Knicks · DM to Cavs (page 5)

Interesting thing is that even with the top 5 protection, the Knicks offer was better than Cavs, because Cavs should be lower value picks than the Knicks as they should be the better team.

They do it to cover for the fact they all said he was going to the Knicks all summer and no one else was in the running. Then when it doesn’t happen, rather than question the accuracy of their reporting, they laugh at us for believing their stories

I haven’t been tuned in but I assume Stephen A has jumped right into his Knicks bash clown act. Berman’s reporting was muted but had a few little swipes tucked in. I did see a review of tweets aimed at New York for assuming Mitchell would be a Knick. That wasn’t us! It was the gasbags who as usual will take zero accountability for their BS.

They do it every time, they laugh at us for their stories being wrong- it’s surreal

Checked out Stephen A’s rant - pathetic and predictable. Surprised some fans are losing it. I guess they’re just giving the Pavlovian response. But how can you see not giving up all that it would take to get a very good but limited player as a disaster? This board is pretty sane!

If Stephen A Smif is crying that means the Knicks made the right move or at least non-move

All I will say is that a lineup of Brunson, Mitchell, Barrett, Randle, and Mitch, was not going to get us very far, and if Barrett went to Utah instead of Grimes, we would still be looking for 3, unless folks think Grimes can be a SF in today's game.

The JB/DM/RJ/JR big 4 lineup would have required the use of a second ball. We traded for Brunson to end our PG nightmare, yet Mitchell, RJ, and Randle are all players who need the ball to be at the top of their respective games, and none of those players are true catch and shoot complimentary players. Add to this the fact that we'd have had a tiny backcourt with Brunson/Mitchell.

Thought that came from Hahn, but struggling to find it now...

Ok, lets send Randle, Drose, and some picks for Mosely!

OK, wasn't Hahn, but I haven't completely lost it!

They're counting on Spida opting out and signing a new deal in time for Mobley's re-up.

Every year there is a disgruntled star so we prob won't have to wait very long - I'm thinking by the deadline there will be another move unless most of the young guys mature very quickly and we take off like the Fab 5 in their freshman season

Unless the FO has some moves in mind before camp, we get to find out which young players are worth keeping. Nothing worse than trading homegrown talent, and watching them blow up somewhere else. Cant wait forever, but you dont want to be too hasty either.

My reaction to the trade and where we are as a franchise right now

Yea, I am good with passing. Bro they wanted 3 UPs,2 swaps RJ and Quick. I don't think top 5 protection makes the Cavs offer better. They just after these long negotiations did not want to send him to NY.

Think it's very telling that the entire negotiations with us were actively leaked throughout summer, but the team they actually dealt with had negotiations in complete secrecy- they used us and padded it out until they could get a good deal from another team.

Also they wanted us to send Fournier elsewhere at the cost of a 1st because they didn't want to take on salary, but they're fine taking on Markkanen. They don't want to pay RJ, but they're fine paying Sexton. They were leading us on the whole time until they could get another team to swoop in.

I got no problem with not trading for Mitchell then. We got a bunch of picks in a loaded draft next year. Can't wait to see what we do with them. The Jazz wanted us to pay the Knicks tax.

Glad I don't have to read this Ainge media stooges c**p any more ( the writer not Shwinny Pooh!)- how does Ainge enchant so many bball writers, to the point they seem to think they are his disciples and must spread his word and praise him, it's crazy- this writer was almost in vengeful tears in his tweets today, as if the Knicks had personally slighted him by not giving up everything, he was gleeful the Knicks didn't get him for daring to not bow to Ainge's every demand and -gasp!- try to negotiate a better deal for them. Absurd!

I was thinking about this as well. I believe once Rose threatened Ainge with a deadline then gave RJ $120 mil, Ainge was ready to get his picks and stick it to Rose. And he succeeded. He got his picks and put the pressure back on Rose.

Here’s a question. If Ainge was running the Knicks instead of Rose, how would the Knicks look right now 🤔

Personally I think the players Ainge got is better than what we tried to offer. And they also got more unprotected than what we offered. But I agree that the Knicks unprotected picks are more valuable than cavs unprotected. But ainge knew that Rose wasn’t moving off his position so he moved on to a slightly worse deal.

Zach Lowe said Jazz were still mad at Knicks execs showing up for a playoff game. I doubt that a franchise would be so petty to let that influence trade negotiations, but we are talking about Ainge. Real question: are three unprotected picks from the Cavs more valuable than two unprotected picks from the Knicks? In any case, this might be the case of the Jazz saving the Knicks from themselves if the rumored RJ trade offer is true.

Eh, I think the Knicks players involved in the offer are better then the ones given in the Cleveland package. An unproven rookie who I was never really high on, a bench forward and a combo guard of questionable value? You can also make the case that the Cavs picks aren't that much better than the Dallas, Detroit or Milwaukee picks the Knicks own.

It comes off as Ainge being upset that Rose wouldn't bend to his demands so he went elsewhere for a worse package to "stick it to em".

I remember one playoff series vs. Boston in the early 90s where they started talking trash about the Knicks to reporters after game 1. Ewing and the Knicks got wind of it, and they roared back to win the series. Ainge was part of that Celtics squad.

Im guessing that Ainge thought that the Knicks alleged desperation to add another star would bring him a ridiculous haul, because after all it was the Knicks. When Ainge realized that he wasnt going to be able to get everything he wanted, Ainge pouted and took the next best offer, just to troll the Knicks. His old division rival that he underestimated again.

The 1990 series where they were down 2-0 and came back to win the next 3. Good times!

Thats it, guess it was after game 2 that the Celtics talked trash.

Objectively, I like the Cavs package better and would have chosen that over Schwinny Pooh’s detailed Knick package.

I'll laugh if we end up with a higher pick than Ainge in this years draft
