He looks like a solid player. Perfect trade bait or back PG battle between him and deuce.

He's only 20 years of age and with Kemba Walker being 31 years old and Derrick Rose being 33 years old; Rokas Jokubaitis could develop into our next starting PG.

He's beginning to look really promising.

He could just as easily be our next Frankie too. Was nothing learned about drooling over yoots with FIBA highlights?

His Euro highlights, outside of defense, against older men look far more impressive than Franks. Also, this is a much higher level of Euro ball than what Frank played at.

But wait. Frank is the best defender on Dallas. Holds booker to 16%. Being compared to Frank is not an insult but a compliment. I’ve said this numerous times. Franks only issue is he was picked very high by the media capital of the world. So it’s hard to meet expectations on this scenario especially when the FO and coaching staff was influx during franks time.

Rokas has a future in the nba and he’s a great player to have off the bench or a great player to trade in the right deal.

Just my opinion but I think deuce or Franks defense wouldve Made rokas look average in practice. Slept on franks defense and now some are sleeping on deuce defense. Rokas is just a better offensive PG than those 2 but his defense is probably worst than those 2.

Like I said, the only thing Frank had over Rokas as a prospect coming out of Europe is defense. Frank's stock starting to rise after locking up some of the best players in his league in the playoffs. But Rokas is playing at an overall higher level in the second best league in the world. Frank's coach in Belgium mostly had Frank playing off-ball. Rokas is leading the offense for large periods of time in a much tougher league.

On offense I think Rokas will be Doncic-lite. Same type of body and shiftiness and craftiness. He is going to be GOOD

I don't think this is brought up enough: for the year the dude is shooting a ridiculous 59% from 3point land and 55% from 2. FIBA has same dimensions as college so there will be an adjustment. But the Euroleague is a step up from NCAA and if a PG was shooting those stats he was be talked about a LOT in this upcoming draft.

Rokas is already 21 but I think he has a ton of untapped potential. His playing time is still off bench and limited to about 15+ minutes which is norm for every young player not named Doncic.

Knicks have got themselves a prime prospect who will be a starter in the NBA.

Outside of us signing a new stud PG, for what reasons would Rokas not be on our roster next season?

Is it because we have too many bodies?

It's literally that very reason.

I'd guess that Rokas is 21 and enjoying life in Barcelona, got a coach who he has played for a long time who is considered one of the better ones and a former PG himself, so he is learning a lot.

Certainly anything can happen between now and summer I think it's a win-win situation for both the Knicks and Rokas. Roster too crowded? Rokas stays and plays even more for his current team and gets better and his leverage goes up for his next contract - IMHO he is that good and maybe next year he starts or gets more playing time.

Barca can also lay out a path to pay him and play him if he commits. They don’t like developing yoot too much to see them leave. As long as he has options he’ll be kind of stuck. yes, they will play him but not give him the keys.
yes we have many bodies, and yes we need dto give hm a 3 year deal with two guaranteed for 7-8mil per. Just a guess.

What does that mean? Rokus signed a 4 year deal last year with Barcelona, his first year was a reported ~250K Euro. NBA buyout some place in the $750K range.

Can they rip it up and pay him more?

Thoughts from the other side of the pond on whether or not Jokubaitis should come over next year, from end of March

JesseDark @ 5/16/2022 9:45 AM
Why do I have that sinking feeling that the Knicks are going to include him in a trade for an overpriced piece.

Becuase we tend to grade before games are played. Rokas is being hyped up and you don’t know you get a good trade until after the games are played.
He is not a certainty. He is not Luka. That kid was 17 when he got that title.

Rokas gonna have some nice teammates to work with next year

The idea of throwing botched alleyoops to Vesely might be enough to make the Rok come over this year.

where do folks think his future is now? trade? shows up in 2023/4?

what is their depth chart look like? He playing pg? the 2? These guys don't pace themselves at PG an they run them in and out subbing more than NBA.
he is not here for SL which I suppose is telling. Our depth chart does not look like there is room as well.
Trade? That is always possible and maybe he has a promise for money and to compete for playing time.
