Knicks · Knicks should take Jalen Williams and not mess around They had same chance with Halliburton (page 1)

BRIGGS @ 6/22/2022 1:30 PM
Williams is a bigger better passing Jrue Holiday. We already have a catch and shoot SG prospect in Grimes we have our wing position set with Barrett----we are NOT set at PG---this guy is a NO BRAINER pick at 11 No way he lasts to 15 --if we leverage 11 we get a really good PLAY now guy with his prospects. I really dont want to pick a center 11 and there is no other PG until Kennedy Chadler who is good but too small for such a high pick. Williams is a no brainer where we pick. if gone Branhan(can shoot!!!!!!!) or eason but dont DRAFT a replicate position role player!!!

i'm on the jalen williams bandwagon too.

if we stay at 11 he's my choice.

Can I make a move with Charlotte to give up 11 and maybe take back Hayward to get 13 and 15 and take both Williams and Eason?

I’d do it but not sure how we take 30 mm

Naw, we gonna get that 7 pick from Portland, flame out in our attempt to get pick 4, and settle on Shaedon Sharpe and run wild. Even Raptors fans will have to recognize we're more Canadian than they are. Shai will inevitably force a trade and BAM! We're back in the game.

First got to clear 25mil per. Your also taking on three roster spots. We keeping 11? 42? Mitch walking?
Lots to do first. But anything is possible.
Boston should figure out a way to get Him back. They needed one more shooter.

Chandler @ 6/22/2022 2:26 PM
i can get behind Jalen Williams

failing that we should get a Shooter -- this range has been historically good for getting a shooter some of whom grew into Stars. That could be M.Branham or Griffin (who i'm wary of because of Duke and because of injuries, but he does have NYK connections -- his dad was an assistant with Thibs)

All that said, i'd like to think we get our act together and improve this year. SO the chance to pick high in the draft reduces. I would try and move up THIS year if FO thinks Ivey or another is the real deal. We'll be picking in the 20s after this year

I was thinking expiring contracts (or team options) like Kemba, Noel, Burks would get it done.

Hayward
13 Williams
15 Eason

for

11
Walker
Noel
Burks

Saves them a bit of money without waiving our MLE or Bi-Annual.

Seems like the best pick at #11. Provides most of what we need and can realistically obtain.

My key concern is that he has not had a high level of competition in college, so not sure how his game would translate to NBA speed.

Normally, at #11 you swing for the fences and try to get the prospect with the highest upside. But I just do not see such high risk-high reward prospects this year.

I keep hearing Halliburton is better than Kobe yet he hasn’t been on a team that has won more than 31 games in a season so far.

Would do that trade in a nanosecond

Who said Halliburton is better than Kobe?

I'd think they want that off the books ASAP to resign Miles Bridges.

This. I would be all over that. It really gives us another gear to switch our rebuild into while exchanging vets for great draft position. It also gives us another look in the backcourt, maybe. It goes against the win now motto which is fine by me. We are not in the position to win now anyway. It enables us to use those short term contracts the best way they are meant to be used: trade value. Do we get a PG of the future? Maybe, maybe not. At least we are not trading one away. Hayward is pretty good too. Let's get it done

Williams is a really good prospect, but he is not a pg. The difference between Williams and Jrue is on the defensive end. Jrue is an all-NBA level defender while defense is Williams's weakness, especially defending smaller guards which is another reason why his best position is that of a secondary ball-handler on the wing.

With that said, on the offensive end, he can score at all three levels and plays at his own speed. He is efficient and seems to really understand how to play the game. We can certainly use more high IQ guys in this roster. If that's who we want, he will be available in the late teens and can be had if we trade back.

smackeddog @ 6/22/2022 4:34 PM
We’re not taking Williams- no rumor or draft board has us taking him- this is all just set up so you can have your draft day meltdown when we don’t pick the player we were never going to, but you wanted (Nesmith, Wiseman, whatever)

He’s got dribble pass shot down as much as anyone being drafted. At 6-6 with extremely long arms he’s got the making of a defensive nightmare w diversity to guard multiple positions. He owns his own pace which takes years to develop. At 6-6 210 he can blanket 1 guards( most of them) he was easily the best player who played at the combine and he showed his stuff at all 3 level. I read than Jaden Ivey had 27 dunks this year— well Williams has 25. In the first 15 players he’s the best passer. To me he’s a hybrid pg with nba caliber 3 point range. He would fit in well here— we need another conjoining playmaker who can slot 1-2-3. Play with all the guys. He’s a no brainer for where we pick(11) we’re not getting Johnny Davis at 11 we’re not getting guys we are going to see go above us.
He’s the Halliburton we missed and have another chance at

Kemet @ 6/22/2022 5:28 PM
If we select 6.6 Jalen Williams with the 11th pick then the Knicks have to trade RJ Barrett asap this offseason, or Jalen Williams will pick up a lot of Barrett's bad habits.
In the last 3 yrs draft-class a lot of 6.5 to 6.7 players were 10 times better having a higher IQ and talent level than Barrett.

Davis does look like a Thibs guy. If it came down to those two, I'd expect WWW to do the right thing and put Thibs in his place.
TPercy @ 6/22/2022 5:50 PM
If Davis and Daniels aren't on the board give me this guy.
