Knicks · Durant just requested a Trade (page 6)

I think they should've built on the pre-Nash roster, which had some grit, something Kyrie didn't bring to the team all the time.
.
Liked the Buck Williams Nets as well. Never had a dislike for them and agree the pre-KD and Kyrie team was a good bunch especially considering the Nets were recovering from the Garnett/Pierce era. Selling their soul for Super Friend ring chasers hasn’t gone well for them.
I loved the Kendall Gill/Kerry Kittles/Jimmy Jackson/Eric Montross/Tony Mass(enburg) Nets. Fun team. Had like 5th row partial season tickets for like $50/seat, right by the visitor tunnel. Fist bumped Ike Austin. Saw them beat the Bulls. Pippen was pretty upset. I laughed.
While we're all disgusted by KD/Kyrie and having an F-you moment at the Nets, KD is still awesome at basketball and would be a difference maker on our team - of course at the right price. I feel like we're much more complete with Brunson.

this is absurd
"I want to play with CP3 & Booker and if I can't go there, I want to play with Jimmy and Bam!"
KD may have screwed the NBAPA and the next collective bargaining agreement by being a b***h!
I hope the Nets select the best package they can get and tell KD to f**k off!

Considering he’d be playing for Brooklyn in this stilly scenario, he will not be packing at all.

Now that would be some bad Karma.

Realistically speaking, Nets aren’t trading us regardless so it dosent matter. We need a true #1 and Rj ain’t it.

Just hard for me to dislike the franchise...Never root for them to beat the Knicks, but happy to see them win, otherwise.
Letting Dr. J go was a killer, almost a curse of sorts. A local boy who brought the team two ABA titles, he should've been a NY fixture.
Even though I'm not a fan of Irving, I thought they might win a title with him and Durant, & even when Harden joined the team I thought if their big 3 were all in shape and in sync, they might go all the way.
My how things have changed.

Jefferson is trash. Dude really thinks a team led by Simmons has a chance
I feel bad for the ownwer, Nash, and Sean Marks who seem to put in the time but the lot of Harden, Kyrie, simmons and Durant have no joy to bring. Would not blame Nash if he walked.
But Im not talking shit about Nets becuase they have assets to undo and still perhaps come out ok.
fact is we migth improve and they meet us to become worthy rival at long last. Playing meaningful games.
They were not relevant except for last season. They were one toe away from beating the Bucks in a game, no, as series went Durant was amazing. A true virtuoso performance. He knew he could not succeed in overtime so he took it and nailed the shot. Thing was he was one toe short. The game was tied. They lost in overtime. The laid it all out.
Im sorry that most of you can’t as a fan see the beauty of that. All without Kyrie. I respected that team last seaosn. Nash, the vets and Durant. It did not carry over because they did not have the soul of a team. It was something to build on. Too bad Kyrie could not see that. He is exceptional talent and a good universal citizen with good intentions. The money corrupts him quest. Thus he is lost. He is not a ball player first and foremost. Again, I can respect that but his relevancy is as a ball player. So he is nothing to me, and not in my head. I don’t wish him harm, or the Nets.
They are like the other 29 teams not the knicks.

I get the part about KD being 33, and the implications. Dont get the "no soul". I've been taken aback by some of the career decisions, he's made. But he's also very passionate, maybe too passionate at times. Not the kind of person I would label as "souless". Maybe a "get off my lawn", old soul, lol. In the way he goes after online critics.
Durant knows his career clock is ticking. If he came to NY, I doubt that he would squander the opportunity to win a chip', on a team which would be remembered as his.
Kyrie built a team, then blew it up with his covid drama. KD appears to have reached his limit.
Knows Kyrie could drive them into a ditch, without warning.

I said he was a robot and puts in the work. Yes, he has passion as a player, but as a person on the court or as a teammate. No joy. Robotic focus. Intensity. Killer. The man lacks the joy. For that, he can stay away.

KD seemed happy for a few years in GS. He was bookended by two talented but mercurial PGs. Put him in a situation where he doesnt have to worry about the PG going off the rails, and I think he would be a good fit.
On paper it was a good idea and one that did not execute. Covid had circumstances one could not have ever imagined. Harden was uneven and negligently out of shape which might have contributed to the injury and eventual shitty attitude. Kyrie overhwhelmed by social injustice and the pandemic over basketball.
I think the nets plan was solid but fate said otherwise. Maybe some of us are giddy with delight because its straight out of Dolans playbook and given the chance knicks would have done the same. Imagine that after that quick rebuild you get KD, Kyrie, Harden then Simmons and you have just one season of success to show for it with no trip to finals? Crazy.

RJ still bitter about playing in an empty arena with Kidd and Kmart in the meadowlands during the prime of his career
The Knick haters in the media minimizing how bad this is for the nets is mind boggling. The nets are in an impossible situation they can’t get fair market value for KD and Kyrie

It’s a bad look for the nba to have mentally fragile superstars change teams every 5 minutes anytime there is any adversity. People complain about Aaron Rodgers in the nfl, the guy b tches and complains endlessly but has never changed teams. Brett Fabre was considered a “soft diva” but changed teams only twice at the tail end of his career
Next up will be Ben Simmons demanding a trade next regular season

I’ve rooted for nets teams to in the past. Always a die hard Knicks fan but also rooted for the nets at times over the years like in the early 90’s with Petro(until he tragically died), DC and Mookie Blaylock. Chuck Daly even went to my church in New Jersey. Also rooted for the Kidd teams in the early 2000’s when the Knicks were horrible and going nowhere
Those teams were likable. There was never anything likable about KD/Kyrie unless you were some arrogant talking head on ESPN
