Knicks · I got my wish: No more Kemba Walker and especially Evan Fournier as our Starting Backcourt @ PG/SG. (page 4)

When you give up a lot of first round picks, one or more recent draft picks for one player. Thats what you're telling the fans, or at least try to sell them on the idea.

The more the FO offers for DM (as good as he is) the less I'm sold. Adding Brunson is going to change how this squad goes at other squads. We will be good at some things, and not so good, to bad at others. Would like to see how Brunson changes chemistry first before another big deal.

Its been argued that Clyde and Earl faced the same questions when they became the starting backcourt. Thats true, but its also true that
Clyde was already on the team, running the offense. Unless Ainge's asking price turns out to be more reasonable than expected, Id like to see Brunson get that same opportunity.

Clyde was 6’4 and Earl 6’3

Brunson and Mitchell are both 6’1. It’s a big difference. Plus the game is a lot more 3 pts so guys will be looking to shoot over them…

I stand behind my belief if Ainge had put Mitchell on the market before the draft this deal would have already happened and Brunson wouldn’t have been their FA acquisition. Also if Mitchell was 6’4 this deal would be done too.

Fit and assets are why this deal isn’t done and last we heard Ainge is still asking for 6 first round picks.

You're comparing the height of two backcourts 50 years apart. Players got gradually bigger until around the turn of the century. That stat has no real bearing.

When Clyde and Earl became a backcourt, no one suggested that their height would solve all their problems. They were worried that there wouldnt be enough basketballs between them. Had nothing to do with height.

DM is shorter than Earl. DM had the 3pt shot, and Earl played more minutes. DM being shorter didnt stop him from putting up similar numbers. DM is going up against bigger players. On D, DM has the length to guard the 3 but can get posted up by bigger players. If there is a real commitment to defense from Brunson and Mitchell, than the height isnt going to be a major issue. Neither will their height if they work as a team.

It’s the NBA height always has a bearing. Teams are going to eat that back court up and shoot over both of them because they are too short.

Perhaps get a bit more progressive with the measurables. DM has a 6'10" wingspan and a 8'4" standing reach. Height measurement to the top of your head is not as important as shoulder height, arm length, lateral quickness and jumping ability.

Wingspan is more important than height for guards on defense. Plus we also resigned Mitch to be our rim protector next several seasons

I know it's not Christmas yet, but anyone want to go in on a Fournier jersey for NYKMentality?

One with the number 241! A reminder of our best 3pt shooter in history.

To be fair of the two Kemba was the bigger disappointment. So it could be worst also he season is young. Fournier might be out sooner than we expect.
