We are a few days away from the trade deadline and alot of trade rumors have been popping up left and right. I think the FO wants to upgrade the bench offensively. I think there will be two players that can come in, the player who can help upgrade the bench and if its a major trade a back up PF or center to replace Obi or iHart if they are part of the major package.
My ideal scenario is to trade for OG with a package of Obi, Rose and two first rounders. Then trade Cam for a back up PF. Given that alot of teams are gunning for OG, i dont think the knicks can land him. This would upgrade the bench by giving the team a Deuce, IQ, Grimes backcourt.
My prediction would be the FO would trade Cam plus 2nd rounders for either Grayson Allen or Alex Caruso and probably try to trade Fournier but they wont get any reasonable trade done.
I think the cost for anyone even close to an upgrade - i.e., OG - goes against the philosophy of the FO. It seems even Caruso gets a kings ransom in the post Gobert NBA. Of course you never know and I sure as hell don't. But I suspect any move is a minor one.

Why would theybgive up 2 FRP's for Grayson Allen?

It seems like a straight up Allen-Cam trade is not enough for the bucks, maybe giving then a 2nd rounder or two can grease the wheels. I also think a minor trade will happen if not the two, Beastly or eric gordon and thats it
We dont know what the FO's summer plans are as far as roster building. They might have a player(s) in mind. Which might make them want to hold off on a big trade before the deadline. See how the young players finish the season, before the next move.
Looks like we would have to win a bidding war for OG. And that still wouldnt make us an instant contender. Which would be the justification for outbidding teams contending now. They're more desperate for that last piece.
I'd be fine with the FO seeing how things play out.
I'm 100% against trading away Obi Toppin because no, he might not be getting 20+ minutes behind an All-Star Julius Randle etc but he's awesome insurance off the bench @ PF (behind Julius Randle) because if anything were to ever happen to Julius Randle (Knocks on wood)? We'd regret throwing away an
extremely talented Obi Toppin (while we watch Obi Toppin go onto become an athletic freak of nature for another team).
Use all of our draft picks galore in order to improve our current team etc for all I care but I'm 100% against trading away the likes of Immanuel Quickley, R.J. Barrett, Quentin Grimes and Obi Toppin; I love these kids and can't wait to watch them develop alongside of one another for another 3+ years (alongside of both Jalen Brunson and Julius Randle).
We've got a boat load of future draft picks in order to land an OG Anunoby; and imo there's no need to include any of our most talented prospects in order to make it happen.

How is the defense of Saddiq bey? Im worried if his defense will not make the cut of Thibs' standard trading him for Obi will not improve the team even a bit. I haven't watched the pistons much so i have no idea if Bey is a good fit or not

I've been on their forums a bit and there's some sentiment that he's more of a 4 than 3 defensively. He was tough on Randle when they played the Knicks Not necessarily effective, but he didn't back down. He can't finish in traffic tho and makes RJ look like Clyde Drexler at the rim. I think he can give the bench some pop

Reddish trade 2.0
Bey is a much better, more proven player though.
The Knicks and Jazz have had exploratory conversations surrounding Obi Toppin, Evan Fournier, and draft pick compensation for Malik Beasley and Jarred Vanderbilt, league sources told HoopsHype.
Not sure how legit the reporting is but the framework of the deal makes total sense as far as what I can see happening.

Dont know the cap implications. It makes sense as far as fit. But this looks like a quick fix, lateral move, that might address chemistry. Those kind of moves arent necessarily bad things, but it would be disappointing if thats the best the FO could do for Obi.
There is still the rest of the season to increase his trade value, if Obi is to be traded. This would feel like a case of selling low, for a playoff run. Which probably wont get far this season.

It works under the cap. Keep in mind Vanderbilt is younger than Obi and has been better so far in his career. He’s a very versatile defender. If his 3pt shooting continues to come along, thibs could unlock him as Covington type player. Both players expire in 2024. I don’t think it’s selling low.
Obi, Fournier and a ton of picks for OG.
Rose and Reddish in a 3 team that gets Grayson Allen and a vet big.

I see your point about Vanderbilt. I havent seen a concerted effort to get Obi involved in the offense this season. Feels like he's picking up the scraps, when it comes to touches.
We saw last season that Obi is capable of thriving, when he's featured. Clearly has more work to do, but really hasnt had a chance to do that in this offense.
Not against trading Obi, but I would have liked to have seen him play here, how I believe he will play in Utah. Before we possibly trade him. Dont believe that would be a tall order.

Small trades can be good.
Saddiq Bey will be better on a good team. He’s forced to over play his position. His 3 point shooting would be better here and his defense will fit. No downside trade You can’t lose

If the bucks don’t want Allen why do we?
Of for Mitchell like compensation is too much
BRIGGS wrote:saddiq bey for toppin
Why? Toppin has become our best 3 point shooter and we may be able to get a nice package for Randle in the offseason
I hope these Malik Beasley rumors are just rumors. I wouldn't mind Vanderbilt tho.

I don’t love it but a IQ, Beasley, Vanderbilt and Hartenstein bench is really good. But I’d rather just to Beasley and keep Obi.
