I really hope we trade him as soon as we start getting guys back from Covid. It feels so wrong to burry him on the bench like this. I'm not expecting much in return either. Not much you're going to get for a $8M/2 year contract. Maybe to Denver for someone like JaMychal Green or the type of deal. Or send him to Dallas for Bulloch!

He can be an accent piece for a team that needs him as a back up that likely contends. We had hoped he'd move the dial for us and he has not.
That we are benching him in favor of McBride demonstrates this team wants to develop yoot. out of respect and maintain reputation as a destination we have to treat him with respect. Im thinking he got a 20 game audition and hope Thibs was upfront about it. Was Kemba suprised? Maybe he was but his play was not there. I hope we move him as he is a good dude. We tried.
Im not expecting much if anything in return. Good teams have little cap space. He could be attached to a 3 way deal of some sort.

There's a reddit thread started by someone who was at last night's game who said they saw Kemba dragging his leg to the bench. Makes sense with recent reports that teams aren't interested in Kemba due to knee concerns. It may not be that Thibs is refusing to play Kemba. It might be that he can't.

He’d be listed on an injury report if he was seriously hurt. He does arthritis issues but no one is saying he should play 35 minutes a night but he should-y’know- play

This thread should be changed to “when will Kemba not start?”

What happens when everybody returns, specially RJ. Will be interesting how thibs handles this situation.

Rose’s ankle surgery solved everything

I know he played well last season but a 3 year extension for him was almost Isiah reckless

Don’t see the comparisons to isiah Thomas but Gibson and Rose will be here as long as thibs is the coach. Just like corporate america, managers that move up will bring people they trust with them.

Rose 3 yr contract is fine with me. Rose impact on this team from the sidelines and practice can’t be measured. Same with Gibson, who has found a new role as a PF.

But RJ is back now. What’s the starting unit?

Seems like a good time to bring RJ off the bench, move Mitch to the starting unit. Everybody else remains. Mitch, Randle, Burks, EF and Kemba

RJ should come off the bench because he’s been out for so long and has been struggling. Even though lately he’s turned it around the last 3 games. Thibs should ease him back and see if this starting unit led by Kemba can build some winning momentum.

yeah Rose is really good value for what he brings, and everyone knows he's giving you 50-60 games a year. He's been great with the young guys and plays ego free team driven ball. He's been great. Its a pretty young squad and having a guy like Rose is good

Burks hasn’t been good enough to demote RJ from being the starting SG

I know Rose was good last year and Thibs loves the guy but has he been anything other than what the Kemba-haters have been calling Kemba? Rose literally has 2 moves on offense, has never been a great 3 point shooter and on defense most of the posters on this messageboard board could drive past him

Kemba was fun last night.
Wiz back court had their way with him also. This is why we lost.

I couldn’t watch the game, but I was following the game cast or play by play. And every time someone scored, it was a guard. Then Kemba followed with a 3. I’ve seen this too many times where I don’t need to see it live. That’s Kemba game. His best defense is his offense.

Unfortunately I see Randle and EF the same way. It’s like their goal is to outscore there opponent. Someone said Wally Z explain how u need offense to win. Of course he will say that. He was a sharp shooting EF. His offense was his defense.

Kemba almost scored 50. So we had plenty of offense and still lost. Defense is the only thing thats consistent. Offense is up and down just like the Knicks season. Coincidence?

U build a team of players that rely on offense, especially your main players. And you will have an up and down season, unless we have top 5 nba talent, which we don’t. The good news is grimes and McBride will lead a new generation of 2 way players which should help turn this franchise around. We have all the right pieces, just the wrong star player(s), in particular Randle. U don’t build around him. U simply add him to a ready made championship team.

Burks was mostly on Dinwiddie. He also had a tough time stopping him.
Holiday made 6 baskets.
Our defensive rotations were not good.
But yes, Kemba's stature/defense is no secret in his NBA/college career.
Is there a PG in the NBA that has scored over 40 and can defend?
Definably not on the Knicks.
People have praised Rose(well deserved) yet not exactly a defensive star.
If a team can't find a way to use a guy that has Kemba's shooting ability, something is wrong.
Kemba is not the answer to our losing. But he is not the reason.

Well said. I have in the past said “he is not problem, but not the solution either.
Facts are NBA teams are like high performance machines. You can add quality parts but they have to fit together. We fans things “If you play this guys vs this guy, and the stats back it up……you should get a better result.
That Thibs came in year one and did what he did perhaps can be better appreciated in hindsight as this team this year is not (Yet) to that level.
Drose key stat is not on the basic eye ball test. The guy was clutch at games end. Payton looked awful at the end of the season but he contributed well for most of it. Reggie and others really shot well most of last season.
The fine tuning of this roster eludes Thibs thus far. EF is not a good defender, making a better % of shots and off the ball moving sharp and early in his cuts. Does that happen all game? Every game even when he is not hitting? When the ball moves is he on the court? Not a stat thing we can see. Knick coaches can.
EF is getting cup treatments on the shoulder. Last night they were very fresh marks as have been last few weeks.
Kemba in crunch time gets blocked often going to the basket. When his heat leaves he is not the same player.
Off the bench Mitch looks good the last two weeks. Even with the starting unit down the stretch. Offensively he is getting more and he dominates against smaller lineups. He is progressing very nice. Hope he can stay healthy!
Randle? Not sure whats up but the chemistry from last year is not the same and its likely small things. They add up though. RJ is inconsistant but the what is often missed by haters is his trends higher in that range of “inconsistent” and if you growing as a player thats to be expected. You worry when he plateaus and is still inconsistent.
IQ as a star in the making? Im super happy his shot is falling and he is contributing but is it off the ball or as primary scorer? Or does it really matter anymore? He is becoming a good player with a puzzling ceiling. Thats not a bad thing.

Fans over reacting: Not everything fits in a box or a future known. Some of you put things in a box and leave it there. LIke “Mitch sucks, is out of shape….” Thats silly. He is progressing and turning it up. To what end? I don’t know. sure as shit nobody does either but some of you pretend you do.

Wiz are a deep team with a better record than us. They likely will phase away from Beal and perhaps have other trade assets going forward. ATL may have too many pieces as currently constructed. Dinwiddie looked great. Im sure if EF was there and Dinwiddie here we’d be saying, damn, wish he got him………..

Lol trying to blame the only guy on our roster who could hit a shot last night for the loss. How many 44 point games does Elf have this year?
