How is that impressive? What great trades and massive hauls has he really pulled off? He's taken advantage if a couple of moron GMs a couple of times but I'm not very impressed overall- he's blown more than he's made

He's overrated. He's a good team president, but I still look at the poor job he did with that draft "stash" he accumulated in Boston. Also, you can blame him for Boston ultimately becoming a place thatstar players actively avoided. The Isaiah Thomas situation still kinda hangs over the organization. Also, his draft history is kinda meh. He hit with Tatum and Brown, but the rest of his picks are kinda all over the place.

The article is a bit biased on its face as it changes the standard for what a good trade means. If getting the b at player in the trade is the reasoning, it should work on all trades. If it’s getting a haul, that’s what it should mean.
I think Ainge is a volatile GM. I don’t mean this in the negative sense. I think he is more likely to blow things up and move on to a new rebuild than the next guy. I respect that because it recognizes that middling lottery teams really are in the doldrums. You need to be really good or really bad. I think Ainge would blow up this Knicks squad and rebuild. Hope to pull a Tatum in the next drafts. He blew up a team better than ours with the same intent.
I don’t think it’s that he is a trader so much as he isn’t afraid to pull the plug and isn’t emotionally tied to any positions. When it stops working, change it up.

Simms gets run if injury happens. and it does. He can still work on his game too!
Reddish will get an opportunity. Here or as a trade chip. At 22 it made sense to bring him in as his chances are still better than a undefined low 1st or 2nd round pick. We are rich with them at the moment and there/was a window to work with him.If knicks move to the 50 game space and Brunson is "all that", NYC hype can elevate to an allstar nod. not far fetched is it?
Im not writing off Randle based on him offending me by response to the boo, or his salty attitude. Kid is a monster and I suspect with his contract and some couch time he'll be more coachable. The work ethic still there? The intensity? the good team guy? is that really all gone? We'll see.The next big thing? RJ? I know what I saw last year and that was some elite shit he was putting up. The bar got higher. Glass is half full now.
This trio is now married to MitchRob who has elite abilities. Can he hit a 10 foot jumper? Catch the ball besides when he is flying? Will he be content with is money and stagnate? WE'll see!!!
I see RJ as a 3, so we got Grimes or DM at the 2.how it shakes out is upon Leon and Danny Ainge to figure it out.
One thing I noticed about MitchRob was that he really never has recaptured that athleticism he had when he first started playing. TBH, I think he's been holding back in order to avoid injury and land that big contract. Now that he's gotten the bag, I'm hoping he will return to rookie year form where he was a threat to block it anywhere on the court.

He’s just thinking we are desperate enough for Mitchell after being burned by KD a couple years ago. We should just go to war with what we have now I actually like our roster as is

You really think the knicks are desperate after being rejected by KD? Stop pretending you know what Ainge is thinking, its insulting to the man who has spend his life as a professional Baseball player and had a long career as NBA player and exec. You at least might try to throw out its your opinion and perhaps take other stabs at alternative thinking. Like simply its pretty freaking obvious the guy wants to play in NY and we have build an asset base to make trades. Because of that and yes he like the whole world our asset base that we could pay a high price and its his job to extract the most amount of value for a trade. At the same time, Leon likely understands its ok to pay up but that there will be a future and he has to still plan for it.
Knicks play this game that we must get other teams stars. Fans enjoy that. Since we don’t get the experience of a rebuild we have to go with this. I do like the roster because it has elements of internal growth.
Fans of course want to move away often to a sure thing. RJ is not a sure thing. Randle is not a sure thing. EF is not a sure thing. Grimes gets universal and it might be a bit over the top, but our yoot is quite enjoyable but lets be real we don’t have a lot of history with this. Not since Starks and Mase have we banked on unsure talent. In return we flipped them (with other assets) for LJ and Spree.
Back to today. IM kind of ok with both directions as its not in my control. Its no secret this teams treasure of picks and movable role players makes them prime for a trade. Its unatainable to have that many rookies actually be drafted and developed.
My hope is we can do a hybrid. Still have enough yoot left to manage the cap and enjoy the development while the team continues to improve. Still have enough picks left to wheel and deal and find some gems in the process. They also become trade fodder too. As are IQ, Obi, Grimes, Deuce, and cam. One or two will go in a trade with Utah. Grimes has the highest value given his solid play and contract. I don’t think he has a great upside though. A good one, but not allstar. A Gary Trent Jr with better defense type.

Mitch has unfortunately missed a lot of games to this point. Its been a case of him recovering from one injury, right before developing another one.
Doubt that Mitch will become a force on offense like Camby was in his prime, after he was traded from NY. But Im glad the FO didnt let Mitch's injury history scare off the front office.
Looking forward to seeing how Brunson affects Mitch's game, as well as the rest of the squad.

That's funny. Cuz he's trying to acquire this Knicks squad.

LOL!
Truth is their fairly new owner is taking that approach and hiring him was obviously deliberate. Take a team that has reached its limit. It did not have the trade assets to add to Rudy and DM, so they went logical tear down. Something we never did DELIBERATELY.

I have never seen a pro athlete disrespect other pro athletes like this. Maybe the rumors are true that his ego has gotten the best of him since the bubble where he was hanging with other Allstars. Sorry maybe its nothing but to me its a warning sign. We really don't need another huge ego on this team

Hahaha...he pretty much grew up with the Mets. I wouldn't think too much about it.

He’s a Met fan. This means nothing to his basketball career. What matters is him staying properly conditioned and being the best player and teammate he can be.

Its ok being a Mets fan. While its ok for Yankèes and Mets fans to denigrate the other team, Maybe not the best idea for a pro athlete with aspirations of playing in NY to do so given the divisiveness among NYC fanbases. To put it another way.....how would we feel about Aaron Judge tweeting the "Knicks Suck" after a loss to the Nets.

Also - he's roughly 6'2" and relies a lot on his excellent athleticism but that always catches up with smaller athletic guards as they age/get injured. Then it really becomes the question of what skill is left - think Iverson, B.Davis, S.Francis, etc... Maybe we get 3-4 years before the decline but what are we getting at best... a 2nd tier star that shoots a lot, doesn't play defense and has to be paired with a larger defensive player and great outside shooting to offset his weaknesses.
How can Grimes (if he stays) play if RJ is also on the court? How could IQ get minutes if he stayed with Brunson, Mitchell, Rose at PG? IMO RJ and Grimes need to be out there as wings. If we pick up Mitchell and want to be successful - we would not play him next to Brunson for extended minutes. So then we have a 100m PG in Brunson and 100m combo guard in Mitchell when really only one can be playing at a time without defensive issues.

To me it says lack of maturity, poor judgement and it makes me question his ability to lead. Not to mention that Utah fans don't seem to be disappointed that he is getting traded. I really like our rising drama free team and I am starting to rethink gutting it for Mitchel (and my idea of gutting it isn't even close to what Ainge wants). Wasn't there something written that he prefers Miami? He wants a team already knocking on the doorstep of the finals. He doesn't want to be on a rebuilding teams. Makes me wonder if he opts out of the final year of his player option to ring chase. Im all in with running it back with what we got.

If you follow Mitchell's Twitter account, you'll see him always talking smack to competing baseball teams. You'll also see some banter back and forth with MLB players he's friends with. It's really nothing but a fan having fun. He wrote this a few days ago:
