Hypo spit ball time:Say Ben Simmons is healthy. I know he all damaged and weak. But say Johnny Bryant wants to get his hands on him and get him right. No DM trade, but instead trade Randle who might waive his no trade clause given the geographical benefit of the trade. Paired with Brunson and now moving OBI to the starting line up you have a 6-10 guard who can't shoot for shit beyond 15 feet but is a 3 time Allstar defender who can guard 5 positions.
Im not saying this lands us in contention but we keep our booty full of trade treasure, and give RJ more room to breath on the perimeter.
This gives the nets perhaps a complimentary piece upfront.
Im assuming also that we get the last 38 game RJ to be the norm.
And, OBI hit 35% of his deep 3's.What don't I know? Has Ben Simmons grown up enough to give two shits and phuch about his career and how he wants to carry himself? Beyond the fans perspective what is the coaches perspective and is he a lost cause?
I would be down to rehab Ben Simmons, but we'd have to buy low. I would be interested in letting Randle go for Ben. Having Jonny Bryant on staff kind of does that. He could be our Dray Green.

Does Randle have a NTC?? I can't find anything on that.
In any event, I want nothing to do with BS. We got people complaining about Julius's attitude as it is. Take that and multiply it by 10 for Ben - the best case scenario is to give him the benefit of the doubt and accept that he has mental health issues. They already went and threw him into the fire of NY, but escalate that further with the orange and blue spotlight?
He has a 15% trade kicker, my mistake.
Not like Randle has been exactly immune to the pressures either. My take is Simmons is motivated and matured to deal with it. If not, I agree its a bad take.
Im looking for a reboot.
Mostly I pray Randle can rebound to something in between his all NBA season and what he gave us last year. A little more effort on defense, have easier looks from Brunson, and remove the fuck face and not argue with refs.

Jamal Crawford's time as a Knick is criminally underrated. (As was Gus Johnson's on the play by play!)

This could be the reason why they put Obi as the young player in their trade proposal. With Obi here Melo does not have a spot. Melo looks to be our backup 4 if what I am sensing is true.

When on the BUlls we used to conspire a trade for him and Marcus Fizer….or “CrawFiz”……..
He was underrated but it was the isiah era and it was awful. Best player on an awful team.
Is that “criminally under rated?”. Good subject to break down. There was a lot of games that were not clutch or no opportunity for last minute heroics.
Clean wrote:My conspiracy spider sense is tingling. I have a feeling Melo is going to sign with us if we trade for Mitchell. I still have not forgotten that dinner with Dolan. Rose and Melo are close. We are also deep into free agency without Melo even looking for a team to play on. There has been no rumors and he just been chillin in NY the whole time.

You had dinner with Dolan?
I believe thru the Melo era there was one constant and that was Dolan. Very turbulant era as we blew thru 4 Front office personel. He was Traded under the puppet regime that was Walsh but Isiah was in Dolans ear. Then Grunwald with Isiah back in the shadows. Then Phil, and departed by Mills/Perry. I left out the Brief Mills era prior to Jax.
My guess is Dolan keeps stepping back and lets his people run things now. I have no issue with Melo return and can’t say he’d be a problem, but will he add to the team? Sure there is the “Veteran Mentorship” we love to throw in and he seems to be a good teammate but Actually its not what he can do for knicks, but what can they do for him in his twilight beyond make a feel good fairwell tour? If thats what it is, thats cool.
I like Melo and like to see him with a contender. If Cleans spidy sense says something I think he is missing one thing and that there exists another NY team in Brooklyn who might be a more logical sport for him. I doubt ego is a thing at this point as his role would be defined were ever he goes and would choose to accept it. But a vet heavy contender could be fun for him and if called upon should be well rested and be able to get some buckets.

Ben Simmons would be the next great knick debacle
Either the kid has some serious mental health issues we haven’t been told about or he got caught point shaving with the 76ers and is in hiding/shadow suspension like what happened to Jordan

I never considered point shaving… but that isn’t out the realm of possibility. That playoff series against Atlanta was ridiculous. He turned down open shots in elimination games….

So tilt to conspiracy is the ignorant choice. If you read about this guy the last few years you’ll find he was a supreme talent and its been noted he is a spoiled entitled personality who makes incredible money and and has not really had to work overly hard. Granted, he still is in the top 1% on the planet and has accomplished but you take one series and the backlash from the public and run with that.
Plausible scenario is the guy crushed under pressure. Like many athletes doe. His coach did not help. He should handle it better. We all get that.

And we all love to tune in and see that happen! Adds intereset to the first 20 games of the season!
Durant is one of the games best but not trade value wise. Kyrie might be the most skilled dude in the game and fun to watch. But yes, an airhead for sure. Seth Curry and Joe Harris can shoot the shit out of the ball.
They are damn good on paper.
Paper don’t play.

Yeah I guess you’re right Ben Simmons has been MIA from basketball for 2 years because that new Call of Duty on XBox is just too good

Simmons missed one season. Not two. From the end of the ATL series to this fall it will have been 16 months since he last played a game. But its one season.
Stick to your post of "point shaving", not tilt like a 12 year old and change the narrative into "what ever". Thats what children do when they can't finish conversation.
Nobody said Simmons was not without issues. Pretty lame to accuse him of point shaving. Social media posting is not an excuse to spew nonsense.
Have some dignity in what you post.

Season 1. 2019-20. Kyrie plays 20 games, Dinwiddie, Harris and LeVert are mainstays with Taurean prince, temple Garret and Jared allen. Atkinson goes 28-34 and they fire him. Jacque vaughn finishs 7-3.
Atkinson wanted out, I get it. Team complexation changed big time.
Season two. 48-24 short season. Kyrie and harris play 9 of 12 playoff games and they come within a toe of advancing vs. Milwaukee. That might have been the window. Durant was amazing in his return carrying them on his back. Perhaps its not far fetched that they win it all instead of Milwaukee. He hits that clutch shot to win, but his toe on the line and its a tie. They were gassed.
Last year a shit show with Kyrie, Harden, then Simmons.
I cannot see given all that happened with that roster how it falls SQUARELY on Nash? I don't see he is an elite coach, but I don't see where he faltered greatly. Not saying he did a great job but then I don't know if that was even possible with all that went on. He is inexperienced. That Durant wanted him out? That matters. That they wanted Atkinson out? That was not "fair" to him given the job he did, but he wanted things done his way and that team changed over night. Sort of like when David Blatt ran the Cavs to rebuild then Lebron came. Would they have hired him if Lebron was rostered? Doubt it. He was an NBA rookie coach. He still took them to finals but they needed a different type of coach to get over the hump and Lebron knew this.
Atkinson from what i read was very into self promotion and that would not have worked. He also wanted a to continue his culture of workouts and how they were be done. That was great with a younger team and he did great with it. Maybe he in line to takes Kerrs job and further experience he adds to his chops. Coaches evolve.
Nash a First ballot HOF two time MVP and not to be disrespected. Does that make him an elite coach? Of course not. Great game manager coach? No, and he should ahve help on the bench for that.
But I don't see were he totally was inept outside of the chaotic circumstances that surrounded that team. Covid, Kyrie, injuries, Harden, Simmons. Thats a lot for any team to not function properly.
Glad Tsai stood by him.
I agree with many talking heads if they start out well things should be cool. If not, Nash could go, or they trade out Durant. For now they going into camp and try to work it out.
