Rotation is set with: Walker, Barrett, Fournier, Randle and Mitch starting, and Rose, Quickley, Burks, Toppin, and Noel as the next 5.
Taj is still there, and McBride, Grimes and Sims (2-way contract most likely for Sims) are the development pieces. I think Vildoza is up in the air at this point as well. Pinson probably comes back on the other 2-way deal.
Knox is really odd man out here and i don't see a path in the current rotation for any opening now or in the future. In his place, Knicks should really focus on finding a defensive wing role player that can be used in emergency situations with Bullock and Ntilikina gone. Justise Winslow, Stanley Johnson, Avery Bradley, Hollis-Jefferson, Bates-Diop, and bringing back Ntilikina stand out as the best options on the market for that role.
Moving Knox for a future 2nd round pick or in a trade for a defensive wing really seems like the only option at this point. If there's one criticism to this offseason it's that we let go of all defensive role players, but obviously there's still plenty of time to address that.
I would wait to see what he brings this season. If he is playing with the proper energy and doesn’t have defensive lapses he can be an X factor to the offense. If that fails then yeah, throw him in a trade deal.
To his credit he is playing in the summer league.

But how is he playing? There's no avenue to real playing time besides maybe a brief cameo here and there. He's probably 13th or 14th in the roster pecking order when you factor in Grimes and McBride being development priorities and favorites of Thibs.
I don't see the benefit to moving him just yet. Does he have any value around the league? Whatever we could recoup in a trade I would think it's negligible.
I'd be on the side of keeping him for an audition. Either see what he can give us or see if we can at least boost his value a bit before the deadline.

If he is stroking the 3 there is an avenue.

While I admit you are most likely correct because his situation resembles Frank N, I can't be so certain because the Knicks could have turned down his option. They chose to bring him back. I don't see Thibs prioritizing Grimes over Knox unless he earns it. I think last year proved that you have to earn your minutes. But, he certainly didn't improve his roster position with the Knick's offseason.
His minutes would appear to be more likely at PF than SF, imo.
The Knock on Knox is his low motor. Thibs (and all of NYC) like guys who play with fire. Knox plays like he is smelling roses out there, does not seem to care.
Knox is an expiring contract. If we dont move him by the deadline I am guessing they let him walk for a chance to get minutes somewhere. He's making $6mm so a team that takes him is gonna have to send us something back. I dont see that

I agree, but the only way he Gets PT is if someone gets injured, and still Thibs normally reduces the rotation as opposed to expanded it.

Still a few teams like Charlotte, San Antonio, and OKC with cap space and flexibility that may take a flier for a 2nd round pick. I've always felt OKC was a logical spot for him.
He's not playing in SL due health and safety protocols. Doesn't help his trade value.

I wouldn’t give anything up for Knox… I would just wait for him to be cut or for his contact to expire if I was interested in adding Knox to my roster

Turner makes sense for this squad but the front office probably has a bigger target in mind.

The benefit of moving him ASAP is so we don't lose him for absolutely nothingness (as we did with Frank Ntilikina).
There is no room on this roster for him because he's now the 13th man behind Kemba Walker, R.J. He won't even be able to avenge 2-4 minutes per game.
Last year throughout 5 playoff games vs. Atlanta and with a much weaker roster Tom Thibs refused to play him. Because Thibs doesn't like him. Thibs only played Kevin Knox a combined 3 minutes throughout the entire Atlanta series and those 3:30 minutes of playing time came during a 17 point blowout.
If you can move Kevin Knox? Right now? For a 2nd round pick? You pull the trigger immediately and celebrate while doing so.
If we can maneuver a sign & trade involving Knox for Oubre Jr then we should do it.
He adds no value to this Knicks roster. And that means he has next to no value league-wide.
If you get a late 2nd round pick for him you have yourself a steal. Expect no return on investment.
My prediction: Knox is either glued to bench or sent to d-league.

This is the issue - he's too expensive to take a chance on. So at this point in the offseason when teams are trying to allocate cap, you either can get a worse contract back for him, or you need to use a pick to entice someone to take him on. Neither make more sense for us then just letting him play out the season. We might as well see how he looks in summer league and training camp. I don't think he's a simple player to move. When it comes to the trade deadline/later in the year it will be a bit of a different story as teams begin to prepare for the next offseason.
it's not time to move him, but we have to figure out if we can turn him into a player or not.
It's 21, had decent production his first year.
He is certainly buried on the depth chat, but he has a smooth stroke.
If he could become a 6'9" version of Hubert Davis, he'd have a decent future.
There is no guarantee the guys in front of him won't get hurt.
