Not sure why he's even playing anymore. He's a complete waste of space because of atrocious Defense. Hated the signing of him from day one. Wish he'd go back to Orlando and lose some more already.

I hated the Fournier signing. Scott Perry needs to be removed. How is he still involved with the team? Terrible evaluator

It's weird how peoples feelings on EF is so diff. I have no problem with him. He is going to score but be inconsistent. He will also have some games where he will keep you in it or outright win it for you. His defense will not be great but he will get steals at better than expected. After his injuries he has lived up to his contract in my opinion. He might be even better for us off the bench where they play a more team centered game. EF can shoot but he is not a spot up shooter and that is what he turns into when we go ISO ball.

Ranked as the 157th Guard in the NBA salary to production. He is a 10 million dollar a year player making 20 million.

Exact blame when it goes wrong but no praise on that which is positive? Anything last year you liked by your standard would be on him. Love Grimes? His. Deuce? His……. ETC……..

My take is Leon, Wes, Perry, Zannn and ALLER also take input from coaches. To what extend? I don’t know. It is a collaberative effort. IN fact, It was that way in Orlando when he was just the Assistant GM. We forget they made the playoffs a few times in that regime. Better than we did in fact. Magic went in a different direction and made some good picks but bad healthy and a host of issues plague them in the aftermath.

Its entirely possible Perry said “dont’ bring him here”. Or……..Here is what we get and DON”T GET.
The team attempted to improve its offense from last year. You can’t micro manage personal based on some decisions. It was not outright incompetance and it won’t erase what happened.

IMHO Randle is the type of guy who constantly needs to be reminded to play the right way and hustle. Maybe not every game but he just needs attention all the time.

Knicks will have to decide if that attention is worth his play.

ToddTT @ 2/6/2022 12:09 PM
I wonder if Thibs and crew forgot about this…

https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/3150...

When the new Knicks brain trust of Leon Rose and William Wesley were hired, it was Randle's thoughts on the new coaching staff that got their attention.

"Wes called me -- he's like, 'Yo, what do you need?'" Randle said during a recent appearance on The Woj Pod. "'What do you need to be an All-Star? What do you need to lead this team?' And one of the things I told him was, I really need a coach to hold me accountable and a coach to push me."

Seems like that was in a time long ago in a galaxy far, far away. They should have asked what he needed to be a perennial all star cuz that answer is brain surgery. But, he is our 6-11” mental midget for the next 4 years so you leave him alone. Your words are hurtful

That is fine but that is also taking into account the time period when he was clearly injured. Numbers alone are not useful when missing context. Some might choose to ignore that period that when ever he jumped he grimaced and limped back on defense or when his shoulder was heavily taped up and filled with cupping marks used to promote blood flow to an area of the body. Should he have sat out games when he was injured? Yes. However, he did not so I will take that into account when looking at his stats.

You're using Sportrac, right?

https://www.spotrac.com/nba/valuation/gu...

Frank is 130. Denis Smith Jr is 75. Are you saying we'd be better with them than Fournier?

Fournier has officially grown on me. He called them out for their effort in attacking and he responded. I think he wants to win. We need everyone to want to win. Or more players.

It's like if you're told you need to sit or walk differently with a different posture to avoid back trouble- he keeps making the effort for a while then slumps back into his old way of sitting/walking when not making the extra conscious effort.

That same Sportac list also listed him at 48 last year at virtually the same salary. We all know Fournier played like garbage earlier in the season, but he has picked it up and it wouldn't surprise me if he stepped it up in whatever metrics they used. Fournier has grown on me as well. Starting caliber hooters are expensive and the market pretty much set his contract. That said I wouldn't mind getting out of it if the right deal came along. Grimes looks like he can plug into the SL at much cheaper price.

very underrated point!! If he were 20-24 I would be more hopeful about change... at 27 after 7-8 years in the league I'm doubtful

Evan Fournier and Kemba Walker once again destroyed us on Defense (like I said they would before the game) and they both shot us out of the game only going 4/14 from 3 with atrocious D.

Oh well.
5 games below .500.
4.5 back from even the 8th seed Play In.

I used to love Thibs but not anymore. The more he plays EF and Kemba the more I lose by love I once had for him.

Way too much EF and Kemba in the 3rd quarter

Most mind boggling part of the game. IQ, our best perimeter defender, pretty much benched the second half while Monk was knocking down 3’s at will

IQ our best perimeter defender?

Yes

He’s no Elf but still

Bad play, but right intentions. He wanted to hook up RJ for the easy two, but Westbrook decided to play defense that one time.

This game went into overtime so....

Chandler @ 2/7/2022 1:08 PM
can someone remind me. DId JR get his tech from the bench when in regulation, i.e., if he kept his mouth shut RJ's shot is the game winner?

IIRC, they missed the FT attempt for the tech.

We got lucky with a ton of LA misses from the line to close out the game. Even if you add a couple points on the board for Kemba's brain fart and let the butterfly effect go from there, I'm not sure it makes a difference. At least that's how I've rationalized it...

Was kind of fun being on the other end of that for once.
