Im not a Bones Hyland follower but yes, he cooked us, but how has the rest of his season gone and why we use him as example?
I don’t know if he been working on parts of his game.

IQ has some skills, but if he wants to stay in the league there are some things he needs to do besides shoot bombs and hit floaters.

Gonna bold the section about Quick. Since maybe you misunderstood my post.

Nalod wrote:Maybe we are but only one way to find out. Give them consistent good minutes and let them work through their issues without fear of being pulled for one mistake. In Quicks situation stop playing him out of position. Playing Burks out of position already ruined his value.

The only section talking about quick was saying stop playing him out of position. Which is why I singled him out and not the other young players.

...This was hilarious!!! Chuck even got stoic KD to crack a smile. the TNT pre and post game show is some of the funniest stuff on TV.

Are they completely playing IQ out of position or are they letting him get minutes while developing and making mistakes and such?

And with Rose out, is there much more you can do? And when both Rose and Kemba sit?

It's a big grey area. I think everyone can see his long term role may be 6th man ala Lou Williams but does it hurt to get him some PG/ball initiating minutes to add those types of skills to his game?

All very good questions.

Yes they are playing him out of position. This is my opinion and it has been this way since last season and summer league. Quick improved his PG skill in summer league but he improved it to a point where it will help as a secondary ball handler. being a real good PG is more than just playing a position.

You can be a pass first PG which quick is not. He does not have the PG vision to pass people open or see plays develop before it actually happens. You can be the PG that won't do much ball handling but is a sharp shooter. Quick is not that because once he plays PG he forgets how to shoot. You can also be a slasher PG. Despite his nickname being Quick can not breakdown a defense to save his life so that is out of the question. Quick does some good things like always looking to pass the ball up to help with our transition points. However, it takes much more than that to be a good PG in the NBA.

You are doing him a disservice playing him out of position. I can live with it in summer league. In real NBA games he should be learning how to play in the NBA in his correct position. He is not some finished project that is now learning new skills to augment his already polished game. He still has a ton of work to do on his main toolkit.

With Rose out how about give McBride a chance. I don't mean a Thibs only if there are injuries chance and the first mistake pull him out chance. Give him real minutes and enough time to figure things out. If both Rose and Kemba is out then it is fine to give Quick extended PG time because its a last resort and every other PG but McBride is injured.

We seem to have this conversation a lot. I remember we had it with Grimes. It seems to have worked out pretty well with him. So instead of rehashing the same debates lets just see if it can work with McBride as well. Listen to Grimes say what helped him.

Twitter is down right now but the quote is:
"Even when I make a mistake, he has a lot of trust in me to leave me in…figure it out….that's also a confidence booster, when he leaves you in the game after you make a mistake….every time I step on the court, I get more & more confident”

How about we give McBride those same opportunities.

I wrote the second part?

Second unit is still strong despite Rose being out. Give Quickly some credit. His shot selection is so much better this season. He's a PG.
ToddTT @ 2/12/2022 6:24 PM

Playing out of his mind.

Clean @ 2/13/2022 2:11 PM

Our pg problems are solved.
MaTT4281 @ 2/14/2022 7:15 AM

Not familiar with either account, but getting a few of these in my time line.

Feel bad for Kemba, but this seems like the best outcome for everyone.

I wonder if Burks or RA or Deuce will be the starter. I bet that’s the order Thibs is considering.

I wonder if he sees playing time. I’m guessing he’s just insurance in case Burks or IQ get injured.

What do you guys think of signing Tyus Jones if Brunson falls through. Passes the eye test analytically and is definitely a PG. Solid defensively and he's been somewhat respectable on D despite average explosiveness. Not much of scorer, but think the team needs a manager more than a scorer from the PG position. Also, he'll be relatively cheap

If Brunson option is off the table I think he would be an excellent fall back option! Plays with his head up, looking for teammates at all times, good form on the 3, playing for a winning team and had good college career, inexpensive... solid!

Also - think he played with RJ and Cam at Duke right?

That was his little bro, but he would continue to the Duke pipeline that eventually leads to Zion

Feel bad for Kemba as well. Clearly, he's not the same player he once was due the issues with his knees, but at the same time, we haven't done him any favors. Kemba excels in a pick-n-roll offence and he's reduced to being a spectator to Randle-Ball. If Kemba gets cut, I fully expect Burks to be moved back into the starting lineup with Rose as the back-up. Maybe we will se Deuce if and when we are mathematically eliminated which may not come until the last week or 2 of the season

Clean @ 2/15/2022 12:55 PM

This sounds like a subliminal aimed at Kyrie.
ToddTT @ 2/15/2022 10:53 PM

Later…

Next Harden will be teaching him how to flop like a bitch, and hamstring care.

Absolutely I think it’s a good backup plan which will suddenly become plan A
