OMG- can you imagine the look on Thibs face the first time Kuz mentions fashion week?
Seems like decent teammate. I think Rodman was finishing piece on a few great teams
HOF and elected to top 75 list Dennis Rodman.
Then there is Kyle Kuzma. Are you for real?
Rodman skill set and contribution are even remotely similar to Kuzma.
For those looking at Ex Leon clients or CAA you’d be shocked to see how many players exist with that connection.
That does not mean they are Free agents, their team wants to trade them to us, or they fit. JB was a very specialized scenario.
Cmon Nalod, how many clients did Leon have, three, four tops?
Seriously, I agree that Leon wont be calling about every CAA client, but that doesnt mean he wont target some of them for a possible trade.
The reason I believe the Suns might be interested is their ability to compete going forward, with CP3 as starting PG. Suns are also one of the oldest teams in the league.
If they trade Booker, they will get back some foundational players. They have all their picks, so any additional picks could be packaged in a trade for another star. It would give the new owner a foundation young players, picks. and cap room.
To my point, Team will trade for him. Booker can ask out, but his contract is with suns, not CAA.
Ayton, Bridges, and Booker are not old.
Booker is their star. Gate attraction matters. Does new ownership rebuild?
The big question the new owner should be asking is how far can the Suns go with CP3, if he runs out of gas by the playoffs? Paul isnt getting any younger. Can the rest of the team overcome their HOF PG looking ordinary in the postseason? I dont believe so.
Jersey sales might prove me wrong, but I thought it was CP3 who was the big box office draw. Will they still fill the seats when he's gone?
I see a Suns team with diminishing returns in the playoffs, a new owner who probably wants to put their own stamp on the franchise. I'd get what I can for Paul, while I can. Trade Booker. That would give a new owner the resources to build a contender from the ground up, instead of being around for maybe the last ride of this one.
I dont see the Suns doing anything until the offseason.
Lets be real, CP3 is bonafide HOF and reputation is there but the real back bone FUTURE of the team is Booker, then Ayton and Bridges. That is not an old core but one hitting their prime.
One has to understand CP3 contract and how it was structured:
“ The Suns would only be on the hook for about half of Paul's $30.8 million hit should they cut him before the beginning of the 2023-24 season, as his deal would become fully guaranteed on 6/28/2023.
The last year of Paul's deal would see no guaranteed money attributed to Phoenix's cap if he's waived by 6/28/2024. After that date, the deal becomes fully guaranteed. ”
So after this season they essentially buy him out for 15mil and say buh bye. They could trade him before the deadline this year or just prior to the guarantee date. Perhaps they could mutually extend that date?
“Putting a stamp on the team, etc”, its reasonable conjecture but spending 4.5bil on a team then going into rebuild with a newly renovated building is not likely.
I’d think Ayton and Bridges (he is not a star) would be traded before Booker.
Just for discussion you think if PHX needs depth you do a Ayton for some combo of MRob trade with EF, Reddish, IQ, Toppin and perhaps Drose for a playoff run IF FO does not want to pay Ayton or believe in his upside from here. Knicks do it because they think he has another level to go. And pairing with our starters has an aggregate that is wonderful! Front line of RJ, Randle and Ayton is young and has room to grow. Add Brunson and Grimes and that MIGHT be compelling. I like MRob a lot, but his lack of offense is worrisome. If they want a kings ransom for Ayton im walking. If our FO does not have a strong conviction for him this is all moot.
Clearly im not suggesting all of those assets go out the door. Some combo and maybe a pick is in there EITHER WAY coming or going.
Im just spitballing here for discussion. I don’t know what PHX is thinking or what they plan on doing with CP3 after the season. I’d guess how far they go will color the decision. But I wanted to pass on that contract detail which clearly offers a way to PHX a path to clear themselves of him and not cripple the future.
It could just be a bad matchup for him but, I feel like every time Afton has gone head to hear with Mitchell, Robinson has dominated him.
