/Toppin
Mitch/Noel/Taj

Luca/Rokas
Knox
Pinson
Sims

I think we my have the best bench in the league this season. Hopefully Thibs doesn’t run Randle and RJ into the ground again.

The offseason is a success if Kemba can play 20 strong minutes a night. Otherwise it’s a little underwhelming.

We are likely the 7th seed in the East. Not better than Miami or Chicago. Not better than Atlanta at the moment. The East is a lot better we are going to be battling for the playoffs. Boston and Charlotte should also be better. Going to be interesting.

Boston was offering us Jaylon Brown + picks while know nothing morons like Stephen A Smith and Mike Greenberg were calling Phil a retard for even picking up the phone to listen to offers

Thibs is from the Pat Riley tree where 8 man rotations are a religion

Except those years where Thibs plays 10 man rotation like last year?

And Thibs and Riley never play rookies, until they do.

Thibs definitely doesn't play the modern 3pt game, until he did and his team was good at it

Bulls are not better than the Knicks. Not sure what you are smoking there. Still ranking the Heat based on the bubble? Lowry helps but last time they were good they had Dragic giving them 16/5 so its not like Lowry is just icing on the cake, Mia lost guys also.

Knicks are bringing back a team that was on pace to 50+ over 80 games and upgrade PG, SF and add depth. Knicks have a straight up squad and they have a great bench. They likely lack the elite talent to close vs. Milw or a healthy Bkl but the rest is up for grabs in the east. 7th? GTFO
