Now they just hand Hart over and are starting Cam. They are in a weird spot.Part of the reason they had to let Hart go is that they want to re-sign Grant. Hart's player option made that risky. Cam is also a free agent so they have to see what they have. They also have Nasir Little and Shaedon Sharpe so they can piece together a wing rotation to get them by. Cam providing decent minutes would solve a lot of issues for them tho.
Definitely about the money but they should be able to pay both grant and hart. But I guess I’m glad they don’t think they can.

wild when you consider that's more than Brunson and Randle got
We fawned over Derozen for years. Good player.
We need a "Star". We discussed Zach Lavine many times.
What a mess the Bulls are given what they tried to do. Last year they were good until injuries hit.
This year they have not got it going. BAll is still damaged, Caruso seems to miss games, and they on a 5 game losing streak.
Billy Donovan is a good coach. I don't know what chemistry issue there or who is to blame.
But.........
For all the thumbs down drama of last year, the "fire Thibs" from the low attention span bing bongers, and the current "miseducation of RJ" for a team thought to struggle to make the play in things are looking good with 22 games.
And......we got here starting two 22 year olds!!!! Off the bench are 23 year old IQ and 24 year old Obi. Our two studs are 27. Our guys under big contracts are healthy and our worst ones are EF and Drose. Nobody in exile or stretched. No Vaseline, overweight guys, sextual harrassment, or dudes sulking.
And James Dolan still owns the team.
perhaps its my tempered expectations that allow me to enjoy the season. That is on me.
My wife reminds me often how we need to take stock in the good things and enjoy them.
This is entertainment so it's easy stuff.
When Melo announces his retirement lets sign him for a day as a feel good bookend. Not saying we retire his jersey. Thats reserved for royalty. Ewing earned that despite no chips.
Enjoy the all star break.

Melo destroyed MVP level play/chemistry Stat was having with Felton
And say what you want about KP but when he first started he was objectively good and seemed to have his head on right. Melo (and KP's bonehead brothers) poisoned him against us and set us back years
He was and has always been very selfish -- on and off the court. Why do we want to honor him exactly?
at least KP has the decency to say he effed up when he was here

OK, I'll bite. How off the court? Because he called JLin's contract ridiculous?
Outside of that, he was always very professional and handled the NY media as well as you can hope for - even at the end when it was clear we were trying to move him.

I was thinking of when he impregnated that stripper while he was still married.

OK fair enough!
Thought we were talking about bball/team related issues. Unregretfully don't follow the TMZ scene and never heard about that. Not JKidd bad, but not a good look.

We have a lot better people to honor
If he prefers to be as a knick, then just let him retire as one. NOT SAYING TO RETIRE HIS NUMBER.
The poisoning of KP? Is there any proof? Where does this come from?
Melo was not a perfect knick. We blow things out of proportion.
LIke Bernard King, He is god like in these parts. He is in as a knick and but played just 206 games, but he lead the league in scoring and was a two time (of his 4) with us.
He played 296 games for Washington, 193 as a Nyet, and 160 with GSW. I was a bit surprised he got in, but none the less happy! He went in as a knick.
Melo had no great team moments other than conf finals as a KNuggit. He was all star each of his 7 NY years including his last one on ceremony. I can imagine he was snubbed once in Denver.
He played 8 seasons There, 7 here. I can see it either way. I don't hate on him as his issues here was in part not being on a well staffed team. The Triangle era never worked.
KnickDanger wrote:So reflecting on the amazing Gobert trade at the all star break -- Wolves give up 4 1sts, Kessler, Beasley, a swap etc. for the guy who will put them over the top. Problem is at the break Wolves are but one game in the loss column better than the supposed to be tanking Jazz. Unbelievable. I for one am very thankful our FO did not cave in to do that sort of trade.
Problem is Antman came in out of shape, and KAT has only played 26 games.
D’angelo Russell has been banished. Win now is about a two season thing. They did not get it done this year but for all their woes, they sit 8th in the west. Whats wild is they are just 1.5 games from 12 seed! Even crazier, three games from the 3rd seed!
I can’t tell you how it all comes together or not in the west, or when KAT comes back but the west is still open. Granted, Suns made a brilliant move that should put them over the top. Denver seems to be steady cream of the crop out there. Grizz have had issues as have every team.
Making the playoffs is big deal for a the worst team in the last 20 years. Might I remind all that the second worst team in that time span is our very own Knicks. In my mind we have a long way to go before we can start shitting on lessor teams for their woes. We have had our shares.
I’ll say that I agree with KnicksDanger as I am glad we have refrained from using our trade capital foolishly. Truth be told Donovan Mitchell would have been nice had we not gotten brunson but it would have been silly to pay up as required (not to say he is not worth it). As it turned out Brunson is a top tier talent and perhaps there are other things we can do that are not as sexy, but will aggregate up to a better team. Not everything need to be a big deal. Both Harts, J and I are both great moves that work for us.
“Be Cool”………..Not panic over Randles season last year was big. Not chase big names. And maybe not over react to RJ’s current lapse. We doing well with two 22 year olds in the starting line up. Very different than in years past!!!!

I wouldn't encourage him to wear a Knicks jersey in HoF.
He had plenty of good teammates here. Can you name even one, where he made them a better player the way great players do? Can you name one player he genuinely mentored?
And though he was an A-hole to J.Lin, this isn't about that. He was just a genuinely selfish player with a ton of talent. G.Karl was correct

Genuinely Mentored? You got it good for Melo and no sense in debating. We spend years on his pro’s and cons. But there is a reality that he is 9th all time scoring in the NBA and was a knick for 7 years. He scored almost half his pts with Denver but if picks and chooses I don’t know what his preference is.
Reality is he is 7th all time regular season point total in knick history. He is going into the Hall. He will get a video tribute. Retire a knick is ceremonious thing. I won’t lose sleep either way. I don’t want his number retired. Not the way things stand with how knicks do it.

Not sure i follow. is it too much to ask a team leader to mentor younger players, or that you can't think of anyone and that's telling? Derek Rose who was an MVP and currently riding pine does not think it beneath himself to mentor essentially anyone who will listen. That's what leaders do

Your assuming the best player on a team is also a “leader”. Melo was not that, or at least then.
Not all are cut out for that.
Not sure I read any issues with melo being a “bad teammate”. What was rumored and what was fact on the Lin situation?
I loved Lin and Linsanity. My history is filled with “Mooby” which was I thought Melo was over rated.
That was then. His legacy is what it was. 9th all time leading scorer. Anti Triangle, and not the easiest teammate.
But he was here for 7 years. so your not voting for him to be HOF as a Knick. We got your vote counted! LOL
He also wasn't particularly good at attracting talent to the team. Other members of the Banana Boat crew were able to do that. Attract talent; elevate the play of those around them etc.
You can also chalk me up that we shouldn't sign him so he can retire a Knick or any of that.
