So I think Randle's year totals will be: $20M (2021 season, age 27), (extension start) $26M, $28M, $30M, $32M (player option).

Wondering what effect, if any, this has on a Mitch extension. Don't get the impression he'll be open to leaving any money on the table, but maybe another year of Randle talking to him about what they can build in NY will veer him a few steps back from Jarrett Allen money.
somewhere on ultimatekings.com there is a user king1287 saying:
SEE! Our 2023 FA target, Julius Randle, is locked up!
I told you cap space is worthless!

I would be in no rush to extend Mitch
Dude needs to show what he can do for more than a hand full of games. He needs to expand his game develop a perimeter shot or he can easily be replace.
Hoopshype rated him as the 15th slowest player in the NBA
he's now untradeable and thats a small price to pay.
Julius dragged this team out of the gutter last year. He's got some limits and limitations but effort isnt one of them. He and Thibs have a bromance brewing and everything about Jules says good fit. He plays hard on both ends.
Is Randle even a top 20 player? https://www.persources.com/ranking-the-t... not sure who from that list he knocks off... Ben Simmons. Anyone else is up for debate. So while everyone knows and kind of expected Jules to play it straight and settle into whatever max deal was offered we instead somehow get him at a discount. Its really pretty impressive... adding Kemba for $8mm and Jules for less than guys like Derozan and Lowry is a really impressive finish to an offseason that started pretty underwhelming

+1. Never thought we would see the day a 107 mil extension would be an underpay.

Remember Juwan Howard getting the first $100M contract 20 years ago?
Stability and continuity. I like it.
I hope we have lots of success, and Julius makes a ton from endorsements as well.

100%!!
Stark difference between this "team first" approach, and Melo's "me first" approach. I agree with the sentiment that this stems in part from players sensing something special happening in NYC and wanting to be a part of that.
So impressed with Randle's move. Uncommon in this era and it's a huge statement. This sort of leadership and example will impact our culture in a major way. Guys will respect it because Julius demonstrated HIS intent through his actions. Wow!!!

he really loves it here. He's a real blue collar throw back. He's our Kyle Lowry. He's found that next level when a lot of guys stop growing. He's a guy who you can really build any kind of team around. A big burley 2 way forward who can score from anywhere and handle the ball

You know I have been Randle's biggest supporter from the very first day when we signed him. I wanted to keep him as our centerpiece for months now. This just feels so right. I do believe that he will take us further than we ever thought possible!! What awesome news this is. I think I have something in my eye.

he's smart... this also takes a lot of pressure off of him which is also OK. If we are only going to go as far as Julius can take us its not ideal, but this is more like we can go get another one or two like him. This is how you build a death squad. We need like 7-8 guys who can play like that. Right now Julius is a horse and Rose and Kemba both showed they can play like that for good stretches if not 80 games. Hopefully RJ takes another step and he's right there. IQ/Obi/Mitch need work but the potential is there
things are really looking good for the franchise. Would nice to have a couple superstars in the pocket but we have a really good squad, we have youth, we have a COY and we have 4 FRPs in the next 2 drafts to keep building the pipeline or adding depth

30MPG and 70+ games played with his usual production will have him asking for Allen money...No?
My gut feeling is that the Knicks will want to give him a 15M/year contract of some sort, and if he wants much more, they might move him.
Do we know for sure Thibs likes him (Any rumors that he doesn't?), or do you just hear the usual platitudes which a coach has to say about their own players?
Julius Randle is a real NBA leader.
Just agreed to sign long-term for only $117 million when he could've went for $200M?!?!? The man just saved us damn near $100M!
We're finally building a CULTURE here in NYC and MSG under both Tom Thibs and Julius Randle. This is awesome and it won't be long before Zion Williamson is begging to become a NY Knick alongside his brother RJ Barrett.

Locking up Noel took all of Mitch’s leverage away. I love Mitch and we haven’t extended a knicks draft pick since the bush administration (the first one) but he’s trade bait for next February
Really annoyed me how quickly some fans turned on him during the playoffs
