Knicks · LEAVE JULIUS RANDLE ALONE! (page 9)

Julius was mediocre at best year one, spectacular year two (worst playoffs of any starter) year three the team is under .500 at home and he’s shooting 41% and playing like the guy on year 1.

He gets the big contract isn’t performing. The fans don’t like the effort. He says shut the fuck up.

Has two mediocre games following.

Can he handle pressure?

He said he wanted to be here, but i think he's in "HIS FEELINGS at this point

Most Knicks fans don’t boo. The ones that do are either drunk and/or are Wall St douchebags paying $2,000 a ticket

BS, the teams gets booed when they struggle and are not playing hard

How do you determine if someone is playing hard or not?

- In Baseball NY Fans tend to boo if a guy tends to strike out several times in key moments - does that mean the player is not playing hard or just that the pitcher was better?

- In Football NY Fans tend to boo if a QB throws a key interception or is sacked multiple times for losses or if the play calling does not "go for it" in key situations such as on 4th down and a few yards - are the players not playing hard?

- In Basketball NY Fans tend boo when a player misses a number of shots or has bad turnovers and the team falls behind by a significant scoring gap. Does this really have anything to do with how hard a player is playing?

I tend to believe that fans who boo are (in general) either living/reacting solely in the moment for their own gratification or just not that knowledgeable about the up and down nature of sports performance/competition.

If a player is dying on picks and watching offensive plays unfold in front of him without resistance, those are clear indicators of lacking and effort. These plays have been pointed by bloggers for some time now and it's understandable if fans become frustrated. It's even more frustrating when you compare his effort on these plays to his effort last year. Now, I believe there is some merit to your point. But I believe there has been a genuine dip in Randle's effort level this season and it has been called out on a number of occasions.

I’m not a boo guy but isn’t booing a sign of dissatisfaction of a result?
Let’s say fan A has spent 85$ a seat for his tix( brought his two kids) food transportation etc
and he’s done This for years— a loyal fan who has spent his own hard money time and effort to enjoy his team. And now let’s factor in a team like the Knicks — who over a Kong multi year period of failure has a moment of momentary success( like last year) see a guy that may be a franchise player with other possible top guys. He comes into the season thinking well my time has paid off. Now I can enjoy basketball like some other fans do BUT it simply does not materialize. We lose a series of home games to bad teams by bigger margins. The guy who we were counting on has unfortunately regressed— so we hear some boos for dissatisfaction. Is this abnormal or wrong? It’s easy for a player or coach making multi millions to say @ hey wtf” are you barking at chump? He’s going back to his mansion and the guy and his kids have to fight the traffic in the dead of cold nights to make a train to go home after watching the 5 th poor result in a row.

Players and coaches who are on the other side of the fence and really they could personally care less if you and your kids had a good time or not. And that’s ok but don’t talk sht about the fan on the other side. You get paid a sht load of Monet to be professional about your actions.

Randle's low energy and lack of effort on defense and sloppy turnovers have been discussed ad nauseum on social media, blogs, this forum and others. If we see it, so do the people in the blue seats. In fact, they see it up close and personal and see things that people who watch from home aint able to see when the camera is off. I am also sure a lot of the people who attend games are the same people who read and or have contributed their opinion of Randle's play in social media, the blogs and forums. I don't think there's much of a separation between two. At times, Randle looks like a guy that got the bag and took his foot off the gas....

My point is not that Randle is a perfect player who deserves fan adoration at every turn - he's certainly not. However, I'm not a big fan of fan booing for any reason except to the extent of dirty play.

IMO your ratio of rabid vs casual fans attending games is off. IMO a majority of fans are much more casual and bandwagon than hardened basketball junkies who post and scour the internet and blogs all day for tidbits on the Knicks. It's why the same crowd chants "MVP" and "Boos" Randle in the same game. Simple as if the team is winning and Randle is playing like the bag man......they are not booing him. If the team is losing by 20 - they are booing.

Further, I think we underestimate how much energy and effort it takes for a guy to be a focal point on offense and average 34 minutes a night. Perhaps some of this is on Thibs if Randle does not have enough energy to sustain the necessary defensive effort for those minutes. We saw this before with Melo and Randle is getting roughly the same treatment - as the best player, he is the focal point of fan adoration and/or ire....from chants of MVP to loud Boos. To me this represents fan emotion, not fan knowledgeablity.

Anecdotally.... I'm a 25 Year Giants Season Tix holder (I've also had select season tix plans for the Rangers and Yankees in the past). I've experienced Eli Manning being booed mercilessly for throwing an interception by the same fans who loudly celebrated when he threw a touchdown in the same game. Thing is, those fans never once bothered to check if the interception was the result of a missed assignment/pattern by the receiver. I'm sticking with fans who boo are generally doing itin the moment for purely impulsive and emotional reasons.

So why were these "racists" able to look past race last season? They must not care too much about racism if they were happy to chant MVP last year for Randle.

I think your point is completely off-base. It aint that complicated. He's booed because he's not the version of the guy we saw last year. Full stop.

This is exactly what the problem is. Fans that are unhappy with themselves, for the many reasons you just mentioned, think they are DUE something. Most of the hate comes from jealousy. Think that If your life sucks and the $85 bucks a seat just kept you from eating, then maybe you have the problem not the Pros. Sure booing is okay, but some of the kind of nasty stuff said by fans should be met with a punch in the face.

When talking about fans, the majority are selfish fucks. They root for the team so that their hat and t-shirt somehow turns into a badge of honor. Or for bragging rights with their buddies who have alternative fandom with some other team. They could not give a shit about a player. Have always said if I was a player today, I would never leave money on the table for these idiots. How short a memory fans have. Randle gave up money to be here. First since Melo who can actually play and wants to be here and fans boo him. Great way to get the most out of him. Short memory indeed. As is the one about having a career year just under a year ago. Fuck those fans. They deserve to have Trae come in and stomp on their balls.

I dont think you do but no big deal. Players and coaches get paid big to act professional. Fans also have to act a certain way. But booing in terms of disappointment whether its long term based short term based whatever--its part of sports????? Always has been always will. So the players coaches--they can deal with moments of fan discord.

Seems like we all have a "type" we like to hate on. Some here like to kick the little guy like ELF and Frank. Some just go for the nearest Knick -- who's having a bad stretch, getting paid too much, stole my girlfriend, peed on my cornflakes etc. Personally I focus any vitriol on the arrogant big boys -- KD, KP, Labronna. I booed MJ while the Garden cheered him. To each his own I guess.

Are you one of those fans? Since you said "we deserve".

Said it was fine to boo. This ain't church.

I will continue to watch. I am not one of those fans who's life's are deeply affected by how a sports team plays. Which was another point. Those are exactly the ones acting like a holes projecting their unhappiness.

I root for Randle. All the Knicks. Know he will turn it around. When he does all these fans will get right back on the bandwagon or hope he breaks a leg. That is the scumbags that dare call themselves fans.

Horrible horrible take.

True. The fans acting like garbage mean well and deserve to yell what ever they want. Right? After all they did pay that $85 bucks. Btw, when was the last time you were at a game?

Sorry man. I played at a high level and always hated the short fat guy on the sidelines thinking he can say anything he wants. Which was usually something stupid. Along with some hate due to the fact that the best he ever did was eat donuts and played one time in summer camp.

Some are disatisfid with the performance, some the effort, some the money factor, some dare I say it can be racist? Black man, white wife, big money, etc etc. Sorry, its a part of reality.
you listed like 6 booBirds... some of these booBirds are absolutely the same.

Also do you have any references or are we just talking you as the resident on the spot booBird specialist?

Is booing helping the situation? If you want Randle traded, does it enhance his trade value? If you want him around, is it making him play better?

How many times do I have to say it aint that complicated.

Stop looking for types, stop looking for racism, stop guessing if the fan had a bad day.

Hey Julius play better and you won't get booed. Problem solved.
