I saw a snippet on a Jonathan macri article that there is a perception that Jokubaitis would be a late lotto pick if he entered this draft. Anyone know where that conversation is coming from ?

Their speculation?

Big time! There are former NBAers who don't have that kind of impact on that stage.

Bring Rokas over next summer and use it as a learning year. Sign/trade for Brunson. Eventually Rokas can ease in for Rose as his career is closing and a combination of Brunson and Rokas can finally fix this chronic PG situation the Knicks have had for 20 years.

One NBA trainer's take

martin @ 2/22/2022 2:58 PM
For comparison, Doncic's stats in Euroleague. During the 2017-18 season Luka was 18.

Rokas just turned 21:

Very interesting. So he’s essentially projecting a long term starting PG and suggesting Knicks will have potentially 2 lottery caliber rookies next season.

I don't know how to project either of their starting PG abilities but Knicks got 2 solid picks with potential.

Knicks have no issue drafting quality role players. They need to draft a true difference maker.

Still think Deuce is the better prospect.

Indeed. The issue seems to be that the vets we have are even lower quality but yet they get more playing time.

Difference makers are typically that first or second tier of draftees. Last 2 that the Knicks have had they drafted KP and RJ.

It's the same for most teams.

Even Nick knows the Rok is coming for that job.

So next year the PG depth will be Rose, IQ, Deuce. That'll probably come into play

PG, combo, playmaker, don't matter. Its about chemistry.
Players mouth moves they say mostly the right thing. I'd hope Rokas comes to summer league and if can demonstrate proficiency he could get some promise?

Lets be real. If he was drafted high in the fist round he'd get paid far more than he is in euroleague. With that money he gets a 3-4 year window to earn his stripes.
This kid is doing real well but until he commits long term he won't get those euro-Vet minutes. They play young guys with NBA paths in short bursts. Its also the nature of the PG position. They go all out in short bursts.
Thus, if he is legit NBA prospect and would be a higher pick he will want that money and security that comes with commitment. Publically he'll say the right things and im guessing hinting. His agent will work this.
The knicks coaches and scouts need to make that determination. If he has leverage he'll use it.

Remember Vildoza? Update: https://basketnews.com/news-164366-luca-... He had surgery and could be ready to play soon but he is not on any team.
We paid him nearly 4mil LAST SEASON to come here with the last 3 years non guaranteed. We cut him when he got hurt and needed surgery. I bring him up to see what we did. After his season ended last year we gave him 25% of that deal to come to summer league. He looked bad at summer league and in the olympics. He was playing hurt most likely.

Back to Roka: Knicks going to have to pay him or give him a minutes guarantee if they want to bring him over. I doubt he gets minutes thing so money it is.
I know some want the Charlotte pick back becuase there is always lust for college players. But we can't really bring THREE MORE yoots? Rokas and two more picks? We are choking with yoot.
Very different from years past.

TPercy @ 3/9/2022 2:24 PM
He prolly gotta stay one more year aboard tbh
fishmike @ 3/9/2022 2:55 PM
he'll come when he gets an NBA check. There's no reason to come and try and make the team. When they offer him 3 years $12mm he will be "ready"

Can't blame him, and I'm sure that's what the Knicks and Barca kind of envisioned behind closed doors. No one expected him to play at the level he's playing now and it changes some things, but I'm pretty sure the plan was for him to stay at least two years.
