OBI time

This is honestly something I've been anticipating. It was bound to happen and now we can see what we have without Randle. Kemba can finally own the offense. Fournier can cook. The black hole is gone.
ToddTT @ 12/30/2021 1:25 PM
They’re all getting it. Who’s left? I think EF, Kemba, and Burks?

Don't want to be too harsh, but you're right. Randle doesn't look right and the team seems to be suffering because of it. I wonder if it means RJ will see some time at "PF" as well. No Randle means less double teams, but I'm hopeful it will lead to crisper ball movement.

Philc1 @ 12/30/2021 1:29 PM
Oh no what are we going to do without Carmeloball for a couple games

Doubt RJ moves to the 4. He’s only 6’6. Most likely we see full time Obi and more of Taj and Sims

The hatred for Julius Randle is disgusting.

Led us to the playoffs for the 1st time since 2012-2013.

NBAs most improved player.

NBA All-Star.

But yet some of you guys are "celebrating" his covid protocol and quitting on him only 35 games into the season?

Some of you Julius Randle critucs are too clueless to comprehend NY was 17-18 after 35 games last year and also only 25-27 after 52 games last year.

(thnx God coach Thibs didn't quit on Julius Randle like you guys do).

Thankfully the only games we'll be without Randle are against 3 crap teams OKC/Toronto/Indiana/.

So even if we go 3-0 without Randle it means absolutely nothingness in regards to "proving NY doesn't need him".

fitzfarm @ 12/30/2021 1:47 PM
I’ll be pissed if thibs starts Gibson over obi. Hopefully that won’t happen. If obi breaks out with big minutes and the team starts to roll. Thibs and upper management is gonna have some big decisions to make.

I could envision a Randle trade at the deadline if the above happens.

I wish Randle a safe recovery maybe the time away will light a fire under him.

ToddTT @ 12/30/2021 1:47 PM
Oh crap. Taj hasn’t had covid yet. Hope he’s an exception.

Who's better on this team than Randle, and it's not even close.

He leads the teams in Points, Rebounds Assist, double doubles.

But we'll see what OBI does with the extra min, his perimeter game is super suspect

Not only does Julius Randle lead his team in points, rebounds and assists.

but he's also has NYs #1 Defensive Win Share Rating.

He's also 2nd and 3rd on the team in blocks/steals.

Phil crapping on Julius Randle means absolutely nothingness. Why? Because Phil also likes Lin more than Ewing and crapped on Ewing still 20 years later. Grain of salt.

OK, now we will know for sure just how much of a problem Randle is or is not. Hopefully Thibs rotations keep Obi with guards that will hit him on his cuts to the hoop. I am also interested to see if the Knicks starters will now run the same offense the bench does. This is exciting times. We will learn a lot about Thibs and this team during this period.

Im with you... the hate is bullshit and dismaying to see from our "knowledgeable" fans. But yes... Randle is off and its hurt the team. It usually does when your best player struggles and for now he's our best player. Some time away could surely help and walking into a winning streak or a team playing really well without him could also really help.

In many ways Julius struggling is a good problem to have.

Is he declining physically?
Does he have a work ethic issue?
Is he coachable?
Will the coach hold him accountable?
Is winning his priority?

I feel pretty good about these questions and the potential for Randle to have a much better 2nd half. If/when he does it will be a huge and positive impact for this team

No we won't.

Knicks next 3 games are against 3 teams who are below .500 teams (OKC/INDY/Toronto).

So even if NY goes 3-0 without Randle it'll mean absolutely nothingness in terms of fans trying to "crap all over Julius Randle".

Sambakick @ 12/30/2021 2:13 PM
Randle has been having a bad year. This is not up for debate.
Sambakick @ 12/30/2021 2:14 PM
Pointing it out doesn't equate to crapping on Randle.

huh? did you forget we were just about to be blown out by the G league Pistons if it were not for the bench? There are no easy wins for this team. There is plenty we can find out about this team. If the starters don't have minus stats of almost 30 that will be an improvement. Looking to see what type of offense the starters play will be interesting. Does the pace of the starters increase? How does the starters defense without Randle look? Is the ball moving more freely without Randle. How does RJ look without Randle? Will RJ still be mostly a spot up shooter without Randle? There is so many thing we can learn if your interested in more than last years Knicks.

you both are missing the point. Randle is playing very poorly. This is not a secret. Replacing a guy who is struggling like Randle is right now is likely to help you in the short term. That is the hope. What does that prove? When your players are playing well you have a better chance of winning. Cutting edge stuff.

The point is to get Randle back to moving the ball, hitting 3s and locking down post scores on D. That was the role carried us to a high seed last year and I believe some close version of that is attainable. If we get it the Knicks will have a great 2nd half. Maybe they get hot and win 60

MS @ 12/30/2021 2:45 PM
Acknowledging that Randle had the worst playoff performance anyone has ever witnessed last year and his struggles have carried over to this year is not crapping on Randle.

He’s been disengaged this year, is struggling with his shot and isn’t the same player is a big reason why we are out of the playoffs.

He was a monster last season and one of the best players in the league. That we can all agree with.

I think it’s a good time to see how the ball moves when he’s off the floor. Too often Randle has held the ball and guards are forced to take bad shots.

It’s a good barometer for the guys to see where they are and where we are without him.

Panos @ 12/30/2021 2:50 PM
Win 60 what?

Big reason why we're out of the playoffs?

We're 1.5 games back of the 6th seed and also 1.5 games back of the NBAs 10th best record.

Was Julius Randle the reason we were out of the playoffs last year @ 25-27 and 2.0 games below .500 after 52 games?!?

Oh how quickly this fan base has already forgotten.

Knicks wouldn't even have 5 wins this year without Julius Randle. 7-9 max.
