Knicks · Keep Burks in unit 1 (update 11/29: Thibs made it so) (page 4)

Nalod @ 12/5/2021 11:36 AM
Hmmm, maybe Burks is not the answer. kemba was not the answer.
So I guess since Deuce is tearing up the Gleague, he must be the answer?
Can’t be worse right? Well, yeah it can be.

Randle looks like he just got out of bed yesterday. Is that the cause or the symptom? Deep right?
RJ not right the last two weeks. When one don’t know the reason, its time to start Grimes?
Is that the answer?
what was the question? How to quell fans frustration or we see if we can “Help” thibs and the knicks?

Sometimes there are no apparent answers. Kick the can down the road until a solution is not just devised but proven.

Or we can trade multiple first round picks and RJ and IQ to the Suns for Elf. His defense on the bench looks incredible this season

Don't be ridiculous, we would need to have Frank included in a three team trade to make that make sense.

The lineup going forward should be:
Burks sf
Randle pf
Noel c
RJ sg
Rose pg

Bench:
Quickly
Fournier
Mitch
Taj
Obi
Kemba
Simms

You are just flinging stuff against the wall and hoping it sticks.

You can't put Noel into the starting line up. He has missed half his total games and 2 out of the last 4. He is hurt and his inconsistency would hurt the lineup and rotation. Mitch hasn't been stellar but you don't make a switch just because.

And if you want to address how you are hurting the second until while also burning out Rose as a starer, please do so.

Otherwise what you suggest doesn't really make sense from a practical standpoint.

I presented a good quality line up. With good back up team to go with the starters. Rose can start and he can give way to Quickly. Rose doesn’t have to play a ton of minutes. As far as Mitch and Noel. Noel plays better defense. Mitch is out of shape he went Zion mode with his foot problem and gained weight. If it is muscle he can’t handle that as he hasn’t been to good defensively. I understand Noel is hurt but once healthy he should start. Mitch is a couple of steps slow he needs to reduce weight.

Philc1 @ 12/7/2021 4:31 PM
Rose cannot play 30+ minutes a night anymore

Said last night he down 20lbs since start of season. Maybe he finishes strong. We’ll see. Be great to play 65+ games this season.

Don't be ridiculous, we would need to have Frank included in a three team trade to make that make sense.

And now we need to trade all of them so we can watch Zion on the Cooking Channel and co-hosting the NYC episodes of Diners, Dives and Drive-Ins with Guy Fieri!

Would be much less stressful than trying to devise the latest lineup changes and help Thibs coach every 15 minutes!

So now we're 1-5 or something with Burks at PG,
Noel is hurt again
Rose is barely efficient at 16 min a game off the bench
And Randle is sleepwalking.

My turn to throw crap against the wall:
Taj (he manages to stay on the court)
Randle
RJ
Fournier (78 million, sink or fucking swim)
Quickley (It is time - Rafiki from Lion King)

Rose (orchestrate old man, orchestrate)
Kemba (shoot your way into our hearts again, Kemba)
Obi
Mitch
Grimes
Simms (see if we can get away with playing six on five)

Where's Burks?

I'm sure he's not going to remove him from the rotation.

I think it comes down to EF or RJ as the next player to get demoted.

IQ should be the starter, but only if Rose is ok with that.

Rose is the only legit PG on the roster that should start, but he's on record saying how much he enjoys the 2nd unit and the low expectations it comes with. There's no pressure on him to perform like a starter.

The smart move should be to wait and see what happens at the trade deadline, before making any more internal moves. You never know how a trade might shake up things.

Burk is not a pg. Thibs needs to realize that. Fournier is an anwful pick up. Didn’t understand the move. A guy who needs shots not a good defender and basically takes away from RJ development. Development killing moves this off season. Instead of enhancing the team they weakened the team. Would have been good to add Ball or Rubio to the team moves like that promote ball movement and get your top players involved.

How about Quickley for Fourmier? Noel is a necessity in starting line up as well.

I’m fine with Quickly starting. But still think Rose should start and play limited minutes. Give way to Quickly for majority of the minutes. The thing with Quickly is there isn’t a shot he doesn’t like and some time he gets shot happy. But when they are falling they fall. So I would be okay with Quickly starting.

Starter- Robinson, Randle, RJ, EF, Rose.
Subs- Kemba, Quickley, Burks, Obi, Taj. (Championship squad)

IMO it's all about the rotations, being able to adjust on the fly, and finding the right balance..

This has not worked
I think we needed to try it as we were having defensive issues in unit 1 but for the most part Tgis is not working

In the last 6 games (5 losses), Burks has shot just 33% from three and 39% from the field. He has played the most amount of minutes of ANY Knick. It may not be all on Burkes but
the change has not worked nor made him better. Still keep reiterating that Burks is best suited as a sixth man and in spurts. Play him and if he has it going, let him stay in. The move in general has not translated to wins. Good coaches will admit when something did not work. We shall see if Thibs realizes this. Not sure that Kemba was the answer but it is clear taking him completely out of the lineup was not as well.

I see us as having many/several role players. Randle is a tough go-to one on one guy that can be a beast down low. RJ is a solid all-around player that is still learning. EF is a good shooter that can be an excellent spread-the-floor guy and a third option for many teams. Mitch/Obi are good energy/PnR guys. IQ and Burks are good 6th man types. Rose is a solid backup player. We probably lost a couple of GLUE guys. Which is hurting us. Wanted Caruso for that reason. We just do not have a high tier PG to get the best out of all our ROLE players. However, do not think it matters. We do not have a superstar. Whereas ALL the teams that will compete for a chip do.
