How many players have proved ;too sensitive to play in NY? Pretty much everyone. Maybe is time to consider whether being so obnoxious to players is worth it?
I never boo players, but I'm sure fans have written him off for good now. When has the best player on a team told it's fans to stfu?Melo took a lot of abuse and never went there.
Na. You don't never boo players.
You just root for them to suck and lose and TANK so you can have fun on draft night rooting for your little ping pong balls.
And fans have written him off for good? Who says, you? Because did you not watch the game last night or something?
Because real NY fans and true MSG faithful started to scream MVP MVP MVP by the thousands in attendance. And that was after he gave the thumbs down to the disgusting boo birds.
MSG faithful stuck up for Julius Randle last night with MVP chants.
So what are you talking about?
Did you not here his MVP chants in the 4th Q?
I'm a realist. This team isn't winning s* as currently constructed. you're right, not 1 fan will be offended by what he said. gtfo

I bet you were also saying the Knicks wouldn't make the playoffs as a 4 seed after being two games below .500 @ 25-27 after 52 games last year, too.
And after finishing 21-45 under Fizdale the year before you were probably the same fan telling everyone how it'll be impossible for NY to finish 41-31 and make the playoffs during only year #1 under coach Thibs while @ 25-27 and two games below .500 after 52 games; weren't you?
Don't look now but NY is on a two game winning streak, 5-2 during previous 7 games (.714%) and only 2.5 games away from the 6th seed and also only 2.5 games back of featuring the NBAs 10th best record.
"Not winning shit".
No reason to argue about this
Whatever reason Julius gave to tell people to stfu is wrong.
I hope he can see this say he is frustrated by slow start apologize and it’s dropped I’m sure. Knicks fans simply crave a winner and could’ve barked at another big time home deficit— which also understandable. Sometimes boos happen in sports it’s part of the terrritory

Do you feel that both of Derek Jeter and Patrick Ewing deserved to get booed by Yankee Stadium and MSG?
You might feel it's wrong for Julius Randle to have told them to STFU etc
but I feel NY fans were wrong to boo Julius Randle with his son in attendance (as they were wrong to boo both Jeter and Ewing).
I'm done with this boo bird talk I just hope MSG faithful gives Julius Randle the biggest roaring standing ovation ever come Monday vs. San Antonio. He deserves it.
He's only 27 years old.
Thibs is running him into the ground.
And using him as his race horse..
☆ 1st on the team in minutes played.
☆ 1st on the team in points scored.
☆ 1st on the team in rebounds.
☆ 1st on the team in assists.
☆ 1st on the team in Defensive Win Share.
▪︎ 0-2 without him.
Nah man. He didn't deserve to get booed.

Come on bro
Last time I had sex with my wife I got booed. I didn’t tell her to stfu😸

I watched that game yesterday and for about 65% of that game, the Knicks deserved to get boo’ed. They were terrible for the first one and a half quarters. That being said, I have no problem with Randle expressing himself. But if he does that, then he has to bring it every night to shut the fans up.

Fine enough. At least it was acknowledged he was wrong.
Great game by him last night.

I dig it. But I was also fine with his actions yesterday.
I hope he has a monster game tomorrow. And that many more are on tap.
And if Noel comes back healthier than he’s been, and EF has figured something out, anything can happen.

Lol, this was so predictable. I doubt he even wrote it. I’m sure his agents at CAA, Mountain Dew, Nike etc…. were just thrilled with his attitude. Shit gets real when your sponsors tell you to STFU. Isn’t Randle from Texas? He doesn’t have to love NY or the fans, who even gives a shit. The fans, we just want effort and good basketball. Be a leader not a dumbass.

You're just a Julius Randle critic.
You couldn't even accept his sincere apology without criticizing him with criticism such as "I doubt he even wrote it".

Get ‘em NYK….I know u are out numbered on this site, but don’t let that stop u. I don’t care if he wrote it or not. I don’t care if he was from mars. Starla is my favorite knick and he’s a country boy from the south.
The Knicks went 0-2 without Julius Randle (two atrocious loses).
But ever since he's returned?
N.Y. has gone 2-0.
And Julius Randle himself has combined for 52 Points, 24 Rebounds, 6 Assists, 3 steals, 20/40 from the field along with only 3 Turnovers and a +/- of +26.
That's an average of 26 points, 12 rebounds, 3 assists, 1.5 steals, FG% of .500%, only 1.5 turnovers per game and an average +/- of +13 per game.
By far the best player on our team and the heart and soul of NYK basketball.

lol in all seriousness I've been on work vacation since two weeks before Christmas and unfortunately have to return back this coming Monday so I've been having a little too much fun around here lately and have created too many threads but no worries the madness will soon come to an end and I'll only be able to post a couple times per day mostly in the Game Threads moving forward. It's been fun though.
And you're right. I'm without question out numbered around here in terms of support of Julius Randle. It's all good. I'll always refuse to become the type of sports fan who loves you while you're up before kicking you while you're down ala booing the likes of our best players such as Patrick Ewing, Derek Jeter and now Julius Randle.
Evan Fournier? I've only kicked him when he's down because outside of Boston 3x I've never been able to love him when he's up 😅 hopefully one day Evan Fournier does something that no NBA player has ever done since dating back to Larry Birds MVP season of 1986, makes an All-Star team, earns an All-NBA selection, takes home Most Improved Player award honors and leads NY into the playoffs etc because until then? His atrocious Defense makes me want to boo him every trip up and down the court.
Julius Randle on the other hand? He's saved NYC basketball for me as a longtime suffering fan (alongside of coach Thibs) and therefore he's earned my NYK support. I could never boo him. And can never respect the one's who do.
That statement is garbage.
His press conference was ridiculous, you just got $130MM, commercials, you’re in the top spot, you’re the leader. And when you’re the man, you get everything that comes with it.
Thumbs down and shut the fuck up? You’re 9-11 at home and you’re getting blown out by 25pts. Everyone works their asses off to afford these tickets to support the team. If effort isn’t there you have every right to boo. You don’t have the right to disparage players, talk about there families etc. that can’t be tolerated.
As of right now you won exactly 1 fucking playoff game and got blown out of the playoffs. You wilted when it mattered most. The fans got up and gave the team a standing O for the effort.
He’s a young guy working hard. But, it was hard to watch the way he was acting. Everyone gets a pass, but waging a war with the fans is downright stupid and worrisome as a leader.

I have been going to games for a lifetime. Fans say some disgusting things. Not talking nosebleed seats. They seem more vulgar and hateful in the first few rows. Almost like it's the guys making lots of money, slaving every day, that seem to hate watching guys making so much money doing what they love. I've heard guys say things that in everyday life would get your ass kicked. I have no problem with Randle shouting back. Maybe it's the primadonna fans that think they can say or do anything because they paid some money for a seat, that are the sensitive ones. Or maybe it's the media guys that are jealous and think players have to be robots. I personally would love to see a fan get slapped around after saying some of the nasty things they think they say. Should be part of sports just like have two a holes go in hockey.

There are many angles to this. This is a good take also. Fans are very brave yelling all kinds of stuff at players. YOu pay money for the seats and you want them to perform. Circus animal kind of stuff? They owe you? It get’s weird. Baseball is similar. The taunts in the outfield to players both home and away is crazy.
Little men taking pot shots at accomplished athletes making big money. Empowers them.
Jules is human and he had a very human resonse. I like the Statement he put out and it should be value because we did love him last year and he loved us back.
That he lead the team to the 4th seed was great. That we then say its a team game and do the blame thing vs. ATL in playoffs and justify booing him and spewing hate that he let us down is a bit shallow. He tried. I di d not question his effort. This year he is whining a bit more, and loafing at times. He earned the cred to come back from this. We should let him.
But at the end of the day I don't want to be like Julius Randle as a Knicks fan and go to war with my own fan base because even when we disagree on certain players and situations I got love for and appreciate all of you knuckleheads 😅
In all reality, I know everyone just wants to see Julius Randle return to last years MVP form and increase his FG and 3PT% so I understand where the frustration is coming from but unfortunately coach Thibs (who I appreciate) rides him like a work house and could be running him into the ground with all of these minutes played.
Randle before covid protocol had only missed a whopping 1 game throughout the previous two years and during the offseason? No NBA player worked himself harder in the gym than Julius Randle himself.
So when Julius Randle takes a play off here and there? It's not because he doesn't care. It's because he's fatigued. And when Julius Randle struggles some nights shooting? Lets be honest here.
It's because he's literally the only Knicks talent where opposing teams game plan for and then double team. He's got a lot of NY pressure on his back to carry this team and why? Because his teammates can not compete without him. He makes everyone's job easier. And takes all the pressure off of his younger teammates and puts that same pressure on himself. I truly appreciate him as a longtime suffering Knicks fan.
Some say Julius Randle was wrong for saying STFU with a thumbs down. Some feel he had every right. Let's just agree to disagree and agree that he's by far (without question) our best NY player since Carmelo Anthony.
Clearly the PR department, the front office or his advisors (probably all the above) got in his ear. Either way, Randle extended the olive branch with his words which is a good gesture. A better olive branch would be consistent effort on both sides of the court. If he does that, this situation will be a paragraph in his Knick story.
This is becoming a soap opera.
Look, before last season I was no Randle fan. His game was turn-over prone and he (and his partner in fumble, Elf) did nothing to endear themselves to me.
Last year, Randle began to develop into a borderline All Star and shut up critics such as myself. He was rewarded with enough money to support himself and everyone he knows for life.
I don't criticize him because he's enriched himself. I criticize him because he's not even the player he was last year.
There's no other metric involved.
There are repulsive, A-hole fans everywhere. Its just part of the game.
But at the end of the day its a game that we choose to play. I want the Knicks to win - I want the players to want to win. The expectation is that they work as hard as an Amazon warehouse worker does, nothing more, nothing less. Randle cannot divorce himself from this kind of simple expectation - "Play like you mean it".
When players slack, fans lose respect. The only thing that restores a cycle of mutual respect and team-hood is playing hard.
Sympathy cards don't win games, no matter how sincere they are. Try sending one to one of your bosses sometime.
