Knicks · So Randle cant be traded until tomorrow? (page 5)

Rookie @ 2/5/2022 8:07 AM
When asked if he”s disappointed not making the AS team reserves, Randle - ‘Nah’

I’m really done with it this clown. He needs to take some ownership of his own bad play, poor effort and our teams lack of winning. What a moron

Chandler @ 2/5/2022 9:19 AM
Personally it was kind of a dick question. If he had AS numbers and didn’t make it then fair game.

He’s not producing as much this year and he knows it. Either he doesn’t care or he has some nagging issue like plantar fasciitis

franco12 @ 2/5/2022 9:35 AM
if he is still here, does that mean he won't get traded? Clearly no deal was lined up.

yea but other players would have had a very different answer. One of my favorite players to listen to during interviews was Sprewell because he had such a rep from his choking incident, but he was so intelligent and reasonable when interviewed.

I do wonder if there is some nagging physical issue. Should he be shut down for like a month to recover? Does he need surgery?

‘Yes I’m disappointed…… blah blah blah’. It just shows you how off script he is. They are trained to answer these questions. Randle is really embracing his inner child. Trade his. He is too entitled to care about team. Trade him

You see this every other game.

this looks terrible... will be really interesting to see if we can get this guy back to where he was last year or if we move him.

This is the FO's 2nd real challenge. The first was what to do with the $55mm whatever they had in capspace. That was less than exciting. Now lets see how they handle the Randle situation.

Nalod @ 2/7/2022 11:11 AM
OMG, we to keep piling on randle because we did not like this attitude with the video guy?
Does it matter why he was upset? Or we in "how dare he disrespect the laptop guy. If he does him, he does me?"
From "reports" I read, the guy was showing Randle how to better clean up his hard drive and Randle was like "Really? can we wait until later?"
Im kidding. WTF knows what got him. Maybe he was upset that the price on Bounty paper towels went on sale and he over paid?
Or the coach was like "hey, look what they saying on ULTIMATEKNICKS about you!"

This is a pattern of behavior. If it was one off I would agree with you. The same thing I said with KP when he started to act like a diva. I don't care how good you are if you start to cause drama I want you gone. The Knicks have been marred in drama for way too long for me to still be accepting of it. If he is doing stuff like this in public can you imagine if the coaches point out his low effort in the film room? We go out of our way to draft high character guys now. I don't want them being around this type of stuff. This is just my opinion on the situation though.

Couldn't have said it better...This is definitely a pattern with him. The low effort games, the terrible body language, the battle with the fans, the constant battle with the refs, the recent technical fouls, the battle with the coaches....Imagine what we don't see. I made mention of this before, but he is definitely bringing back the circus-like atmosphere that surrounded this team for years.

Moving him is addition by subtraction to an extent. The rumors of some players being unhappy with lack of accountability is clearly about Randle. This is supposed to be the face of our franchise, the guy our young players are supposed to follow?

Hopefully, this front office is open to moving him....

if the team has a legit problem with Randle, isn't that Thibs responsibility? And I have to imagine he would be handling it now, no? I don't get it

Randle was never this moody. Something is up.

Maybe. Thing is...I don't care. Randle could be caught snorting coke off Brittany Renner while piping her raw and I wouldn't care. What I do care about is a consistent effort on the court. He's a professional basketball and he needs to control his emotions and act like a professional. To his credit, he's picked up the effort recently.

Chandler @ 2/7/2022 1:06 PM
My guess with Randle is

(a) he truly has some nagging injury like plantar fasciatis or something similar really inhibiting his ability to run as much as we would like. Thibs has at least mentioned he's dinged up (couple weeks back)

(b) he is stuck in his own head, perhaps feeling he's being vastly underpaid as compared to last season's performance yet he's the lightning rod for all the teams woes

they either need to sit him more, tell him to take some time away, or trade him.

that video is not a good look -- yet again

I suspect Randle may have a nagging injury and is struggling with the weight of expectations as the losses mount up... I also think Thibs is probably laying into him and when you add the fan reaction - it piles up. His possible injury could explain why (aside from 1st half of Lakers game) he has seemed to play even slower than usual, hold the ball more and has been less effective. There is always a reason and why we may never learn the truth - I doubt he just got that much worse unless it's an injury or psychological thing... don't think it's all Kemba and/or EF's fault

I say why not? Adding Kemba and EFs is about fit. If they don't fit, their addition can impact Randle. The other issue, where I agree with, is self pressure to perform as good or better than last year. Also the expectations of receiving some grace from fans and the the media, that Randle might think he deserve. And the booing and negative articles contradicts the level of grace Randle was expecting, for the amount of work and achievements he put in last year.
