Knicks · I wrote that Brunson would ultimately get a max contract (page 1)

BRIGGS @ 4/22/2022 12:00 PM
During season. Was not really taken well. Now he’s a lock for a max contract
Uptown @ 4/22/2022 12:21 PM
Most definitely. Never understood the reservations about signing him. If you watched this kid play since 'Nova, you knew he was highly skilled and it was evident that he was a leader, winning 2 chips. The fact that Brunson was able to adjust and still excel playing beside Luka, who essentially took the ball out of Jalen's hands says a lot about his IQ and ability to be effective without the ball. Brunson would be the best player on this team if we are able to add him.
smackeddog @ 4/22/2022 12:23 PM
BRIGGS you write lots of things during the season, usually the opposite of what you said a few weeks before. Don't remember Brunson getting the max was a particularly hot take, just disagreement whether we want to do that and if the Mavs would do a sign and trade
martin @ 4/22/2022 1:15 PM
I don't know what price point Brunson would land on but would anyone do a Brunson S&T for Randle?

who wouldn't is the question. I feel like we have some quality bigs and this would help balance out the roster. I'm not ready to jettison Randle as unsalvageable - but Randle and their pick for Brunson would seem like a win win trade for both clubs. Wrong?

And don't get us excited!

Yeah, I have no idea how Dallas values Brunson or how Knicks feel about Randle (but I'd guess it's in line with most of what Knicks fans think).

Dallas seems like it is doing OK against Utah even without Doncic (and I say this without seeing any of the games) but I don't know if they are realistically going to beat some of the even better western conference teams without a big that can also dominate.

Would the Mavs be taking a risk on Randle given his huge inefficiencies? Cuban seems like a risk taker and what other avenues do they have for an upgrade that could be significant? I dont' know.

Does Dallas need another big for a team like PHO? Or if they had to play Memphis, Denver, Wolves?

Brunson, Dorian Finney-Smith for Randle, Noel?

KnickDanger @ 4/22/2022 4:28 PM
Brunson gets a max for a good year/excellent series? I don't know. What does that come to? Does every good player get a max now?

I'm still waiting for Frank "the Tank" Kaminsky to fulfill his potential as a 12th man

Knixkik @ 4/23/2022 2:45 AM
Brunson is great and has earned whatever contract he gets. He’s playing like a star in the playoffs.
Nalod @ 4/23/2022 7:30 AM
With Luka out an opportunity to demonstrate his value was created and he stepped up.

I thought Dallas really liked Finney-Smith.

Key question is what does Kidd think? I think Kidd is a really good coach and maybe a change of voice helps.

If Brunson really wants a big deal like Randle's, maybe this is a deal that works out for us.

I will happily take the other side of this bet.

I think they do. I think they like advancing further into the playoffs more. Have to see if Randle may be that enticement but who knows

I don't watch Dallas games at all, so I'll start there.

But having someone else who can carry the regular season burden of scoring, rebounding for months at a time could be beneficial for someone like Doncic. Let's him coast for long periods and keep fresh for playoffs.

DFS doesn't do that.

Ok. Corned beef sandwich knish and cream soda are the prize. I’ll take Brunson getting max

regardless of the particulars any of us come up with, the deal seems to make a lot of sense for both clubs, and I hope they make a deal. It just helps both teams too much to not do it.

While that sounds delightful, I don't think it's possible. Let's just make it that we change our signatures to say "I was wrong, BRIGGS was right until game 1 of the regular season."

I think Max for Brunson will be 25% of the Cap. So essentially ypu are betting he will make more than $30M per which would put him on the top 10 highest paid PGs.

Allanfan20 @ 4/23/2022 8:26 PM
Briggs, your boy Pritchard is lighting it up against the Nets. Tell him to keep it up. F’ the Nets.
Chandler @ 4/23/2022 11:16 PM
You also wanted Ky Bowman w the first pick
gradyandrew @ 4/23/2022 11:31 PM
Or we could change our signature to "Jack Lame"
