New Mavericks coach Jason Kidd says he used ultra-rare 15-man rotation at request of team's leadership council

The leadership council consists of Luka Doncic, Kristaps Porzingis and Tim Hardaway Jr.

…”All 15 guys played. If we could have played the two-way [players], we would have played them too," Kidd told reporters after the game. "This came to me this morning through the council that we have. Those players that I talked to thought this was a great idea. So, I was with it.

"We always talk about 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 as part of the team and they tend not to get to play, but they come to work everyday like the starters or the rotation guys," Kidd added. "I think this shows what kind of character, what kind of guys we have in that locker room, which is really, really cool."

Is this a roundtable? If so, I hope they have comfy ergonomic chairs so KP does not get a nother injury while sitting down at one of these minutes.

Sounds like he stole the idea from the last ep of Game of Thrones

This is awesome.

That shit had become unwatchable, and a disgrace.

I wonder what the tipping point was. Must have been hurting the NBA in the pocket.

I’m so happy to see this- I found watching Harden unbearable. It’s not just that he got awarded with FT’s by cheating, it’s that the players soon learned they weren’t allowed to defend him, which made him look even better than he was. It’s been such a drag on the game, can’t believe it was allowed to continue for so many years. Why did non-Harden, CP3, etc teams put up with it?

Going to be very interesting to see what this does to the beard's stat line this season. A fat goober who throws his arms up in the air, throws the ball away, doesn't get to the FT line 20 times a game and can't/won't guard anyone.

Thank you God the Nets are paying that bill.

I'm taking my usual approach to stuff like this. Sports teaches us Harden's history is likely a better indictor of what happens in the long run than the premise he fell off a cliff.

Not saying it can't happen. But talk to me on Thanksgiving.

After 4-5 games this year Knicks fans were hoping the Knicks would have two lottery picks because Doncic looked out of shape and constantly complained to the refs... etc.

A good player or two (or three) gets written off EVERY season after week 1. There's right now a ton of fans waiting for Curry to have to bad month so they can say I told you so.

KP out with the back tonight but Frankie played 14 minutes with 6 points and a plus 24 in a Mavs win!

So happy how basketball is becoming basketball again.

because James Harden and Trae Young flopping like a fish on 3 PT shots and drives was absolutely RUINING NBA Basketball.

That initiating contract crap (in order to get to the FT line) never happened in the 90s and was destroying the game I once loved.

The NBA not giving these Floppers like James Harden those BS FLOP CALLS ANYMORE is making basketball FUN AGAIN!

Didn't say he was going to fall off a cliff, but can you let me know what his great qualities are if you take away the forced FT and ticky tack fouls he made a career of drawing? Plus, he's never been the greatest 3 pt threat in the world, either.

Like I said, I want to see his stat line at the end of a season like this. I'm going to be more interested to see if the league and the refs don't fold at some point and things go back to the floppy way they were. Especially if someone like LeQ starts getting documented nightly for attempted foul flopping.

VDesai @ 10/29/2021 10:45 AM
When you look at the all time leading scorers in NBA history, you can see that James Harden sits unique as the player with the closest to a 1 to 1 ratio of field goals made to free throws made. IN fact, he is the only player that has more FTs made than FGs made.

https://www.nba.com/stats/alltime-leaders/

He is legitimately the most foul dependent scorer in NBA history. His sheer volume of free throws have made him one of the best / most efficient scorers historically. But now they've taken away one of the main ways he gets those FT attempts.

When you take away the fouls, his 44% FG percentage 36% from 3 are not very efficient.

He will adapt at some point - but will he be as good if he can't get to the line at least 75% as much as he used to?

Shed a tear for Trae Young...

...Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young said the league's rule change on fouls is "frustrating" after a 122-111 loss to the Washington Wizards.

"There's a lot of missed calls," he told reporters. "It's basketball. It's just, it feels that they're learning, and they're just—I don't know. It's frustrating."...

....Young noted there's a difference between what the league is trying to do with what has been implemented to start the season:

"Veering back and jumping into guys—that's different. There are certain things that, I agree with the rule changes, but then there's things that are still fouls, and guys are going to get hurt. Especially a smaller guy like me who's going up against bigger and stronger defenders, they're using their body and they're using their legs and their hands to stop me."

Patrick Williams out for rest of the season after that fall yesterday.

Still think Mitch's foul was a basketball play, nothing malicious. Sucks for him though. Recovery time seem a little excessive though?

Oh the humanity! If you don't want anyone to touch you Trae, try playing tennis. Or ping pong.
Or maybe grow some moves that don't allow anyone to touch you.

Somewhere, Iverson is puking up lunch reading crap like that.

In tonight's Douchebag Report, Nets win, Porzingis misses another game with lower back injury, and Joakim Noah compares Derrick Rose's ACL injury in 2012 to the 9/11 attacks. Nothing new on Simmons.

Worse, after all the enthusiasm from everyone about no longer calling BS fouls, and there being fewer FTs, the nba s*** the bed after all the crying from Trae Young and Harden, and awarded Harden 19 FTs

Who honestly wants to watch a cry baby shoot 19 FTs a game apart from Harden himself? It's pathetic and in no ones interest (apart from Harden's)

My take is they had dinner, then flew to Nola, late afternoon practice, discourage hitting bourbon st on a friday night as some Voodoo women will snatch your soul or sperm and snatch paternity payments!
So they bring Leon and his amex card, but bus leaves for airport after dinner? Still cool.

Mitch is a Louisiana so this is his a bit of a homecoming. I'd like to see Norlens get on the court soon. Thibs not keen on Simms yet.

Yet another example of why waiting is almost always best.

There are MANY chapters left in the 2021-2022 James Harden story, and I'm not predicting the plot.

Knicks dominated the same Philadelphia team who just DESTROYED the now 3-3 ATL Hawks by 28 points!

Kemba Walker + Evan Fournier + Mitchell Robinson + NBA rules no longer letting Trae Young flop his way to the FT LINE = ATL HAWKS have NO CHANCE vs. NY this year.

I loved seeing Boston lose in double overtime tonight too. Boston letting go of both Kemba Walker and Evan Fournier (and to NY) is going to HAUNT THEM. Boston is 2-4 and trending downwards.

Every team seems to be up and down at the moment, I really have no idea which teams will turn out to be the good ones or not! Still, glad we've been winning while we have our fluctuations
