Knicks · Trade Randall yesterday, today, and tomorrow. (page 1)

Man some posters here try to believe any suggestions of trading Randall is illogical. " Oh give him time to improve yada yada. Trade the fool now for anything.
shinmen @ 11/4/2022 6:54 AM
Which team do you think would be willing to trade for him without us giving multiple picks as well?
Alpha1971 @ 11/4/2022 8:37 AM
Not the point of the post. Point is to posters expressing a sentiment that he should not be traded.

Is it logical to see him play 4-5 good games then say dump him after a stinker?
Also the price to perhaps move that contract?
And to take back salary? Is that one or two players? Who do you cut or demote? 15% trade kicker reality?
Who plays pf on second unit?

Can’t get “stars” here? If fans can boo Aaron judge, and berate Jules, why should they?

BRIGGS @ 11/4/2022 8:51 AM
Not going anywhere but I’d love to see him in a 6 th man type role. He’d mismatch against 2 stringers and if he’s on he plays if he’s off he sits. Kind of like what the lakers have done w Westbrook. We have to try to get the best out of Randle — just the way it realistically is.

Because those "posters" realize you can't just trade him know without some repercussions...whether that be attaching picks, adding one of our younger players or accepting a worse contract in return

I'm biting my tongue and giving it until Thanksgiving.

A Randle, Fournier for Ben Simmons trade works but would you?

Is simmons rusty or a head case?
I’d want to see his xrays and talk to his ortho team.
Money is a bit off but lets stay on the concept.

If Simmons needs 30 more games to get right, then perhaps. he can guard 4 positions, maybe 5. So yeah I consider it longer term.

Longer term, thats 7 games these days?

I believe the answer is both. His stress from being a head case lead to back issues. His back issues lead to lower extremity issues. At least that is what a chiropractor would tell you. He is both rusty and injured right now. If right a 6'11" defensive ball handling guard next to Brunson would be a decent fit and his talent is undeniable

I'd rather keep Randle that have to watch Simmons in street clothes for the next 3 years.

Mentally weak and made of glass.

Get me Robin Lopez!

good work

He pretty much has no trade value. What do you want for him? The time to trade him was during his one really good season.

Actually, we saw him play 2 good games, 2 so-so games, 1 bad game, and 1 other game that was so bad that everyone realized we need to trade him now.

Keep the lithium in his Gatorade and build his value as beat we can.

the so so games he was not awful. The record speaks for itself but for the first 10 days he was the toast of the town and optimism reigned.
And.....
Remember when PHX lost to a Australian team and we all like "lets get Booker when they start the rebuild". And they off to a great start.
Im dismayed by the emotionality of fans and the relentless tilt that "we lost" vs. "we got beaten by a better team".
Expectations? every year we call it hate when the pundits call for what becomes reality. When we exceeded two years ago Thibs was hailed a genius and rewarded with COY.
We labeled him as a dude that "does not develop". Instead, its what is happening.
Now we throw all kinds of suggestions as if we know the deal but very much don't deal with ramifications of trades or replacements.

OP....were you thinking it's still too early for a Trade Brunson thread?
blkexec @ 11/4/2022 2:17 PM
I don't think Randle knows how to play any other way, than being the main guy. Otherwise, he's not worth his contract as a roll player. And if we want him to pass more, he will stand around and be a ball mover. Don't need to pay someone millions of dollars to move the ball. Meanwhile he will always have RJ over his shoulder, waiting for the ball to swing back to him so that he can attack the left side of the rim. The same left side Randle and Brunson are looking to attack.

I'm waiting to see if RJ and Randle can consistently bring it every night. How will they rebound from that embarrassing loss vs ATL. Now that we added Brunson, I've said this before, on paper it seems great. But if we look deep, I think it hurts RJ and Randle because their money is with ISO plays. Both are known for playing best when the ball is in their hands. When they are playing off the ball (now that Brunson is here), they are different players (and not catch and shoot players who Brunson needs around him).

When RJ is a catch and shoot player (which is not his strength) you get inconsistent and inefficient play.

Randle may have reduced his TOs, but his impact also got reduced since he's a better ISO player than off ball or catch and shoot player. Randle is not involved as much and doesn't go to the line as much. So when Randle has an off night, there's nothing else he does well that rocks the boat. Same with RJ. When his scoring isn't working, what else does he bring to the table thats consistent?

RJ rebounds!

RJ and Randle can still be attack the basket players - but we need better spacing for them - and we want Brunson to get them the ball in the spots they can exploit. SO I still think there is hope.

I think the bigger issue is getting Obi more time on the floor with whomever. Thibs won't play Obi and Randle as a small front court - I think that is a weakness that Thibs has.

I'd also like to see Obi at the 3 in lieu of RJ 'Bricks so Many' Barrett.

I have defended Randle, as I do all our players, for some time. However, it is clear that Randle seems done and has NO confidence. Whether it was our famous NY hospitality or his inability to adapt to this new role, he is just not looking good. Maybe he is only at his best as the primary scorer on a bad team. One thing is clear, he may not be a good fit with this starting lineup with RJ and JB.

Problem is, we have bigger issues.
NONE OF OUR YOUNG GUYS CAN SHOOT OR HAVE HIGH BBALL IQ! We can blame Randle for ALL of our problems. But we are ignoring obvious issues with the other 90% of the team. Besides Obi close to 50% 3pt shooting, everyone else is struggling yet again.
Additionally, Thibs mentioned this the other night. Maybe no one heard him but we gave up 18-19 points off offensive boards. Seemed pretty important factor in contributing to the loss. Considering Randle is our best rebounder, how will moving him improve that?
I am sure everyone realizes that Obi does not exactly stick around to help on the boards much. Reason why he is first man down on transition. Randle also has been decent defending the 4. Not sure if we can say that would be Obi's strong suit. Lastly, our offense struggled for stretches.
We asked Randle to cut down on his shooting. Share the ball. He has. Yet we are blaming Randle for lack of offense.

But as I said, I get it. Randle dribble turnovers were comical the other night. His three point shot looks like Dennis Smith Jr. part 2. (Another NY fan treatment victim). But think goal should be to get him back to his aggressive role. Without the dribbling and 3pt chucks. He needs his alpha mentality back. If he can't do it with first unit then move him to second unit where he can be the primary scorer again. If he continues to stink up the place through the trade deadline, then move him.

But lets not lose sight of our bigger issues mentioned above. Ones that may only be made worse once he leaves.
