The nets biggest problem is nash. The guy can’t coach his way out of a wet paper bag. Durant knows this but then again he got Atkinson fired and asked for him

Season 1. 2019-20. Kyrie plays 20 games, Dinwiddie, Harris and LeVert are mainstays with Taurean prince, temple Garret and Jared allen. Atkinson goes 28-34 and they fire him. Jacque vaughn finishs 7-3.
Atkinson wanted out, I get it. Team complexation changed big time.

Season two. 48-24 short season. Kyrie and harris play 9 of 12 playoff games and they come within a toe of advancing vs. Milwaukee. That might have been the window. Durant was amazing in his return carrying them on his back. Perhaps its not far fetched that they win it all instead of Milwaukee. He hits that clutch shot to win, but his toe on the line and its a tie. They were gassed.
Last year a shit show with Kyrie, Harden, then Simmons.

I cannot see given all that happened with that roster how it falls SQUARELY on Nash? I don't see he is an elite coach, but I don't see where he faltered greatly. Not saying he did a great job but then I don't know if that was even possible with all that went on. He is inexperienced. That Durant wanted him out? That matters. That they wanted Atkinson out? That was not "fair" to him given the job he did, but he wanted things done his way and that team changed over night. Sort of like when David Blatt ran the Cavs to rebuild then Lebron came. Would they have hired him if Lebron was rostered? Doubt it. He was an NBA rookie coach. He still took them to finals but they needed a different type of coach to get over the hump and Lebron knew this.
Atkinson from what i read was very into self promotion and that would not have worked. He also wanted a to continue his culture of workouts and how they were be done. That was great with a younger team and he did great with it. Maybe he in line to takes Kerrs job and further experience he adds to his chops. Coaches evolve.

Nash a First ballot HOF two time MVP and not to be disrespected. Does that make him an elite coach? Of course not. Great game manager coach? No, and he should ahve help on the bench for that.
But I don't see were he totally was inept outside of the chaotic circumstances that surrounded that team. Covid, Kyrie, injuries, Harden, Simmons. Thats a lot for any team to not function properly.
Glad Tsai stood by him.
I agree with many talking heads if they start out well things should be cool. If not, Nash could go, or they trade out Durant. For now they going into camp and try to work it out.

You think nash is a good coach lol. Oh God

Sucks for Boston, prob out for year

Nalod @ 9/2/2022 2:22 PM
Not the summer of fun for him! Gallo always a knick. Kid had a nice career. Sucks for him.
Boston? Fuck Boston and Ainge!!!!

How Orlando must be feeling about Holmgren with his injury considering the ordeal with Jonathon Issac and his? Perhaps that risk vs the solid physiology of Bancharo had something to do with it? Not saying any predicted this as it played out but Bancharo was the safer bet.

Everyone at ESPN spent July crowing about what an amazing offseason the Celtics had ignoring that Brogdon and Gallo have been injured a good portion of their careers. Feel bad for Gallo, but not for the Celtics.

Yep, can't ignore the injury history of Gallo and Brogdon- while they got a lot of praise this offseason, it could end up as the Celtics essentially just got shallower (when Brogdon goes out with an injury) and Al Horford got older.

If he was not here, we'd be mad FO did not sign him!!!!
but now he here, and French, we have Weis and Frank to not want any French. Ronny Turiaf says otherwise.
When EF is hot and doing his JJ Reddick impersonation (sans the good hair) in the garden and it rocks, ,that is a great thing! Days its good to be a knick. Lets be real, fans love their dudes but when we turn. Its as ugly.

what's easy for Stephan A is if he rants against the Knicks then its ranting to the angry. If they start winning he can do the "I was wrong" thing, and that will be news, to which all will love to hear.
If they don't win, he looks good.
He can't lose.

What he does is different than most journalists. He's an entertainer first and foremost. I don't think he even writes anymore. He's just good TV.

He is very entertaining. he dropped the angry thing which works. I liked the little kid doing him for a while. Good stuff. Same with Barkley. Agree or not the delivery is the thing.

There is something to be said for the fact that he is the Knicks 4th option next year….

I want to like him. I think this year will be a big improvement with Jalen helping chemistry on the offense.

He’s just got to stop being a 20-20 player. Scoring and giving up 20 on any night.

I ignore people who seem desperate to trade EF. I would not have minded him being traded for Mitchell but I would not just give him away. All they see him as is the player who was playing through a shoulder and ankle injury at the start of the season. They ignore that once he got healthy he played well and we have a good defense with him in the starting unit the games Kemba did not play. He has his faults but that is on Thibs for not sitting him when he has those off games. We know he will have one game every 7 or 8 where he will not be able to hit a shot. He had it recently in FIBA. During those games instead of playing him his normal minutes how about you sit him and give more minutes to others since we know what we will get from him that game.

I do want to trade him for a better 2 way player, but you do have a point about how bad Thibs substitutions were last year. I don’t expect any changes to the roster before the season. Mostly because Fournier might look better next season with a actual PG and there won’t be a reason for a trade.

I don't get why Buddy Hield and Duncan are regarded having at least neutral values, but Fournier is seen as an albatross by bball writers when he has the better contract. Shooting is good for the young players- spacing is good! Priority needs to be trading randle, not sure why Fournier has seemingly gotten that status from the front office. My wariness is, with Fournier AND Rose, you're capping IQ's or Cam's mins. If we ship out Cam (which I think would be a mistake- I'd love to see him as the main backup SF/PF if we can get rid of Randle.

I think we should initially move Fournier to the bench, see how Grimes looks as starter (don't want to pile too much pressure on him too soon), because of his poor defence, I don't see Thibs over dosing on Fournier's mins. Then nearer the deadline, see whether we need to tank more, and what you can get for Fournier and decide then whether to move him or keep him until the offseason.
