He would challenge for league MVP and be the superstar this team has lacked since Carmelo.
Like Carmelo, Kyrie is not perfect but he is the better player of the two.
Truly believe Kyrie would be beloved by Knicks fans because the dude is straight up cold blooded and can win games by himself.
Would also make a great story every time he goes up against the Nets. Kyrie and Ben Simmons both need the ball in their hands, so do not see that as a match; despite his friendship with the best player in the world, KD.
Guess it's that time of year.

The “Ew” kind of depends on cost. A focused Kyrie is top 10 player in the league. Like grabbing Chris Paul 10 years ago. If he didn’t come with baggage, we wouldn’t get a sniff of him.
I can imagine what this board would have said about picking up Sprewell post-choke. Ole crazy eyes was solid for us.
I’d be open to Kyrie depending on cost.
Kyrie would be a debacle here. He’d play maybe 20 games a season before forcing us to trade him because Thibs dared to criticize anything he ever did ever
The nba is using the Knicks to get the nets more leverage in trade negotiations
That decision will go to james dolan not scott perry, not leon rose, or william wesley strictly james dolan decision. James dolan doesn't like anti vaxers and that includes kyrie irving.

I’m hoping and praying Dolan has learned something from all the failed starphucing
The Knicks trading a bunch of young assets for a an always injured headcase who we will be forced to trade inside of 2 years would literally set us back another 10 years
So I said the same thing. Ew or hell no. Just the thought of him in a knick uniform. UNTIL I came across this article (empire………) on the UK home page.
“For the Knicks, the likely path to acquire Irving depends on what the Nets prioritize. New York is even with the salary-cap line for 2022-23, so it could clear enough space to sign Irving on a maximum contract by offloading salaries such as Evan Fournier, Alec Burks, Nerlens Noel and Kemba Walker. But the Knicks could also offer some or all of those players to the Nets or a third team in a possible sign-and-trade,” Charania wrote.

Moving Burks, Fournier, Noel and Walker, while adding a hungry mvp caliber player who ready to prove the fans and naysayers who call him crazy. While UNLEASHING this youth movement.

Get kyrie and draft the best center, assuming Mitch could be gone. That’s 2 holes to fill. I still think a shooting big acquisition is needed to open the floor for this youth energy led by IQ playing off Kyrie and learning at the same time. Forget his off the court self righteousness. On the court he’s an assassin and these young guards we have can always take a little piece of wisdom and basketball art to increase their skill set. I think it’s a short term backup plan that’s a win win for both sides.

If that is the cost, I am all for it. Feel the Nets would want young/draft assets though.
Irving has always been a problem with fan bases but yet to hear that his teammates had a problem with him. So there is that. We just have to keep in mind that he can still ball but not the guy that played in Cleveland. Fans sometimes remember the pinnacle of aging trade prospects and not the aged reality.
Like totally. Fer sure.

Is this some sort of passive/aggressive Melo hate thread?
Excuse me, I need to go bump the "Knicks need Bent Simmons" thread...
Or maybe start a "You, like know, what the Knicks, like need? James Harden!" thread...

Can't do it. I've seen him destroy two locker rooms already. And he doesn't play. If he can't handle the Fisher Price version of media scrutiny over in Brooklyn, I sure as heck don't want to see what happens to him here.

Dude, I have plenty of self respect, that is why I would like a superstar point guard that Thibs is apparently found of.
If Kyrie actually committed to playing every game and giving 100% to the team, then he would be a godsend for us. But he has shown that he is only going to do the bare minimum and will look for every chance he can get to miss games. It is what led to the Nets' failure this year, and we would end up with the same result. Just say no to Kyrie.

Seriously Ew. I want no part of Kyrie Irving. The guy won't play. He will most likely poison the young roster. The trades here are ridiculous too. Noel, Kemba, and Fournier? Why would the Nets even entertain that trade? Thats a salary dump. I would do it just to flip him to the Lakers for unprotected draft picks
He reminds me too much of Carmelo - hugely talented player that doesn't make the team better.
