I would lock him up this offseason if possible... someone is gonna throw mad money at him

He should win 6MOTY based on impact, but this is also a weird award that tends to go to guys with bigger reputations/ names. Like Westbrook is a favorite to get it. Impact towards winning doesn’t matter much with this award it seems. But he’s absolutely deserving. And Knicks do need to lock him long term this summer. He’s probably our 3rd most valuable player right now.

100%. Also think if the Knicks didn't have a backdrop of Sims/iHart stepping up very nicely in his absence, Mitch would get that same type of consideration.

Yup, still hope to see IQ start. Believe his ceiling is higher than 6th man. He's so efficient that he wont step on the other starter's game. Grimes might be more suited for that role.

I think you will see IQ get paid like a starter on his next contract but there just doesn't seem to be enough wiggle room to change rotation and he is just too good as a backup PG.

Maybe when they have a replacement. I'm of the mind that we might be about to sign that 3rd star, before they become a star. If that turns out to be true, its going to save the time and cap space it would take to bring in a starter. Who is equal or better than IQ.

It would be easier to develop Grimes into a backup PG (sorry to beat a dead horse) or use some draft capital, to trade for a quality backup.

D. Rose was a revelation the second time around. Maybe we can find another solid veteran PG. Still havent seen enough of Deuce as a floor general to have any degree of confidence. Not yet anyway. G league is nice, but its a starting point. Need to see more.

You don't need to be sorry for beating that horse at all, just don't hold your breath waiting for it to happen cause passing out with dead horses not recommended! I saw that scene and it was disgusting! But still a great movie

Some more data.

His defense is elite but perhaps not 100% complete

martin @ 3/7/2023 6:59 PM
sounds about right

IQ with another start. I think he puts up only 30 this time

With IQ starting why do I have more faith that we will win? If Brunson was back, I’m not so sure. I believe in momentum and IQ is riding high right now. Let’s see if his last game was a fluke.

Ive been impressed with the job the training/coaching staff (DRose) has done with IQ. Have to admit I still wonder what MDA could do with a few weeks in the offseason.

Unfortunately he's consulting with NOP (I think)

Have less than a zero interest in D'Antoni back as head coach, but he would make a great "PG whisperer".

Quickley has been very hesitant tonight for some reason.

IQ is my fav player so I do NOT want him gone. We are gonna get a LOT of calls on him and have some tough choices to make

I think the Sac situation is different. Hal and Fox didn't play well together, and the numbers support this. That trade was more chemistry and it worked out for both teams. JB and IQ do mesh. I won't rule out a possible IQ trade, but I don't see chemistry on the court being the driving force.

they do mesh... and I have no problem keeping IQ. However if McBride emerges and Grimes levels up you have Brunson/IQ/McBride/Grimes and Hart/RJ only playing SF because someone has to. That's a glut.

We can afford to run these guys back. There's really no pressure, but I dont see being able to play the guys we want as much as we want and where we want.

ramtour420 @ 3/15/2023 9:02 PM
At this point he is our 3rd best player- right there with RJ, more or less. That's our core JB, Jules, RJ and IQ. The second team is Hart and Hart, Grimes, Mitch. That's 8 players right there. McBride and Obi are the tail end of it. Next season that might change with guys developing. So exciting to see them take strides
